f a woman earns all the money and the husband stays home, the woman isn’t given a free pass on housework, either. I am sure you have hypothetical examples that you “see all the time” of an uneven expectation based on gender, but as the expression goes “screen shots or it didn’t happen”.

Excel spreadsheets, bro, come on... where’s your dignity. If she’s so evil, just break up ffs. What do you think you’re going to gain from all of this? And before the downvote express leaves the station, I’d argue OP has been put through so much bullshit, he’s lost perspective and thinks this passive aggressive bullshit is “normal” - this is the hallmark of being in a relationship with a narcissist that has warped your sense of self - the only “victory” you can score against a narcissist is gett…

I would agree “gay fathers married to/divorced from a women” rights are the same as “straight fathers married to/divorced from a women” rights. But in a “gay dad” married to/divorced from a “gay dad” situation, the gender is equal - no matter what, parental custody is 100% with a dad lol

In the case of the LTQ+, I would agree. But for the “G” and the male “B”, the goals of MR apply to them as a matter of objective fact. For example; MGM impacts gay men and bisexual men. However, gay adoption rights is not an MR issue - it’s a gay rights issue.

I feel like this is a trap. I speak only for myself I am a white gay man. I have felt this way since birth. I identify and present as a man on every dimension. Most people don’t know I am gay unless I tell them. I lived a long time in the closet so my life experience has been very much the same as a straight guys. I find nearly every 100% of MR applies to gay men since we also have pieces of our dicks cut-off. We also have our voices (as being men) marginalized in the workplace, social discussio…

This post doesn’t have any business on the sub and is the kinda shit we’re going to want to avoid. OP didn’t ever say Trans-men’s rights were the same as Men’s rights. In fact, OP doesn’t even use the word “rights” at all. It’s a collection of observations in how family members express affection based on if the family member is M or F, and the “F” treatment seems a lot nicer and more loving. These are legitimate observations. The part at the bottom about toxic masculinity is a little silly but s…

What a strange year; the smackdown Justin Bieber laid down on his false accuser is the single most important moment in the last 6 months with this kind of bullshit. I am not saying Justin Bieber was ever great or terrible in his music/choices/actions... just who would have known JB would be an “anti-cancel culture” hero.

It isn’t superficial - one of the goals of BLM is eliminating latent glorification and symbols of oppression. I am not saying it’s right/wrong but to declare the precise achievement of a goal as a superficial victory + a sweeping generalization “they hate America” (which isn’t true about the mass majority of those involved in the BLM movement) has revealed something here - you’re bias.

Calm down. I picked the examples I picked because they prove my point. Just like you picked examples from history that proved your point. Just like everyone. That’s how debate works. We can have a rational debate based on our respective examples or you can freak out and attack me for “cherry picking.” I actually mean this - I think your are above it as you seem to have well thought out opinions. Incorrect. the scenes from I Love Lucy described by the author in the article are objectively true. those objectively true scenes destroyed his “whataboutism” supposition that Lucy was just as abusive to Ricky as Ricky was abusive to Lucy. he didn’t like that, so he attempted to discredit the author by attacking the she is a feminist even though the events she described in her article are objectively true and her feminism has nothing to do with it. The dictionary defines ad hominem as “marked by…

I categorically reject this. I am 38 and some of these cliches used to kinda/sorta be true sometimes with my generation (replace “woke” with “feminist”), but now days young men try harder than ever to find common ground and they’re rewarded with prejudice and discrimination so severe that it’s giving them mental health issues. He might have been regarded as a jerk before doing it, but his personal character isn’t on trail here. What is on trial is how gender roles frame the over-arching concepts of behavior of one gender toward the other. In this case, it was at least socially permissible (even if jerky) to commit murder and infanticide. What about her? Was she okay with it? Was she a jerk also? Irrelevant, irrelevant, and irrelevant. The point is a guy was seen as a jerk for killing a baby instead of being seen as de…

Nope, not as pithy as a 15 second youtube clip, but I am talking about this: “...several episodes have Ricky threatening to spank his wife, who (on the show) routinely cries like a child and treats him like an irascible father. He grabs her by the ear in one episode, and another is dedicated to how black eyes sometimes do happen from walking into a door. But this business about the "allowance" shocked me more than the routine joking about domestic violence. That's partly because it feels more un…

Your supposition that 1957 qualifies as modern technology simply because of the existence of a TV is pretty silly considering the device in your hand right now is connected to at least one civilian satellite orbiting the planet. We didn’t even land on the moon until 1969. (but I don’t think that necessarily invalidates your point) Also Lucy bossing Ricky around is not even close to his actions of controlling her by withholding money nor physically/sexually assaulting her by spanking her. I feel like you were posing the concept that rape isn’t shameful (I agree), but I think it’s still shame that holds men back from dealing with it - that shame was invented by women to further the “women are powerless victims of the patriarchy, pity us” rhetoric. Ever feeling shame from being raped makes no sense. Shame is something you feel about your own choices/decisions - not the choices/decision of others. If someone over-powers/manipulates you for sex against your choice, what reflection do…

Haha It was me trying to clever. Its word play on the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” - No matter where they are, they are connected by a pair of jeans that they take turns sharing -- pants that fit all four girls and exemplify their tight bond. Yeah, thats the gimmick of the movie - girls connect through a clothing item.

I kind of think he’s right... maybe? Women do handle rape poorer than men because of victimization culture that has programmed women to believe if they are raped, they were ravaged by a monstrous, filthy predator that splattered his demon seed all over the pure, pristine walls of her nuck nuck and now she is also filthy, used, broken, shameful, disgusting, worthless, helpless... that she has to be suspicious of every man on the planet and now her life is over - she will never be the same person.…

Basically wanted to re-write history to sell this idea gender roles were ever a good thing. Women absolutely were subservient to men - you don’t even have to go that far back in history to see it. Watch the episode of I Love Lucy in which Ricky spanks Lucy for ruining one of his suits and then docks her allowance $100 as punishment.

Following a rape, women are given Plan B at the hospital as a precaution. If they don’t want to go to the hospital, there are also drugstores. Pregnancy doesn’t even have to start as long as a woman is paying attention and responsible. But sure... abortions are the fault of men.

So, 44,000 immigrants from Eritrea, Somalia, Indonesia, Egypt and Nigeria mutilated their daughters genitals... And the solution is "empowering mothers to protect their children." But... “FGM is usually initiated and carried out by women, who see it as a source of honour and fear that failing to have their daughters and granddaughters cut will expose the girls to social exclusion.” Seems like the solution is taking kids away from mothers that come from wackadoo backwards cultures?

Nope - my employer doesn’t need to be involved in the employee’s personal lives. I support personal UNPAID leave of absences, but my employer should not be picking reasons that are worthy of compensation and which aren’t. Many of those women have families, why are only the women painted as the victims and not their dependent children? It’s not like most women were spending their income on beer and cigarettes - the loss of income hurts their kids, not them, but no mention of kids in the wholeeeeee article. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Meet the dads asap. It will be awkward, but the sooner, the better - for most daughters, they are the role models of an ideal men or the object of their angst. If the dad is not in the picture and she’s bitter about it - RUN. If the dad is a professor at a liberal university - RUN. Also, take a look at mom as well, if she seems like a feminist - RUN. Edit: What other “parental red flags” can y’all think of?

In a general way I could generally agree with OP (two generals and a “could” for emphasis), but I see where you’re coming from. As a truly honest question, how do you reconcile your perspective with free agency? E.g. The older man/younger woman troupe - feminists will insist a younger woman has no free agency to make her our choices, the man MUST be a sexual predator. With “brainwashed” men... you describe them as though they have no free agency - you don’t allow that maybe they decided that’s h…

This is not a criticism - just my subjective belief based on my subjective life experience. Women are the ultimate team players - when they join forces for a common goal WATCH OUT because they have an extraordinary connection to one another that transcends their need for personal expression (again, my opinion) and a nearly endless capacity to support one another. On balance, men tend to be much more comfortable asserting their individual selves over the priority of a group. I am not saying women…

First: I‘ll call out I am a gay white male. Second: I appreciate your question. I don’t take it as offensive, even before your edit. I guess it comes down to if you consider it “Men’s Rights” or “Straight Men’s Rights”. Although I don’t date women, I am still worried and extremely careful about how I interact with women at work - being gay isn’t going to “protect” me (maybe in the 90’s/10’s “oh don’t flatter yourself, sweetie, I am a homo” would have worked once or twice... maybe). I just changed my voice assistant to a male voice - his name can still be Siri/Alexa because this is 2020 and strict gender based names are DEAD. Demanding we perceive voice assistants in a certain gender context based of the older/larger gender stereotypes around who can be named what (and how the name defines them) isn’t helpful.

It’s not much guidance, but I’d offer the sentimentality of dads is way understated. Also, based on my experience, dads are way more likely to gush to their friends/coworkers at work about their kids than they are other places - they don’t act like it, but the value of a reminder/momento of why they bust their hump at work is a huge to them. Maybe just a picture of the two of you in a nice frame that isn’t too big or flashy might be a winner.

What’s worse, is some women will agree the woman took advantage of him and call her a gold digger. What they NEVER consider is maybe both were consenting adults and knew what they were getting into? If I were 70 with a lot of dollars and few years to live, I’d gladly marry someone with the knowledge they’re thinking about their long-term financial security - as long as they’re a decent person, genuinely have a good time with me, and can be trusted (ahem pre-nup ahem) to be there holding my hand …
