You know after 7 years of inactivity on a debt, they can no longer pursue repayment. Even a chapter 7 Bankruptcy is better for your credit than years on top of years of personal debt. I think you should talk to a lawyer instead of a financial adviser. In fact, if they still report a debt with over 7 years of inactivity to the credit agencies, you can send them a cease and desist and then sue them. I'd really consult an attorney.
