If they're resisting arrest, the cops are taught to do this. I'm a libertarian and what I'm saying isn't to excuse the cop, I think the force is excessive. But what I think and what is legal happen to be seperate. If I was on the jury I'd convict and say the law should hold this is excessive force. By strict reading of the law, this is much more complicated. He's likely legally innocent because he has a reasonable out in claiming that Floyd was making false statements about his ability to breath…

He was acting the same way in the car as he was on the ground, and requested to be put on the ground. Probably because of the massive dose of fentanyl he had taken to hide his drugs, just like he did last time he was questioned. It's hard to notice he can't breathe when he's screaming that before anyone touches him

Freedom of speech as described in the first amendment is just the governments promise to not violate your natural right to freedom of expression. When twitter doesn't allow that, its breaching the ideal of freedom of expression, not a law. Realistically the consequences are on the level of boycotts and bad press.
