degree from MIT in engineering didn't get me anything because 3.4/4 GPA competing at the same career fair as the MIT kids with perfect GPAs. Don't count on your degree. And don't come to grad school, that's what I did and it was a shitty idea. Apply to a ton of jobs somewhat related to your degree so you can strengthen your resume. If there are no related jobs (doubt it), look into the business world, finance, etc. which take people with technical degrees for nontechnical work. Don't waste time …

yeap, that's the best way to handle it. I just say I'm not feeling up to it and move on.

When I got serious about working out I quit drinking so as not to kill my recovery. Then I realized I didn't want to spend Fridays like other people do which is basically to go out, eat, and drink a lot of alcohol. Seems like a waste, all they do is get fat and talk about the same things every Friday.

I don't think it's as unsustainable as people make it out to be. It also takes a lot more than steroids to become a freak beast, like many many years of steroid use. Even so, it makes no sense for most of us to do steroids.

Thanks for the subreddit, I've thought about this kind of thing for a long time but never started it. Hopefully it takes off.

Yeap engineering PhD candidate here. I look good, work hard, work out hard, most days when I get home it's time to eat, take a bath, and pass out. I find it impossible to find some time for going out. Even when I do go out I'm tired and don't feel like putting effort into picking someone up. Program has few girls and all unattractive. I'm not trying to be a dick but there is nothing (even though my standards are pretty low now..)

Insanity (5 lbs to goal weight) Working on a PhD in engineering Moving to a bigger place and buying a car Learning electric guitar Caring less about specific women. Cut ties with the ones I had oneitis over months ago. Women in general have never been nicer to me after my change in attitude.

if you're talking about relationship, yes. It doesn't have to get in the way but most of the time, it does (I'm an engineering student). Hooking up doesn't have to if you schedule well.

Don't, that's not your responsibility and avoiding the friend zone here is almost impossible. I'd say take her out somewhere fun and try to hook up with her. Might achieve what you were looking to achieve anyway.

I don't know how'd they'd interfere. Either way, they don't have to be your ONLY friends. You can go out and have a totally different social circle. If they are good friends, keep them. Having good friends helps a lot in general.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
