From personal experience: If you are in a dorm, knock on every single door on the first day and introduce yourself. If living off-campus, go to the largest dorm on the first day and introduce yourself. During the first two to four weeks, you can just walk up to anyone and introduce yourself. Also, incidentally, telling girls what they want (round-about descriptions of myself) and how I'm going to pick them up while doing exactly that is my favorite way to get women. It's so fun to see them fall for something so obvious. Note: As far as I can tell, this works much better on emotional women who will be thrown off balance from it.

Thanks for the tip! And yes, I rely heavily on playfulness and humor. Given that my sense of humor is one of my strongest traits, I find myself pretty much unable to pick up women who I can't make crack up. I'll try out the gentleman route next time.
