I'm perpetually baffled by this subreddit. Could someone explain to me why I never see any of the things constantly talked about here?I don't think alpha and beta only applies to males. I don't think that guys are 100% alpha and 100% beta. The guys I'm referring to as beta just tend to reject lots of what is considered the "alpha male". I don't hate beta guys. I don't even really have more alpha-oriented friends. I think most people are combinations of traits of both. That is to say, a guy who could be super shy and never once talk in class could be really confident and act alpha in other areas (this is something you see a lot… | /r/MensRights | 22/12/12 02:25 AM
Imagine how society would react if it said boy. It's not a baseless belief though. You're just saying it is because you're ignoring what I'm saying. All I'm trying to say is that groups that aren't in power are socially acceptable to have "empowering" movements. Not just with gender, but with race, religion, and other values. You can tell me that's "baseless" but the truth is, the evidence is all around you. It's only baseless if you're willingly blinding yourself. | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 05:31 PM
Imagine how society would react if it said boy.I'm not saying that every group of people not in power has an incredibly large movement pushing for them to be in power. I'm just saying it's considered acceptable in our society. Women are a bigger group in our culture and country than jews, and therefore the movement is bigger. Listen, you can believe that men are just hated because of their penis and believe that if the roles of power were reversed, there'd still be "girl power" (despite, again, no "man power" or "white power" being okay, the… | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 05:24 PM
Imagine how society would react if it said boy.Feminism is more in power, that's very true -- I'm not trying to deny that. Sorry if I gave that impression. But the reason Feminism has more power is because men have more power in our system. | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 03:29 PM
Imagine how society would react if it said boy.Doubt it as much as you like, it won't change the fact that it's not about you having a penis, it's about who is in power. As long as men are ridiculously in power, it's going to be acceptable to have "girl power". It's not a sex thing, it can be applied to race or religion. It's not an issue of being a man it's an issue of who is in power. | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 06:47 AM
| -1 | Imagine how society would react if it said boy. You're kidding right? Women don't even get to decide what happens to their own bodies -- old white men in congress do. How are they not the underdog? /edit Also: look at how many women are CEOs. Look at how many women presidents we've had, how many women are in congress, how many women hold higher level jobs. They're the underdog in terms of power quite obviously because the places of power are disproportionately filled with men. I don't understand how a society run almost entirely by men couldn… | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 06:44 AM |
Imagine how society would react if it said boy.It would react badly. Just like it's okay with "black power" but against "white power" It's not because of a penis between your leg. If our country were mostly run by women, it wouldn't be okay to say girl power and it'd be fine to say boy power. This is the kind of shit that just gets to me. This isn't something about MEN this is about how society feels better rooting for an under dog. | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 05:38 AM
I'm perpetually baffled by this subreddit. Could someone explain to me why I never see any of the things constantly talked about here?Wow. That was an overreaction. I don't think every guy needs to be "the alpha male". But these basement dwelling guys who write misogynic statements saying women are all manipulative and heartless etc are just shitting themselves -- it's not that women are evil, it's that a lot of them desire some similar traits. Guys do that too. I'm pretty ridiculously beta myself. I'm shorter than the average guy, I've spent my life playing guitar instead of playing sports, and I'm a pretty typical "nice guy"… | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 05:20 AM
| -3 | I'm perpetually baffled by this subreddit. Could someone explain to me why I never see any of the things constantly talked about here?I think truthfully the problem isn't as bad in America as these guys make it out to be. I pay on my dates but I pay for most my friends because I make a lot. I've had girls who earn significantly less than me pay for things plenty of times, and although I might end up spending more on them, they probably spend more in terms of percentage what they earn on me. But you'll hear everyone say "omg every girl wants you to pay for everything" No one I've dated has expected expensive gifts from me, exce… | /r/MensRights | 21/12/12 01:30 AM |
Found this on facebook, most comments saying how cute this was. Wonder if they would still think it was cute had the genders been reversed. These kinds of posts are why people don't take this subreddit seriously. I think Men's Rights are very important, but this isn't Men's Rights. | /r/MensRights | 20/12/12 05:58 AM
