Researchers typically don't to understand statistics and experimental design theory well enough to support their research. Unfortunately, statistical computing software has allowed everyone to perform analyses without understanding what they're doing and then calling the results significant. Researcher degrees of freedom is a real thing. TLP was a wonderful blogger until he got doxxed.

I've been learning the terminal and git for the past 2 weeks. Keeping your head down and one foot in front of the next. You've made great progress already. Working out? Ok, don't worry about it at your schedule. That's a tomorrow problem. I don't know how to be a dev though I do work with them. My sense is that it's like most things: grind and get lucky. Most went to college for it but certainly not all.

Money and power are somewhat positively correlated but money alone and sex are weakly negatively correlated. I'm exhibit A of having a vastly better sex life in college as a student-athlete than when I was a junior trader making ~25X what I scraped together in college. I have no idea why people don't discard the blue pill notion that money and sex are positively correlated.

Networking is going to meetings with actual employers and places they hang. Sounds miserable. When I was interviewing for my first job as an energy trader, we spent most of lunch discussing the high points of my home city's (impressive) strip club scene. Incidentally, I got the position over a Rhode scholar in part because I could successfully interact with another human being for more than 90 seconds.

Sure, take them in the summer or whatever and graduate in three years. Not hard and reduces the burn. The money saved, for a state school, isn't worth the bigger picture cost of coming in junior year knowing no one.

I've seen eight and nine figure divorces. Not yet ten, but I'm making good odds on one soon enough. There's no rock solid way to (legally) protect assets. Pre nups can reduce the expected cost. Ultimately, if you want kids, you're going to have to enjoy the gamble.

Sure, you'll have to take a couple of classes -- I think that it was about 5 as a math major at my university. Frankly, the talent is a lot better than in ODE, so enjoy it. You can publicly take it all the feminist ranting with a grain a salt and improve your odds with aforementioned talent so long as you're not too weird about it.

I seriously sat down and questioned why I am going to college, spending a huge amount of money to only learn how females are 'oppressed' in society and have been throughout the ages. Social sciences are somewhat to the left of Che on gender issues. Plan accordingly. Though I did get know Biblically my rabidly feminist English teacher; not an opportunity I would have availed myself to in number theory.

An interesting side affect here is that almost all of our female students are really good while the men follow a pretty standard normal distribution. I studied the M.
