Its going to be so tough at first. It hurts and feels like you are missing a limb. Find plenty of projects to keep you busy. If you have the option, try to facetime or video call with him to ease the separation anxiety. I know it sucks right now, but it will make you value your time with your son even more. Use the personal time. Go out with friends. Give that hobby the attention you've been neglecting to allow. Get projects done around the house. Above all else, reach out if it gets too hard. I…

Divorce is a constant roller coaster of emotions. The lows will eventually not sink as far, and the highs will become more frequent. It takes time however. In that time, choose to spend your time with friends and family. Enjoy yourself. Treat yourself. Use that time to discover what happiness means to you. I remember seeing a quote one time that said "Be with someone you love". It made a lot of sense when my wife left. Be your best self, and things will only get better for you

I don't want to use my anecdote as your truth, but I was in your same shoes and a month later I was told she was no longer interested in reconciliation. There is a fine line there between continuing to be a good husband, and getting walked over at the start of a divorce. Ultimately you know what's best for your situation and I wish you better luck than I had

This would be a no for me, but im not sure of your specific situation. Always let them know what they are, or would be missing

No, and I know those are just the intrusive thoughts. Id never leave my son like that. This whole thing is just a roller coaster of emotions, and no matter what happens the kid always loses in these situations. Just makes me sick. Guess its time to strap in and prepare financially to pay my life away

Prior to, and up until 3 months or so before my child's birth, she was working, so I guess that helps?

Thats kind of where im at right now. I was under the impression a mediator was there if you couldn't settle on a particular issue. We have everything settled. She said she would want some kind of child support, but nothing crazy high. Just something to supplement. Originally though, she said she wouldn't care if there was no child support though, so who knows. Women are mercurial

Yeah, that's kind of what im dreading potentially happening. Given everything that goes on with divorce and how lopsided everything is, its hard not to want to just fucking eat a barrel and let everyone be happier

My wife was a stay at home mom for the past 18 months. She stayed home with our kid ever since a few months before his birth. She said she is trying to get a job now however. I guess we would calculate everything after she has her job?

From what ive read, if the divorce is amicable, you can agree on an amount with the only involvement of the court being that they finalize the divorce and put everything on record 'just in case' Edit: No attorney yet. We both agreed that if one of us got an attorney that we would notify the other

Brother I was in your same shoes. She is still living rent free in your head. As others have said, forgive yourself. Allow yourself your proper grievance, and loss. Thats what a divorce is, loss. No doubt yours sounds like one of the more brutal divorces. You sound like you are still in love with your ex. Not the things that she put you through, but the memories, the affection (real or perceived), and the life yall built together. Thats over now. The acceptance and understanding that its over an…

Brother, I'm a month in and my situation sounds exactly like yours. Im still reeling emotionally. Im crushed. We have a 16 month old kid in the mix too. My STBXW always swore that divorce was not even an option. She always said she believed in working things out. She wrote and published a book a few months back and has been on tik tok and Instagram promoting it. Talking with a bunch of strangers who validate her needs for attention that I must've fallen short on. She went from 'divorce isn't an …

Yeah, ive been doing the same. I've lost 20lbs since she left. I just don't have an appetite. The gym let's me get my frustrations out. The physical pain matches what's inside and feels like home at this point. Aside from that, I'm trying to focus on the kid, and be the best dad I can be for him. He deserves that much

No matter wheo wins, the kids always lose. They lose the nuclear family and its not their choice. Its tough. Easy for someone to ask to keep the kids in mind when they weren't there for everything that came prior

I've definitely felt all of those. Just feeling crushed, useless, and not worthy of love after all of this. That's my irrational brain. The rational side of me says, fuck that. Hit the gym, eat right, and show her what she is going to be missing. Find happiness and put it on display. Realistically, things just arent that simple. Especially with a 14 month old kid in the mix.

Boundaries can be one of the hardest parts. Im early in separation (1 month) and idk if im not supposed to tell her I love her or that I miss her. She says I don't know her bc she felt like she had to be someone else for me to love her. Wtf do you even say to that?

How old are your kids? That makes these situations even harder to navigate. Sorry you are going through this man. Stay strong though

It definitely is brother. Im in therapy too. The wound is still fresh, but I work out 4 or 5 times a week now and am taking care of myself more than I have. Your physical being definitely effects your mental state. Be strong brother. Body and mind

Everyone deals with it differently. In my opinion, posting stuff on social media is to make people think what you want them to. She might be miserable. She might be having the time of her life. Neither are inherently wrong, but one definitely hurts a lot more than the other. Block all that shit out. Focus on yourself. If you have kids, put your focus into them. The suggestions about therapy are spot on. You never know how much you need it until you try it. Even if its just trauma dumping for an …
