It's not. I'm just doing what you're doing. Making up a position that no one is actually taking and then pretending like that's the position were arguing.

No numbnuts. Because if someone confesses to a rape, the victim doesn't get un-raped. There is no value in a confession + no sentence over no prosecution. The judicial system has to balance different interests. Deterring crimes, a feeling of justice for the victim, reducing recidivism, cost to the taxpayer, and in the case of false accusations getting the innocent victim out of jail.

Citation? I've read a couple of studies on the subject and they came to the conclusion that increasing sentences does not reduce crime rate. The one that I can remember because I thought it was a very clever, was where they looked at criminals right before they turned 18 (when they are tried as children) and right after they turned 18 (when they are tried as adults) and they saw no decrease in crime rate after 18.

Let's only punish blacks. This game of making up arguments for the other guy and then criticising them is fun.

People like you are the reason we have so many problems with science illiteracy. Instead of looking up what you claim and seeing that the myth that harsher punishments deter crimes has been thoroughly debunked, you come in with your bullshit narrative ignore science and evidence and just assume that what you feel is true is actually true.

You think someone who's in prison for a rape they didn't commit feels that way?

Studies have shown that longer sentences have no effect on crime.

The reason the punishment for faking a rape charge and rape aren't the same is to entice these women to confess their lies. You can't undo a rape by the rapist admitting it, but you can undo a wrongful conviction if the woman who lied comes forward. So there has to be a balance between punishment for lying and incentive to come forward about lies.

It's the fucking dailymail. If it's not written in crayon by a child with a learning disability and a love for racism it's above their usual standard.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
