Average pay in 1908 was 22 cents an hour. Assuming 40 hours, that'd be $8.80 a week. It'd probably run you about $2.50 for all that stuff in today's money.

Dave Ramsey got a call 3 months ago from a woman whose boyfriend said he wouldn’t marry her until she was debt free. He told her to dump him because she has to prove herself financially and she’s a princess and deserves better. https://youtu.be/SwxuiHeI7RQ?is=zd08CK12EtbxRuZk But if you read the whole article here, it was actually pretty good because they talk about the couple working together to achieve financial goals, very important for couples who are getting married. In the article the guy …

I spent 4 years only getting sex 9 times. I would try to initiate and was rejected pretty much every night. She told me to back off so I did, just give her space thinking once the kids were older and things got easier with them we’d get back to normal. Then she files for divorce.

Yeah, for as much pain and misery she caused me, I still felt bad for seeing other women. I had to tell myself she wouldn’t hesitate to date anyone else. And that she might have already.

After mine, I reconnected with friends my ex-wife didn’t like and told me not to hang out with during our marriage. You need to reconnect with your old friends like I did.

A friend of mine has to pay his ex-wife $10,000 a month until she turns 65. His plans to retire early went out the door, as he will have to work until he’s 69. He still takes home $15,000 a month after alimony. I was shocked when he told me that, bitch makes almost twice what I do in one month doing nothing while I work a hard physically demanding job. Thankfully, I don’t have to pay my ex anything except child support which is bad enough.

I go to my daughter’s softball games Wednesday evenings and my ex’s dad always tries to chat me up like we’re still family and like he didn’t encourage her to kick me out and file. The father my ex had practically no relationship with before the separation 2 years ago is now really close to her. The rest of her family told her she was wrong but her dad encouraged her to end it. Of course he treated her mom like shit and ran off with another woman 45 years ago so I know where she gets it from. At…

Recently a 24 year old guy joined our home brewing club. We asked if he remembers 9-11 and he said “No, because I was born 3 months after it.” Him mentioning his dad is 3 years older than me made me feel ancient.

Very true on the kids part. My ex’s brother got married to a woman 15 years younger than him and had 2 kids with her. His 2 older kids were 13 and 9 when he met her and she wanted nothing to do with them and demanded he stop spending so much time with them. My current girlfriend is my age and she gets it about kids since she has two of her own. Plus I’ve had a vasectomy, she’s had a tubal ligation so we are both comfortable being done with having more kids.

Yeah, looking back at my wedding day photos in 2015 and how good of shape I was in when my oldest was born in 2018, made me realize how much I let myself go. Having 2 kids, brewing my own beer, Covid, eating whatever when I was separated and living in my old bedroom at my parents house made me realize I needed to get back in shape. I’m not blaming her for that, she lost weight (gastric bypass between kids and is currently taking Ozempic). I’m not having a surgery and I’m not taking a drug, going…

I told my ex-wife when she asked one year what I wanted for Father’s Day, I said pizza and ice cream for lunch and then left alone in the garage to tinker with stuff and brew up a beer. She made a big stink about how I act like a 12 year old wanting pizza and ice cream and to play alone in the garage. She said that’s stupid and she made me take the kids to the aquarium and the park while she stayed home by herself. After making her typical dried out well done steak. She spent Mothers Day a month…

Welcome! I told my gay cousin last year he has it so much easier than married straight guys because he doesn’t have to deal with women. When it was all said and done, I know I fucked up sometimes and I even told her mom that but her mom said her daughter was being unreasonable and ridiculous. Meeting someone else about a year after the divorce who showed me what real love is like and how toxic my ex-wife is. Everything except the phone. One time I saw her messages on the kids iPad and she constantly lied about me to her friends. One time she told everyone I left my dirty underwear on the kitchen counter which absolutely never happened. At the time she spent a week on vacation with her mom and came home to a clean picked up house, all the spring yard work done and most of the leftovers were eaten. I figured if all she can do is complain why keep trying?

Considering how much we fought and picked on each other as little kids, it’s amazing to see her be so protective of me. My ex-wife made some comment about how boring and awful my dad and I were. The minute she insulted my dad, my sister became much more protective of both of us. My sister is a wonderful woman and she knows what real good men are like.

Vicki Wegerle was one of the murder victims of the serial killer BTK. For nearly 20 years after murder, the police in Wichita suspected her husband of killing her but didn’t have enough evidence to convict him. But I’m sure that doesn’t stop people from speculating about it. Only when BTK sent Wegerle’s drivers license to the police did they knew who actually killed her. This is just how it is for men, they assume guilt until men can prove innocence.

I got married in late 2015, I was 35, she was almost 34. We had a very nice first 6 years together. Then it all changed. I now know she went through postpartum depression in 2021. I got 12 years with my ex. Here’s what happened with mine: Practically no relationship with her dad. Her dad left while her mom was pregnant with her. They really started connecting when she decided to divorce me because she left me just like how he left her mom. Yep, I tried so hard to be a good husband and an involved father and it was never good enough for her. Now when I have the kids, I return them with clean clothes, having them take showers/baths right before going home to her and full from the most recent meal. I do my best to keep them active with outside activities, I make sure they have quiet reading time and I have looked up ways to help children develop healthy lifelong habits. Not that she appreciates any of that.

You're lucky you don't have children. They would have made this whole thing a lot more painful and complicated, believe me. Otherwise just take care of yourself, date when you feel ready, don't date if you don't want to, if you have parents spend more time with them, if you have friends, spend more time with them, be grateful for what you still have and get bloodwork done and do an annual physical and plan a vacation, it's probably been a while since you did something like that just for yourself…

My uncle (my mom’s brother) didn’t. His wife packed up her stuff, walked out, moved in with a younger guy and left him with four kids to raise on his own. I just in the last 3 weeks met a woman through a dating site and she’s great, I’ve enjoyed our time talking together. Not ready to even say she’s my girlfriend, but I’m just glad she’s not ready to jump into bed right away. We are taking the time to know each other first. Up to and including my ex-wife, every woman I was with just couldn’t wait to have sex but now at 45, I’m more in to women who are more mature and want a real relationship first before sex. Not that I don’t want to have sex with…

I have no idea, at least with a death like that, she didn’t choose to leave. She didn’t take the kids away and talk shit about you behind your back and try to bleed you dry financially and start fucking some other guy. On the other hand, with a death like that there’s no good byes, kids grow up with only one parent and if there’s no life insurance you could be destroyed financially as well.

I think it’s a social contagion. Women want the perfect life with the perfect husband and perfect marriage because that’s what they’re sold on tv and movies but mostly social media. And when their husbands turn out to be regular guys with problems and faults like all people have, it’s suddenly all his fault for not being perfect. There’s plenty of women who don’t fall for this bullshit, but my ex-wife sure did.

She changed a lot in 11 years. I met up with her mom and brother one night after the divorce for a few beers, they felt they don’t know her anymore, not just how she treated me but treats their whole family. They really loved me and they never wanted me to go.

My ex-wife admitted she treated me like shit because she wanted me to cheat on her. She could then divorce me and make me out to be the bad guy not only to her friends and family but mine as well and make the kids hate me. But that didn’t work.

Yes. Not very lonely at first because it was so nice not having to go home and worry about what kind of mood she would be in. By July, about 9 months afterwards, it got lonely, it sucked having nobody to be with. I’d go to a friend’s house and there was their wife, there was their kids and I came home to nothing every night. I was listening to the radio yesterday and the lady on it said the two most popular Father’s Day gifts are 1. Time with the kids. And 2. A hand drawn card. The lady said that men are making us moms look bad because she wants more than time with the kids and a card for Mother’s Day. Honestly, a 12 pack of beer and a jar of peanuts would be great too. That’s what I’ve been giving my dad every year for the past 15 years and he’s happy with that.

When I was married, I’d go to work at 5 AM and sometimes not get home until 8 PM. And yet she’d complain I was too lazy and never helped out with anything. And I was always doing the dishes and putting dinner away and taking out the trash and picking up the living room and taking the kids to bed. I’d finally get to sit down at 10 and she’d get upset that I wasn’t doing anything that night.

Yeah, my wife complaining about mental load is annoying when I work 13 hours on a family farm, dealing daily with my mom’s deteriorating health, dealing with more work as my dad and uncles retire, dealing with all the finances and scheduling appointments, working with vendors and suppliers, dealing with government inspectors and insurance companies, worried about rising prices and seemingly lower commodity prices, it’s all a lot on my plate. But again tell me how you worked 8 hours in a comforta…

Right before my 20 year high school reunion in 2018, I noticed a girl I went to HS with and was familiar with, her dad died. I asked about him at the reunion and offered my condolences, she said she had to suck it up and talk nice about him at the funeral, even though he was an angry drunk who would hit her mom, her and younger brothers.
