I guess for most of us it's a slow, often painful process to realize the reality is much different than the feminine-inspired bubble we are brainwashed to believe in. Hollywood is based around "one true romantic love", it's all a ploy to keep the status quo in tact and keep us all slaving away with the "higher purpose" being honour, respect from peers from conforming to society (marriage, kids, career etc), and "living a meaningful life" aka having kids and marrying a succubus. From my experience anyway, whenever I go out with the intention of picking up, nobody interesting shows up, but when I have no expectations and am just out for a few drinks and laughs with some random traveler friends, suddenly a potential woman walks in the door, and the less you care about the women, the more they seem to pop up.
