You do realize that not all feminists are western, right?

No, extremists are only respected by other extremists. I, along with every other feminist I know, disagree with them and believe that they're ignorant bigots. You get bigots in every group or movement regardless of what it is.

Actually custody is generally equally available to both sexes. Mothers get custody more often because fathers often don't try to fight for custody. Its uncommon for a father to be straight up denied custody unless he has a history of substance abuse or something serious like that.

I feel like you guys just take what a few extremists said and generalize the entirety of feminism. I don't blame you for doing this because in the end, we're both ignorant to each others views. I guess we just can't understand each other. Thanks for trying to help me get it though!~

Feminism isn't obsolete because women aren't thought of as equals by a lot of people. "Feminist: a person who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes." ~ Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nigerian Women's Rights Activist In the western world, it's mainly the "social" part that is being pushed. Gender roles push women (and men, its about equality, not just women) into a box where they are expected to perform certain tasks because they were born female. Also, outside of the w…

I'm not sure why you're trying to quiz me, but feminist leaders brought: -Equal wages for both sexes -The right for women to own a property, earn equal wages, and to be educated -Even simple social equality (women aren't looked down upon, most of the time) Point is, there some countries (like Saudi Arabia, for example) where women are denied a lot of rights and they're essentially forced to be second-class citizens. Without feminism, the western world could've been the same.

Okay so I'm only responding to you because you actually put thought into what you said instead of just spewing bullshit. I think I kinda get this anti-feminist thing but I can't bring myself to agree with it. Thanks for the explanation tho Edit: Also, I don't really mind the downvotes because I know the only reason I'm being downvoted is because I'm questioning people's thoughts and beliefs.

Okay, see this is the part that confuses me though. Feminism isn't about "us vs. them" so I don't understand how "equality" turned into "oppression". And also I don't agree with gender roles, both sexes are equally able to complete any task. (By the way I really am not trying to start an argument here, just a discussion. I just want to understand both sides here.)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
