Who assumed they were entitled to your time for free? The person in those messages didn't. They asked you for clarification. Maybe ignore DMs if it bothers you so much? We're all humans and it shouldn't be such a bad thing to be able to converse with one another without expecting payment for such. They're being respectful to both your time and theirs. Tell them your time isn't free and move on. No reason to take it any further including attacking them like this.
