And that's why I had one last week.

This is why men do not like going to marriage counselors. They're always at fault no matter what. As someone going into counseling, I can tell you that this is not an accurate statement.

If, as in the hypothetical presented here, a woman is raped and never realizes she was raped--that is, has no physical consequences (pregnancy, STD, injury) or memory of it--then it has done her NO material harm. At all. Was she violated? Yes. But she is unaware of the violation and suffers no consequences from the violation. To her, it is as if it has never happened. I don't think this is a practical example; it seems extremely unlikely. A circumcision, remembered or otherwise, ALWAYS results i…

It does permanent emotional damage. Also, it can do permanent physical damage.

Thank you for you insight. Feel free to PM me if you want more information on the process of adoption and/or how to deal with it. My girlfriend and I are still only in our mid twenties, so it'll be a long time away.

My god! If that happened to me, someone would either get shot or stabbed. I'm glad it worked out a lot better then it could have. I'm planning on adopting, and chances are that my child won't look anything like me. This is a huge fear.

You can't retract consent after the fact. Contemporaneous consent is what matters. Completely agree with you. There was actually a story on /rapecounseling in which a woman complained that she wanted him to stop, but didn't say anything because she didn't want to "be a bitch." She now feels bad about it and wonders if it was rape. The feminists over in /rc told her it was rape, which is ludicrous. If you're too polite to say "stop," then the man can hardly be held criminally responsible for that…

To the law enforcement yes, but they don't matter as much as a DA, a judge or a jury.

I addressed this in another comment: They are 7-year-old's. The hand gesture itself shouldn't necessarily be the issue but insubordination and disrespect. This is a poor article (not to uncommon from this outlet), and they seem to make it appear that the fact that the child had is hand on the shape of a gun to be the problem rather than the child pointing his hand at a teacher. I consider those to be totally different things, one fine and one not.

Clearly there is no legitimate reason to think a game like this will make someone a killer, but it is still probably not appropriate for school. At school there are times for play, and this is often how boys play. Growing up I played War with guns made from my hands and sticks. I was rowdy, aggressive, and liked to play-fight. That's how boys often are. Punishing that behavior puts boys who are naturally more inclined to behave that way at a disadvantage. I totally believe this belongs in /r/Men…

Just because we expect a man to ignore feelings, doesnt make it right. Society treats both men and women poorly in certain ways, and we shouldn't be apart if it.

It's not that I love pea shooters, I just love to be able to for a few hours for less than $20. Also, it's much easier to focus on trigger control, sight picture, and grip when recoil becomes a non-issue. My center-fire shooting has much improved when I start a session with rimfire. Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people die from .22's. It's a shame that people think of it as a toy. They are certainly able to kill someone, just not reliably stop them. I would never use one for self-defense unless it was…

You won't convince me that it isn't Why even have a discussion then? I'm not really a power guy. I'm typically very conservative and moderate through out my life. I'm not into fast car, or things being bigger than they need to be. Most of my trigger time is dry-firing to practice trigger control, and most of my shooting is .22 LR which is not considered a powerful cartridge. So, saying that it's about power specifically is a wrong statement for many gun owners.

I just received an answer for a question I didn't ask; I meant no offense in my previous post. Europe is an interesting place in regards to guns. I have lots of family in England and they can't believe what we're allowed to own and carry, and my Swedish sister-in-law believes civilians should not be able to own or use guns at all. Then there are some countries like Switzerland and the Czech Republic that are very permissive towards gun ownership for law-abiding citizens.

My question was not "where are you not from" but "where are you from". If you're not comfortable with answering you can just say that.

So you don't like the raw power it possesses? The .22LR doesn't really posses much raw power although I do own a "High-Powered" rifle. It's not really about that. At any rate, I was talking in general, not sports :) I would say in general people feel the same way I do. Guns in general (at least in America) are for fun, food procurement or self-defense, and I think that most gun owners find it unfortunate that we live in a world where people need such things for self-defense.

Power? I happen to like shooting as a sport. Spending a few hours with a .22 LR is a great way to spend an afternoon and has nothing to do with power.

You should go shooting, you'll find out they are just objects and not scary. If you are in Southern California let me know and I'll take you to the range.

Where did I say we should do nothing? There is a time and a place for defending against false rape claims (a serious problem), but /r/RapeCounseling is not that place. That subreddit exists for for victims to get help. Rape is forced sex without consent. If she said no, offered physical resistance, or wasn't entirely conscious, it's rape. It's also rape if there is the treat of violence. Anything else is not rape. The way he described the event, it doesn't sound like it met that criteria. The gu…

Let me start this off by saying I am a believer in Men's Rights. We have huge disadvantage in so much of life. I have seen it and I have experienced it. /r/RapeCounseling is primarily for rape counseling. People there are most sensitive on the issues regarding rape. If I see hurtful comments, claims that most rape claims are false, or attacks towards people, I will remove your comments, and ban you. /r/RapeCounseling is not the place to further our movement.

Sadly you rape fantasy is too unlikely. They way averages look men are typically superior physically. This is why I wish more women carried handguns and went through safety and defensive training.

So, my girlfriend and I joke about things that to other people really seem like misogamy, misandry, racism, and apathy towards things that really matter in public often. I could totally see us having a Facebook posts like this. In fact, you can look up a Facebook post of me acting totally unaware of serious emotional problems she's overcome, but in reality she just made a post after I drove to her her house (rather late, and I had work in the morning) on a really bad day, just to give her a hug …

I know the author's point was to condemn marriage, but I found the story flagrantly anti-governmental control of marriage. I love the idea of marriage, and one day I hope to be married. I see the government as the problem here. They force marriage to be slavery. It shouldn't be an economic contract, it should be a commitment out of love. The government has no part of it.
/r/MensRights27/07/09 01:36 PM

If you look at the right you'll see huge amounts of government involvement on issues (e.g. abortion, gay marriage, War on Drugs, etc.) I think this is a good tool to understand the political spectrum.

That man has much restraint. I'm a calm guy, but I don't know what I would do if someone took my daughter. I hope he get's her back, and that the daughter knows how much he loves her.

The slave contracts he supports are contracts that are voluntarily accepted with ones property. This wouldn't include people other than the one making the contract. For example, I can volunteer myself to be a slave but not someone else.

I think so as well. Block is so consistently right, I have yet to find our political or economic differences.

This is a great lecture by Walter Block on an Austrian approach to the wage gap. This is the best way I've seen to explain it to people.
