What do you do for fun.Woodworking. It can be pricey, especially starting out, but its very good for keeping your mind and your hands busy. My tools were one of the few things I kept from the divorce, and I'm glad I did. Self-sufficiency and craftsmanship breeds confidence. I've built a lot of the furniture in my place, and I'm turning bowls on a lathe now. Letting a woman watch you knock out a bowl for her in 30 minutes to an hour while she has a glass or two of wine is a panty-melter. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/24 02:13 PM
HateIts going to hurt - a lot. But how they feel now is not how they may feel forever. Play the long game. If you ever need to talk, shoot me a DM. I'll be thinking of you, brother. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 11:08 PM
HateThere are people with worse stories and much, much worse outcomes. But I've talked to a number of colleagues who practice family law, and I've been told mine's one of the worst divorce stories they've ever heard. I say that not to brag in some perverse way or to seek sympathy; rather, I say it for this reason: I am not an exceptional or special person - I'm just a regular nobody out there in the world. If I can do it, YOU CAN TOO. Strap on your armor, we are with you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 06:07 PM
HateNot a stepdad - boyfriend/AP. Lost his own kids so he's moving across the country to play dad to mine. A doormat simp. There's plenty more but, outside of the context of my kids, it doesn't matter. Simply put, a weak, dishonorable male (not a man, a male). He avoids me at all costs - still never spoken a word to him. My two youngest and I are still really tight. Its been more of a struggle with the older boy. I love him unconditionally, but he is quite a bit like his mom, and he's gotten close w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 05:41 PM

HateMy ex tried to destroy me. She tried to have me committed, arrested, cheated on me, tried to hide the kids in another state, tried to incite me to violence in front of the kids, slandered me in front of everyone who would listen, tried to get me fired, abandoned our kids in the hope keeping me, them, and my job going would break me, stole tens of thousands of dollars, tried to make her new guy the father of my kids before we even were divorced, tried to alienate the kids from me, and is STILL tr… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 01:28 AM
What do you miss most? (serious)I don't miss her at all. I miss seeing my kids 52 weeks a year, and everything we built that she selfishly destroyed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 01:12 AM

What are some signs you saw in the beginning but ignored that later contributed to the reason to your divorceI'd love to hear the janitor's side of it, poor fucking guy. I bet he has some stories. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/01/24 11:30 PM
RegretsTHIS. Like Admiral Akbar said, "IT'S A TRAP!" When she's done, she's done - but that doesn't mean she won't leverage you and your kindness for fabulous cash prizes. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/01/24 09:25 PM
Need advice she keeps bring up divorce. I don't want one.Definitely talk to an attorney about this. I am an attorney who went to law school while married, and the judge hung the entirety of the outstanding debt on me, without an equalization. Some judges take the position that, since you will continue to benefit from the education after the divorce, the debt should be yours alone. Family law judges wield a wide amount of discretion, but supposedly they are to consider certain factors in determining how to assign the debt. You can do your Googles and f… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/23 05:29 PM
Meeting ex's new BF for the first time tonight - suggestions?Only when he comes in town. He lives half the country away, but on the weeks she doesn't have the kids she goes to see him or he goes to see her. They aren't permanently living together, yet. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/12/23 05:57 PM

Meeting ex's new BF for the first time tonight - suggestions?Nah, she's mine, looks exactly like me. AP (presumed) lives half a country away and its only been in the past 2 years that everything fell apart. I hear what you are saying, but my daughter is my kid. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/12/23 05:54 PM

Corruption in family Court.IAAL. Sorry for being a buzzkill, but more information is needed to know if there is corruption. What was the basis for the attorney fee award? Are you paying all her attorney's fees, or attorney's fees for a particular issue? Is the denial of discovery related to the attorney's fees issue? Did you recommend any mediators? If you brought nothing to the table (not your fault, really, you're not a lawyer), the judge has to pick someone. What discovery was denied and on what basis? All that aside, … | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/10/23 06:34 PM

How to dealHere's my advice - stop asking "why". "Why" doesn't matter. What matters is her behavior and your response to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/23 09:19 PM
It was never about the choresThis is incredibly accurate. Learning to not be codependent and find peace within yourself is the hard, but necessary journey. Thank you, and all the posters on this sub, for helping to guide the way out of darkness. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/10/23 10:22 PM
Does your ex refuse to see reality, understand what she did?The only thing my ex would cop to was failing to be harder on me during our marriage. This is a woman who slept with the detective that investigated a bullshit DV charge she fabricated. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/23 03:21 PM
Carrying OnYou hit the nail on the head. I was the steady provider, the hard worker who put his family first and sacrificed myself for them. I've been a great father and a pretty damn good husband, but now this dude is her soulmate and I've always been an abusive, controlling monster, according to her. Thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/23 04:38 PM
Carrying On"You do NOT need to let go, or even stop loving her. You do need to accept that the relationship is dead. Any you need to accept there is nothing you can do to change that." Man, that was like a punch to the gut, but you're right. I don't think I've accepted that, and that is what's killing me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/23 04:33 PM
Carrying OnAlready tried and failed - so far. Its an ongoing effort. Her big mistake was leaving me and the kids, then not speaking to any of us for 3 weeks. She was telling the kids I was dangerous and would hurt them, yet she left them with me while she partied out of state. I tell my kids to not only listen to what people say, watch what they do - and they picked up pretty quick mom was justifying her behavior by villainizing me. She currently claims I am brainwashing them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/23 04:28 PM
Carrying OnThank you for this, I appreciate it. I agree - I'm struggling to move on. I'm trying to shorten my vision - one day at a time. Looking too far into the future brings nothing but despair. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/23 04:24 PM
