Right?? So many women are going to read this and say, "Wait, I can do that?!" They're providing a brief on what FDS is all about for so many women who might not have come across FDS philosophy otherwise, and yeah, it does make FDS sound pretty badass. They keep our name in their mouths in an attempt to shame us, and it keeps having the opposite effect, as evidenced by our increasing member count. For all their reeeeeeeing, they're just spreading our word for us. Thanks scrotes! 👍😁

I got a comment removed because it was considered hate speech by auto mod for saying that I h*te mehn when I described how my neighbor's friends try to holler at me from their driveway when they have their "drunk Thursday" every week. But even more violent and ugly comments about women all over Reddit are 👌 The hypocrisy.

That's 200,000 women who will touch the life of at least 1 other person. FDS has absolutely helped me change my life in positive way. I am teaching my children and tge women around me who I love hat there is another way to exist, and that our existence, as it is, is valid and valuable, regardless the status and state of our relationships with others. Here's to ruthlessly and unapologetically putting our interests first. And here's to the healing that will come with it. Cheers to us all, Queens!

So I don't know how others might feel about this, but I think think that the only privacy we truly have is in our own self, as in our own heart and mind. Anything written down carries the risk of being found. Whether written in a journal (which yeah, does carry some expectation of privacy), or on a computer, which might not have as high an expectation of total privacy if she had used it before with his permission. Having said and thought all that, this is the conclusion I'm getting to: he knew t…

I'm in that demographic, and I have already started that Golden Girls life lol. Housedresses are awesome, just sayin' 🤷‍♀️ And damn, life is peaceful when one realizes that they are allowed to be the sole determinant of their lifestyle, time, emotional and mental output and input, and financial priorities. And that when we do this after learning to trust ourselves and by putting our interests first, life is beautiful. I joined FDS for the reasons that most of us probably did, but I'm perfectly h…

Holy shit. What a load of whiney, entitled, scrote-tastic psycho-babble. Wants to frame it outside the parameters of morality, but one of the first arguments presented for why we shouldn't judge the father who leaves his family is because of the possible suffering and agony he might be feeling. So, don't judge the deadbeat based on morality, but we (women/society) should absolutely view his behavior through the lens of our morality, and feel bad for him because he suffers. Fuck this sham of a "p…

To talk at. Yes. Exactly. A mistake I made, without knowing what I do now, was thinking that because he opened up to me about a lot of things, that he was feeling the same kind of intimacy that I was in hearing all he had to say. He had even joked and called me his "hot therapist." I'm offended by that now. But yeah, I was talked at, "we" weren't talking. I was serving as his therapist, which is what I was studying toward. The same space was provided for me to open up, but because I was in thera…

I dated a man a couple years ago who I adored. He was successful in his field, attractive, pursued me hard, talked about a future together, and did all the right things. But we didn't date for long, maybe 4 months. The reason he gave for wanting to not see me anymore (but wanting to remain friends, a big red flag, among many others, which I came to recognize later) was that he was jealous of me. At that time in my life, I was working 3 jobs and pursuing a degree for one of my jobs. It astounded …

Beatles are so awfully overrated. The last man I dated in any form was a Beatles fan. Like, it was part of his personality. He thought he really was so unique and had superior "pop culture tastes" because he idolized a band who half the fucking world idolizes. It was fascinating, really. I had already developed my own set of beliefs about fanboys in general and recognized the red flags associated with the type of personality that becomes obsessed with and knows a pop culture figure better than h…

Omg. I saw all the other comments about how big the age difference was, but hadn't seen what their ages were till you specified his age... utterly disgusting. Blurring the lines between coach and lover is such an abusive dynamic. He simulataneously is the most critical relationship, and the most "loving" and intimate relationship in her life. And for most of her life too! What a mindfuck. What a piece of trash he is.

It's exactly that; it's about power for them. They had the marriage, the woman who put the marriage above her own well-being (many times, I can't claim that this is the case of all marriages), and the children to prove their generic superiority, and they see all this as proof of their worth. So much so that, especially in cases of cheating, they see themselves as worthy of even having more than one woman! The divorce exposes their faults and failings. And they HATE US for it. It's almost like do…

Are you me lol? Because that sounds very similar to how part of my divorce played out. The JUDGE ordered my attorney to help my ex-husband "figure out" how to file a response and how to navigate the process. Then my ex went MIA for two years. His best friend even wrote to me telling me that he was purposely avoiding being served and rejecting certified mail of court documents. Which was very typical of our marriage. There was always a sad story based in some childhood trauma to explain his inabi…

I just had a similar experience at a store yesterday. A man stood uncomfortably close behind me in line as we waited to pay. I was wearing a mask, and he was so close that I smelled his ashtray breath when he hacked a cough out, that's how close he was. I finished putting my stuff on the belt, and stepped in front of my cart to put it between me and him. When it was time to pull my cart forward, he again stepped so close that I could smell him. It was awful. They absolutely know. I'm done preten…

I'm very lucky in that I rarely have to interact with men who would ask something like that. I've also stopped telling them what I studied and did for work too (mental health) because it was interpreted (not like they needed much encouragement 🙄) as an invitation to dump emotionally. (It fucking wasn't.) But to answer the original question, if it's an online conversation and I get a neg-based question, I ignore it and block. If it's in person, I'll say something about how fortunate I am to have …

I'm proud of myself for having reared 10 monarch butterflies to maturity and released them. I've learned a lot about it in the month that I have been doing it. There are several other personality and self-realization milestones I've achieved in the last month that I'm proud of. I've made it through 3 surgeries since November to reconstruct after a mastectomy. The butterflies might be analogous to my personal metamorphosis. That just hit me 😁 I love this sub. I love reading about everyone's achie…

I left my ex-husband 5 years ago. I joke that it was the best thing that happened to me since meeting him. Not so jokingly, I also say that I am joyfully divorced and peacefully single. It's no exaggeration that this subreddit gave me the model for changing my mindset and for genuinely living my joy and peace. Congratulations! The best of life is waiting!

Hey thank you! It was a lot of background to help give the reason why I so emphatically agree with OP, and everyone else who relates.

I recently (from 5 years ago till last November, and ongoing, in that order) have gone through some significant changes: a divorce, weight loss of 100 pounds, and a breast reconstruction for a necrotizing mastitis infection. (The mastectomy was 10 years ago.) The physical, mental, and emotional work that has gone into creating the life I want since my divorce (which my health, and through extension, my body is a part of) has deeply impressed within me a belief: I have worked too damn hard to let…

I appreciate the spirit within which you submitted this post. I'm seeing this situation through the lens of a woman who was in a similarity abusive relationship, was able to get out, and who has subsequently been granted the grace and strength to help other women in the same way through my education and work. Vetting a partner literally can mean life or death, you're absolutely right. Too many women aren't even aware this concept exists, that they don't have to allow their life to slowly be suck…

I'm relatively new here, and while I value the benefit of this sub in a way that I can't sufficiently express, the view that women who are conditioned into becoming "pickme's" deserve ridicule seems counter to the entire FDS philosophy. I'm glad I'm not the only one who took issue with the title.

I just posted a comment along this vein. Thank for seeing the same thing I did.

I have to ask, because I'm relatively new to this sub: do we equate the state of being a "pickme" with being abused? I know that sometimes yes, we develop a "pickme" attitude and mindset because of abuse, but what I read in this story (the story op submitted) is abuse, not blatant and self-imposed self-depreciation (and the ridicule that would be "appropriate", but isn't really) that we could assign to a nebulous, not personally known, "pickme" person. I hope the woman in op' s story can heal ph…

This. I have done this with complete strangers and men I know well. What I hope will happen is that my stare will convey the inappropriateness of what they have just said or done, and that it can prompt some introspection. It usually at least serves to disarm the aggression that they were acting within. Unfortunately though I think most times it just causes them to think they're dealing with another dumb woman. I'm remembering one incident specifically where I was checking in to a campground tha…
