Huh, interesting. That's not my experience talking to women.

I'd advise talking to some girls that advocate for these spaces. They will likely tell you something similar to what I just said. You don't have to believe a fellow guy when I say that women have to go through this shit. But if you ask a girl and they say this, I think it's only fair of you to believe them.

You're missing my point. Women are unhappy getting checked out. And being disrespected. Ask yourself, if it was that easy a fix why would they go through the trouble of getting an all women's space? You can see how they have to struggle to do it. I've seen some reasons on this thread, none of them particularly convincing. Most of them are just like "simple logic, if women get one, men get one". Or like "women don't deserve to get pampered more than we do". Those don't take into account the fact …

Women not being able to work out in peace is discrimination. You not having your own little space to work out is not discrimination. We can suck up having to wait a little extra for a space to work out. Women should not have to suck up being ogled at. Also no one has really addressed why men need their own space in their first place. I'm starting to be convinced that there isn't any good reason.

I'm glad you can see that this the scenario I described is a problem. The thing is, regardless of what you or I think women go through, this is exactly what girls talk about when they say they need a safer place to work out. Otherwise there wouldn't be a demand for women-only workout spaces in the first place.

I'm a horny guy too so I see where you're coming from. Sometimes being asked out a lot doesn't seem like the end of the world at all. But a lot of these girls are less interested than we are. Let me put this another way. Imagine you're working out somewhere where a lot of gay people work out. Then, you can't work out without those gay guys ogling at you, making seductive motions, winking at you. Sometimes they come over and ask you to brunch. Laughing all the way. They tell you you're not benchp…

It's a tricky situation but it's about as good as it gets. I don't think we want to be like some conservative country in the Middle East where boys and girls have to live in different spaces and you can never interact with women that aren't related to you. That's what would happen if women /had/ to work out in the women's only area. But alas, there still is a need for a women's only area. And I wouldn't call it "special treatment" either. Is being given a space where you don't get violated "spec…

Idk. You can complain about more than one thing at a time. You complain that the guy at McDonald's forgot to put pickles on your burger. Does that mean that the burger is literally the only thing wrong with your life? No, not necessarily. But I'd still get pissed off and I think that's ok too. And about mansplaining, I think that one's actually pretty serious. Wouldn't you feel upset if you had great ideas, but women always said that you didn't explain it well? And then they repeated the exact s…

Boy this is a tricky one. I have sisters who are afraid of going to the gym. Sometimes they can't focus because strangers are staring at them. Sometimes people will approach them and try to ask them out or offer unsolicited advice about their form when all they want to do is clear their mind and relax just like we do. In other words, they simply don't feel safe when they go to the gym. Would you want your sister, or girlfriend, feeling like people are violating them? Personally it makes me uncom…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
