Even the most independent people get lonely sometimes, and wish they had someone in the moment to share their space and time with. Let those feelings wash over you while you keep yourself busy with activities that build your own character. While doing those activities you're going to bump into romantic partners who come and go, and fill that space for a while. But you shouldn't need those partners, and you should be able to live fine with that space unfilled. This is just life.

Most women are actually pretty boring Can't believe the sub is actually upvoting this shit. If you sit down with a random person for 3 hours you're often going to find that you don't hit it off, man or woman. Since most guys ask women out on account of their looks rather than whether they're actually compatible, this causes a lot of first dates to go like that. There's also generally a difference in interests and methods of communication between men and women, which contributes to the above. It …

I wonder if he actually planned to say that, or it just slipped out and he went deeper into it because of the room full of strange men giving him validation by laughing at everything he says. Either way he's a creep.

When there's no alcohol involved, usually not much beyond making out on the first date. To be honest I find it difficult to progress past kissing on date #1 when there's no alcohol, but that's definitely an issue I need to work on personally rather than a general rule. Anyway I'm going on a date with a tee-total girl on Friday so can report back on how that goes haha.

I still kind of like the bar thing even when she doesn't drink. I've had a couple -- I take her to a specific bar on the side of a nice park, where I can get a beer and she can grab a kombucha or whatever. Then we walk a bit through the park as the sun is starting to set, and if it's going well I'll grab her hand or put my arm around her as we walk. It doesn't matter too much where you guys go, since I'm sure you're a fun enough guy to show her a good time anywhere.

To be honest, yes it usually matters to an extent. And often it's a dealbreaker if you're very short or shorter than her. But if you compensate in other areas and don't show any insecurities, there are definitely lots of women who will look past it. Other women won't, but that's fine -- everyone has their preferences. Also being really tall doesn't make you automatically a chick magnet. I'm pretty average height (5'10") and sometimes go out with my 6'4" friend, and I usually end up more successf…

Well he was bothered enough to post it here and frame it as an issue, so I'd say OP isn't completely content.

You'll be okay man, focus on healing and building yourself just now. The girls will still be around when you're feeling better.

You just did something that most guys are too afraid to do. Are most guys really afraid to ask for a girl's number after they've been chatting for a while? I definitely have issues with some parts of early dating, but I never get nerves asking for the number. I guess I see it the same way as asking to keep in touch with anyone I have a connection with really, including guys.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
