thanks for the advice. Only problem is that, A: she knows I'm single and that I hate my ex... B: if she thinks I have a GF that will lower my chances of hooking up with her (pre selection is one thing, but it wont make most girls want to cheat with you)

it might sound cliche but "the game" is my personal favourite (my buddy gave me the pdf version but I bought a physical copy anyway) its less of a 'how-to' and more of an inspirational story IMO

same goes for either gender, but SMILING is VERY important, same with looking like you're having a good time (makes you seem more attractive and approachable). No matter how hot the girl is, if she's a bitch then thats a HUGE turnoff. Unlike women, we don't get approached nearly as much and being told 20 times in a row how attractive we are, so if you approach us and act like you are interested it'll give you major bonus points.
