you cant start making exceptions, either. or the Rule of Law falls apart.

its a check on the power of criminal prosecutors. the statute of limitations exists because for certain crimes you cant convict beyond a reasonable doubt after a lot of time has passed. its about due process.

i think the point is vigilante justice shouldnt be encouraged. It shouldnt always be punished, I think this case shows that, but rule of law is important to a functioning society. Not to say i would have done any different, but thats probably what he meant when he said "going too far."

tribal courts don't have the power to hand down capital punishment in pakistan. They don't have any real legal power at all, they aren't considered a real court. they just settle local disputes. There are no (legally sanctioned, i should say) executions of rape victims in Pakistan.

can you draw parallels? yes of course. But that doesn't change the fact that it's not a cult, which is literally the only point I'm trying to make.

what? are you trying to have a discussion or are you just trying to be a dick?

think for yourself another great example of this sub's patented histrionics. how am i not thinking for myself? because we disagree? A lot of things in that list don't strictly apply to feminism but I'm not going to itemize a list for you. Commenter above asked me if he was wrong in saying feminism is a cult, which it isn't. Is it cult-like these days? sure, you could argue that. Sinister? in many cases. Misguided and ignorant? definitely. but not a cult.

the dude described feminism as a cult and then asked me if he was wrong. I told him yes, he is wrong in saying feminism is a cult. had he said "like a cult" my answer would be different.

do you need me to copy-paste the definition of religion too?
/r/MensRights26/02/16 10:51 PM
6

strictly speaking? yes. you are. Cult (noun): a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. "the cult of St. Olaf" a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister. feminism does not have a central figure, and while you could argue that third wave is sinister, it doesn't have religious beliefs or practices to consider as such.

if you have money you can sway politics in our corrupt system, yes. But what you're suggesting is there be a minimum requirement of wealth in order to have a say at all. That's asinine.

I can't imagine a draft in modern times. The reaction would be bedlam.

Yeah and while we're at it, you have to be earning a certain amount a year to vote (I mean, why should people who don't pay taxes get to vote??) oh and the more you earn, the heavier your vote weighs! Your opinion should matter more when you're contributing more to the country, right? This is a totally agreeable and not catastrophically idiotic idea at all!

Oh, I see. Which also explains why it's so ubiquitous in America despite religious preference. Man I am so tired of this country's ancient puritanical bullshit inhibiting progress..

woah woah do you have a source on that last one? I understand that's the purpose behind FGM but I always thought it was just another thing the Israelites did to separate themselves from surrounding nations. Most of the rules laid out in Leviticus exist to do just that, to define customs/rules/traditions that distinguish Israel from other nations of the time. So they can say, "We're children of God, not like these savages; This is evidenced by our cut-up dicks and unleavened bread."

The above commenter was implying that he did nothing to defend himself because he's a white knight. I was pointing out that he pushed her down in defense. I wasn't chastising his action.

The problem here is semantics I think. OP was just pointing out a technicality. Unless Deen is convicted, it is an alleged rape. The problem is correcting that technicality is viewed as challenging the claim.

I think you can make all of these points without the biting sarcasm and strawmen. I know we're all salty in this sub, and this is a good place to vent frustration, but threading attacks like that into your arguments invalidate them and make us all look like rage-babies.

This is why I hate pictures like this. Vast over-generalization and misleading descriptions. I could write a verbose paragraph about old girl on the right and make her look good too. These posts contribute nothing but making us look like misogynist ass-wipes.
