Listen to your friends. It is far better to ride the middle ground and make slow, steady self improvements than to ride yourself over every little thing. You won’t even notice the changes piling up, but they will. Enjoy the last part of your 20’s. If social media is a tool for you, use it as such. Nothing is “good” or “bad”, it either serves a purpose or it doesn’t, and sometimes the purpose of a given thing is simple enjoyment or convenience. Change isn’t a project you start, it’s just a new wa…

I learned this a long time ago so my vocabulary may be off, but your brain has two hemispheres, and the cerebral cortex, which connects them. The thicker your cerebral cortex, the easier it is to connect "left" and "right" brain thinking. Women tend to have a thicker cerebral cortex than men, which is why women tend to be better multitaskers, can jump fluidly from one subject to the next, can pick up tiny little social cues better than men. It also explains how men are able to compartmentalize s…

Thank you, I’m glad to hear it worked out for you. That seems to be how we are communicating right now and I wasn’t sure if it was typical. We spoke about the future briefly, but that needs more discussion and I’m hoping we get to that soon. That’s another one where I could be very flexible but would need ample time to plan for.

Not all dates work out, this one might have just been a test for you, and it sounds like you learned a lot. I don't think you really messed up in any notable way here. You made an effort but missed the mark, and honestly I don't think you are missing out on anything with this guy. He missed the mark too. Figure out your style, and try to buy some flexible pieces-- things you could wear or match a few different ways based on occasion. Or a few pieces that are a little ambiguous. Nice pants and a …

I’m also 26 and I go through seasons of what you feel, largely for the same reason. Your problem is getting. It is hard to get a guy when you don’t know the signs of a good man. The guys you date probably don’t seem so bad when you begin dating them, and sometimes you just can’t anticipate what someone will do— but there are things you can definitely avoid. Sometimes you get a vibe off a person— maybe the date is going great but it feels impersonal. Run, likely player. Maybe you’re trying to hol…

I personally would go see him one more time and see if that makes the reason apparent. Sometimes you just subconsciously know something isn’t right and disengage— or maybe there is something more obvious you haven’t come to terms with yet. Maybe the feeling will go away when you see him. I would just not want to end things with this lack of knowing. If he’s really a great guy, one more date won’t hurt. It may give you the clarity you need.

Think of high neck tanks, tight turtlenecks, jeans with dynamic fit/cut. You can also insinuate feminist/sexiness without showing any skin by using shoes or jewelry alongside an otherwise plain outfit.

Instead of putting yourself under such strict guidelines to be a certain way, think about what would actually make you *feel* happy. Do you like working hard at your job? Because that's a great thing. It means you're passionate and have a great work ethic. If work is stressing you out, there is almost definitely something you can scale back on. Maybe your diet is too restrictive, maybe you could rethink fitness (fewer session, try to be more active in every day life, different type of workout). …

Passive is taking what is handed to you, whether it's good or bad. Submissive is when you find someone whose judgement you trust, someone you can defer to, and do. You can also be passive by not having an opinion, or by not speaking up when you need something. It's important to do those things and to learn to voice them in a way that serves the collective goal.

I think it's best to dress the age you *look*, with your real age *in mind*. Most people are just going to see you in passing, they don't know how old you are-- so if you are 50 and look 30, 50 year old clothing is going to be perceived as "wrong" on you. If you're 30 and look 50, 30 year old clothing is going to be perceived wrong on you. That said, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. There should be a middle ground.

That sounds horrible, to actually go to the place and wait. I also made a call to my mom this evening pretty upset over this. It is more the letdown than the actual cancellation. Not like you're losing a relationship, but it's hard when someone takes your time away.

It's odd, this used to be kind of a rare occurrence, but this month it has been consistently bad. Good first dates or lots of time spent talking, then this happens.

Yeah, the ex was not a good choice. One of these guys was from a dating site, and the one I was supposed to meet tonight was introduced by a friend. I try to let them do the chasing, especially because all of these setups were still in their early stages. I feel like I need to step up a little bit to lock down dates, but then it feels like I am becoming the pursuer by doing that. I'm also not sure how many chances you give someone when they do this. The guy today is a great catch, but I feel lik…

Dancing can be awkward. I was going to say that you may loosen up for when you feel confident, which is true, but maybe you just feel awkward dancing. If you feel that way (about dancing or ANYTHING), at least try to have fun. You don't have to be good at it to look good doing it. As for the rest, remember, you're doing thing to work toward your goals-- don't be so hard on yourself. Accutane is most likely going to clear you up, and you can also begin working on your skincare routine if that isn…

I am coming from a similar place as you, and I personally do not follow a full RPW philosophy. I just don't agree with everything about the lifestyle, but I can say that there are some hugely helpful aspects of RPW and it is possible to be an independent, professional woman and still use this philosophy to your advantage. So much of it is just about softening. If you are argumentative, cut back on that. No nitpicking, don't correct him needlessly. If you're going to debate, be flexible and playf…

I think you have misunderstood the question. I am not embarrassed by what I do or where I am, but I feel I look physically different than the women he regularly encounters. I do not have appropriate clothing for the kind of dates he likes to go on, and have a schedule that leaves little time for primping. Women in his field tend to have much more disposable time and income, and it shows in their appearance. If keeping myself looking good for him is a priority, I cannot ignore the fact that I spe…

I have had a man blatantly tell me that he doesn't like having the formal discussion and that it should be obvious when two people are together. I don't fully agree with this, but notice that its a common theme. I think it is fairly easy to tell if a man is sleeping with other women, in which case I wait them out. If I know a man is only seeing me, then its all down to character judgement and how I anticipate things growing.

To me, this surgery sounds very shady (not your role in it, just the surgery). In my mind, rape is not sex. It wasn't a choice you made, and it is certainly not the same experience as love making. I have been raped at an age where I could remember, and I cannot look at that experience as a sexual encounter in the least. I think you would find greater peace of mind if you could come to a similar conclusion of your own. I would see a therapist before I ever went through what is likely to be a very…

I'm 26 and still get mistaken for a high school student, but there is still a difference between what I look like now and what I looked like at 19. You may have facial features that mature differently than other people's but you will still "evolve" as you get older. I was still losing some of the fat off of my face at 19, and definitely still figuring out style. I know what you mean though, because sometimes age disqualifies you in ways that have nothing to do with your level of attractiveness. …

We are fairly new together, so it isn't that he's expressed preferences, but this issue has been on my mind even before him, especially as I get a bit older. I've begun to notice that there are differences in the way successful women are styled-- they're very put together, classy, and confident. I'm concerned that once out socially, he is going to get a good side by side comparison and no longer see me as his peer. I have this lifestyle and look much younger than I am, and just want to be taken …

I don't think this was ok for him to do, but if you are still considering a relationship, I suggest you just bring it up-- his reaction will tell you everything. I think part of being a good partner is making sure everyone is comfortable. This was first time sex and he didn't do that. He didn't put you first, he didn't do anything to make the first time special, he was rough enough to cause pain and did not check in with you on that. You are allowed to decide what this was, but at the very least…

If what the person above posted is true to your situation, I was in that same spot for years and I can tell you that once you are out of it life does get easier. I still look back and have trouble wrapping my mind around those two opposing truths; but it isn’t our job to look out for the men who do this. If you think only of yourself, your timeline, your possibilities, your needs— you are probably letting a lot pass you by. Not every man who comes after will make you feel the way this one made y…

DBT is a kind of therapy that teaches you how to calm down, stop the driving anger/hysteria/whatever emotion, and then word things in an efficient way. Amazon sells some cheap workbooks and they’ve been helpful not just in how I express myself when I’m upset, but also how to deal with my thoughts when I’m alone. I think every adult would benefit from it.

Beyond doing the obvious in terms of self improvement, everyone is going to hit a wall. There is only so much a person can do (or so much they are reasonably going to want to do). What I try to tell myself is that there are other women with my hair color, my body type, my humor, my attentiveness— but it’s going to be hard for a man to find my particular combination of those traits in another woman. My background lends me different opinions and ways of doing typical things. I may choose to wear a…

I have friends my age, but I'm running into issues with women at work and have had a few women try to take a pass at partners. I'm easygoing and feel like that's being taken the wrong way by more aggressive women.

Everybody's first time drunk is usually embarrassing. Not that you should be making a habit of this, or drinking at 16, but I think you should look at this as a growing pain, not a tick against you as a woman. I don't think it would be possible for a first time drinker to anticipate the way alcohol is going to affect their body or behavior. In general, drunkenness is unattractive because you lose control (and probably don't realize it). It is always smart to know how much you can handle, and hav…
