Would you be able to PM me any further information you have on this section? Your in the West Midlands? That will also be a big issue given how Women's Aid in the area (Particularly Sandwell) have built quite a massive and high value empire - and been willing to trample even the people in the refuges to achieve this. This is one of the reasons we wouldn't be willing to accept under 16's (after discussions with someone I know who runs a supported housing organisation this me be brought up to 18).

Hopefully by hiring support workers we could both help men flee from domestic violence but help them rebuild there lives away from their abusers, including finding a new job if needed. I would also look into offering our services to men from around the country who want to move away from their abuser altogether.

In the UK they are mainly funded by councils, the government and donations. Maybe I should start off with something simpler however the end game will still be to open a male shelter. From rough calculations it would work out around £100,000 a year to operate a 8 bedroom house with 2 support workers 40 hours a week. My local council pays around £600 a week per bed for a refuge meaning we could run the house with an average of 4 beds filled at a time however it is unlikely to be this empty conside…

There are already a large number of beds available for females fleeing domestic violence so there isn't as much need as for males beds. It mainly comes down to a need for male beds more than anything else, what sense would it make to increase the amount of beds for females when males have nowhere to go?

Main reason being is that under 16's in the UK would be referred to either a care home or foster parents rather than a domestic violence shelter, in fact most 16-24 year olds fleeing home would be placed into supported living (think a shared house with a support worker) to help them learn how to live on their own and then into their own flat when it became appropriate.

Thank you for your advice, I will try and start partnerships with organisations however I will only be looking to get involved with organisations that acknowledge male victims and don't say things like most abusers are male etc.

While I understand where you're coming from with allowing women who can't stay at a womens shelter because of having male children over a certain age please understand that this will not be happening, at least not initially. While it would be a long term goal to open up houses specifically for families fleeing domestic abuse, the initial plan will be for over 16 males due to the scarcity of places available.
