To be fair I use this with anyone I interact with, but listen how they talk about other people, do they say more good things or bad things. For example do they like to brag how they screw people over/mess with people or like give people gifts, do they constantly self depreciate or build people up/ talk about other things more neutral/ positive things. Do they treat their animals well? Ig try to notice their behavior. But like outwardly, I would say if you over hear a lot of gossiping, run the ot…

Damn, that ratio is fucked, hang in there. I hear ya. Is this a public or private university if u don’t mind me asking?

I can relate although I’m on the other side of things as a student. There isn’t anything wrong with wanting to do your job and go home. Is there a somewhat trusted faculty or staff member you can talk to privately, not in a gossip way but in a finding support and brainstorming solutions type of way.

This is “trend” is an odd behavior to say the least, but can we take a moment to acknowledge the name of the university is literally ASSUMPTION university, like the irony on this crazy lol.

First off it’s okay to be selfish for the right reasons, never stay in a relationship cus someone says they’re gonna kill themselves, imo. You matter, your mental health matters and you’re not responsible for their actions. Plenty of people use the suicidal threats to the manipulate people into doing things they won’t have otherwise done. YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A GROWN ADULT. I would say the best thing you could do is try to move on best you can, focus on healing, finding yourself, self car…

Focus on what you can control in your life. If you’re in a position of power use it wisely and fairly to advocate or raise awareness, if you feel safe doing so. If not maybe try to be less of a bi-stander if you see men being abused, harassed etc. Although this is a very nuanced point that should be taken with caution.

You don’t have to answer, but what signs of the draft do you see as warnings? Similar to how you explained the Polish situation, governments know how opposed to drafts western people are at the moment so my guess is the next draft will be a “frog boiling in water” type of draft, slowly coaxing the masses into something easy like a written and fitness test, then maybe a bit of training here and there for some monetary incentive, then ramping up until they’re on the front lines somewhere. At least…

True, I’m not trying to give the feds any ideas lol but I think if we did have a draft the government would try to get support from feminists who want to see us die, the religious people by saying your doing gods work, the reds and blues by saying we are their savior, it is a brave strong choice yada yada yada. I think it’s interesting to look at Ukrainian and Russian war propaganda to see where the US might take it if they choose to do a draft. Although the rhetoric hasn’t really changed from W…

Wow, that blows. Best advice I have without knowing ur full situation. You are valuable. Take stock of what you have, where you live, your strengths, weaknesses etc. Consider if where you live is somewhere you can get ahead, if not, consider starting over in a cheaper COS living area if possible. Truly take care of yourself. Try to minimize the vices (drinking, smoking, gambling, mindless social media, etc.) Find people, activities or organizations that you find healing supportive or helpful. Fo…

Well I think the narrative gets manipulated into masculine rhetoric. Like you are a "coward" if you don't fight, that you are " strong, powerful, brave, patriotic etc." if you go and die in a war. Maybe pushing back against this narrative is the solution. And focusing more on the men after the war (ie: the ones who didn't make it) and not the propaganda posters and slogans before/during the war. My low level effort at a possible theory is American society devalues men, emasculates men and then g…

Yes I got treaty like shit often, more often than not it was women or what I would guess to be feminists, feel like I could just tell. Even today I walked into a local story and said hello in a nice voice, the women low key yelled and said WHAT DO YOU WANT, in like a snarky voice. She then said oops I thought you were my husband, like that makes it okay lmao. I’m not sure how to explain how I got it to end or how it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. I try my best to never match the energy they …

It’s fucked up and you didn’t deserve it, you deserve a better life, you deserve a life worth living on your terms. I am here and have read what you are typed. You are not alone in this world. I assume ur in America, if so, there are many resources waiting for you, pls reach out to them, pls find a safe place away from those who have done harm against you. 988 is always one call away, other resource…

Very well said, low key validating that having preferences or beliefs is not automatic hate. This is actually a core reason why stay off the apps, very old men were a turn off but blue haired women were the last straw, like why tf am I even on here anymore, they have lost the plot. Have you found any spaces for only gay men? I mean there are gay saunas but I’ve found it tends to usually 40-60 year olds and just felt awkward, but I’ve only been to one so idk. To me the gay community doesn’t reall…

I’ll be careful of the words I use since it’s a very touchy topic but with the trans men issue I couldn’t agree more and appreciate your comment. Ik this next part sounds kinda shitty but for me it’s not even the fact that trans men are invading gay spaces but the ones who don’t even try to look masculine, they just cut there hair and change there name to Jake and expect everyone to play along. It’s such a slap in the face. It’s like they know they can’t get anyone so they try to cosplay as a ma…

I felt the same way in elderly healthcare, thought I’d be a nurse and tried working at an old folks home to get a feel for nursing. Too many people assumed I was there with bad intentions because I was a male. Their feelings are their feelings but they’re not gonna rope me in to there unhealthy/delusional worldviews of men.

You described the feeling I couldn’t put into words, ofc there are exceptions but buy and large when I have conversations with men in tends to be more meaningful and or chill, things that other people have mentioned above: politics, deep thoughts, food, exercise, religion etc. idk if it’s an age/maturity thing but I find I can’t stand being around groups of women talking about such superficial things, like some new trend, some mainstream musician, some random event that a celebrity had, toxic go…

Spot on with ur post. I feel quite guilty for being a bystander at times, I’ve seen more physical abuse in public by women against men on campus than vice versa. Women hitting men, pulling their ear etc. I see in many domestic abuse posters and psa’s usually depicting a male figure hurting a frightened female character. Do all y’all have recommendations or advice of what to do? I sense sometimes the man doesn’t want to make it a scene and I simply don’t know what I should do.

I feel you shouldn’t just talk to men but also women who voted the other way, see what they have to say. I am lgbtq and have talked to many conservative women, not all women support democrats or liberal polices. It feels like ur framing it as only men are pushing back. Maybe the better question is why are people pushing back or why are men, women and a large chuck of minorities pushing back.

I’m saying we can move forward while recognizing that there are problems and trying to make a difference all at the same time. I’m not saying we should yell and scream, it takes a ton of work, level headed discussions and patience but it is worth it. I just don’t think doing nothing (in terms of advocacy of men’s issues) and assuming no one will listen is the answer. Sounds like giving up or giving in. It takes time for people to consider ideas and not every will listen, but there are people who…

I understand what your trying to say, press on and accept the unfortunate realities. Though this attitude strikes me as stick your head in the sand and pretend the west is a different place than what it actually is. Men's and women's issues are not a zero sum game, there isn't really a winner to the gender war at the end of the day imo, there is a third option...

I feel this on a deep level, I talked to some very liberal individuals about stats that explain how man are really struggling, here are some things I was told. "Well its not all about you [or men in general]" "Well that's unfortunate" "Well it's because men are to blame, patriarchy blah blah bah" Deep down so many of them legit do not care, if it goes against there deeply internalized narrative the response I often get is more or less the type of response of blame men/engage in one upmanship tal…

Gotcha, glad we are finding common ground. Ig im struggling to understand what the small things are? I think there will always be some gender differences, after all we are different, doesn’t have to be a bad thing imo. Are the small things strictly because of the gender or is it more about the person and their beliefs or actions?

Honestly I haven’t really dated that much, online dating is a nightmare, Grindr people just wanna fuck, tinder is a cesspool of people who just want validation in my experience. Really just waiting for someone to come into my life through irl connections and experiences, I’m in my early 20s so I don’t feel any rush. What about u, what has ur experience been?

Gotcha, I maybe sorta agree? Could you elaborate more? I definity think a clear case can me made for patriarchal thinking in certain religious groups, countries or with in the US like super old people. My identity is changing atm (gay to bi) but so many times in the past I felt almost used by women, like I am an accessory, the gay best friend. For this reason I have stopped continuing friendships that seem one sided. I feel in the past when I was apart of straight female groups I was the jester or clown, someone to say how great their makeup is, what outfit looks good and a source of comedy or someone to laugh at, like a circus animal. Some only seemed to accept me if I was “acting gay or outr…

A part of me wants to say it's all mostly rage baiting content for the algorium and for the sake of money but some people in the real world actual subscribe to misandrist points of view, it can be definitely hard to ignore when its thrown in your face irl.

I appreciate the openness but fundamentally disagree with your second point. It would be like me saying women need to emotionally abuse men less or be better communicators, comes off as generalizing and condescending. Just how do I decrease harassment, stalking etc. I don’t control other people, I can’t sign a contract on behalf of the world’s men. I am also receiving your second point as we can’t focus on men’s issues until women’s issues are virtually completely resolved, which will never happ…

Surface level I don’t dislike feminists, but I go on forms and interact with self identifying feminists irl and have bad experience after bad experience. Routinely so many self identifying feminists are cold, gaslight, are insufferable, routinely dehumanize men, use charged devise language, scape goat men, generalize, overly condescending, openly hateful, are borderline narcissistic etc. What i think feminists should know is be aware of the language and rhetoric your using, think about how it wo…

Not sure what to say, that's pretty fucked up, I'll try my best. Some tips might include: -Taking time away from dating for awhile and or taking it very slow/ taking time to heal and focusing on ur wellbeing. -Therapy (therapist who seems open to talking and supporting you, maybe a male one) -Finding a group of people you do trust and growing relationships from there, like a hobby club, exercise club, yoga, religious group if ur into that. -Maybe bad advice but maybe look into taking legal actio…

Idk I’m definitely skeptical that’s it’s relevant or helpful. Maybe toxic cultural differences might be more important? There are so many different types or men and women so saying that something is more prevalent in one group over another seems out of place unless it is strictly something to do with their gender. I think the saying is causation does not equal correlation or something like that. Ig you run the risk of attaching certain traits to one group ie men or women without taking into acco…

Gotcha, makes sense. I mean to a point everything I care about affects me in some way. I do care about things that may not deeply affect me a lot day to day. Like I care about litter and pick it up when I can for example. Also I care about far off wars but realize I’m pretty powerless thus care less. I care about men’s rights and it does affect me, but I don’t care about it only because it affects me. I personally think men’s issue(s)/rights are often forgotten accidentally or purposely. Maybe h…

Sorta, I think there is room for people who care even if it doesn’t necessarily affect them. Generally I think I’d agree with that, especially in the us. I do see a lot of people “caring” about certain causes that don’t affect them but in the end they get a sort of social credit/brownie points for caring if that makes sense, can boost their ego or image with little effort, which sorta means maybe they only care if it affects them…

I hear what you’re saying and what a lot of people say but I honestly don’t think it’s useful. I think gender-ing toxic-ness is a mistake since it conflates being masculine or feminine as a toxic trait in to many situations. Maybe it’s not that a person is engaging in toxic masculinity, but he or she is just toxic, ignorant, rude, an asshole etc. I think we’d all see more progress if we called out bad behavior without attaching an identity to it, since then others with in the identity are on the…

Honestly I’m becoming numb to most things or in other words I’m beginning to care less, accepting that most people don’t care about certain issues in society unless it makes them look like a noble, righteous or savior type person. I am a college student and wanted to start the discussion group/ club for men. Long story short didn’t really go well, the women I talked to wanted it to be about “men’s rape culture problem” and “toxic masculinity”. And after talking with other peers they said it soun…
