So your point is, feminist values and reasoning leads to believing that rape can happen to men? Good job, you sure showed feminists how they think men can be raped.

Without welfare, affirmative action, and alimony women, on average, will never be able to compete economically against men. Bro, you might want to tone down that misogyny. It's really bad.

This is a very nice demonstration of the falsity of the idea that women are desperately trying to avoid having any social responsibility. This circle doesn't break down responses by gender, but assuming that roughly half the respondents were women, in the most extreme breakdown of the votes, a full third of women think women should have to register for the draft. More likely, the proportion is higher, as that assumes every vote of "no" was by a woman.

Wow. That must be embarrassing to admit. You are an intellectually bankrupt person who is incapable of realizing that people disagree with you for intellectually honest reasons. I entered this conversation because I thought that you were unintentionally misinformed about some aspect of feminism (by the way, judging from your comments, you are misinformed about feminism). Instead I discover you are a stupid, petty, willfully ignorant person.

It's not that you cannot feel outrage without some deeper understanding. It's that your outrage seems really self-serving due to your lack of caring to understand. If you were truly disgusted about this situation, you would actually want to do something about it, which requires understanding why it happened. As is, it comes off that the reason for outrage is closer to wanting to have something to post on the internet to prove women are evil rather than wanting to end exploitation of men.

It reads like you think that men can only be feminists if they are pathetic and self-hating. That is, you think that men cannot be feminists because they have honestly considered the issue and decided that feminism best represents how they think the world works and what we ought do in response. It seems you think men cannot come to rational conclusions about issues that do not center around themselves. That is a pretty anti-male position to hold. Maybe you should change your name to girlwritesmi…

If you are even slightly interested in making the lives of men and boys better, you have to ask why these things are happening. If you don't, then you just let it continue unchanged. You're inability to ask these kinds of questions suggests you don't really care about stopping the sexual assault of boys. You don't care why he was attacked, and thus don't care about stopping it. That is why I think you made this up, because if it had really happened, you'd be interested in why it happened and how…

Stop making this about you... The story is already second hand, and because there are no details provided, it just sounds made up (and because of the sexual overtones, like a dumb sexual fantasy). Maybe it isn't your fantasy, but it still sound like a femdom fantasy. I am a feminist, I don't think there is anything shameful about sex (and this isn't my fantasy). Furthermore, sex shaming is not a common feminist "tact"... whatever that means. What I suggest is that this story is just that, and an…

I guess my hesitation to believe this story comes from the fact that it casts these women as being deliberately malicious without giving any context for why they acted that way. Like, I guess I find myself at a loss when I read anecdotes like this, because simply stating The tutor had gone to lunch and came back to the lecture room to find a gang of hysterical giggling girls who had surrounded the guy and stripes him to his boxers and where in the process of attempting to remove them. provides n…

So you're unaware that many suffragettes worked with recruitment campaigns for WWI, that Obama and Biden expect male bystanders to step in between abusive men and women who are being abused, that feminist organizations oppose shared parenting in part because it would reduce the monetary obligations of non-custodial fathers, etc? That is fine. I imagine that many non-feminists didn't work with WWI recruitment campaigns. I think there is a big difference between operating within institutions of sy…

Most feminist don't conflate the class and gender. In fact, the vast majority of sociological work depends on conceptualizing them as different things. Modern feminists use intersection approaches to recognize how masculinity (gender) confers privilege. Intersectional approaches reject claims of "master" identities, and thus are able to analyze systematic forms of oppression, while capturing the nuances of other dimensions of inequality (class).

Feminism's paradigm of gender as historical, class-based oppression--essentially a Marxist paradigm where women are the proletariate and men the bourgeoisie, women the oppressed and men the privileged oppressors, is a kindergartener's model of society. This is just bad representation of social theory, and is not how many feminists, Marxists, and Marxist-feminists conceptualize inequality. In fact, a large amount of modern feminist theories use intersectional approaches to the study of inequality…

This story comes off as really hard to believe. Are you saying that a group of young women just began stripping a boy of his cloths... spontaneously? Like, I would agree that such a situation would constitute sexual assault. But I just can't imagine something like this happening without some kind of context that explains why the women did what they did. Honestly, something had to motivate these women to assault that boy, some kind of deeper context. Otherwise, this reads like some odd sexual fan…

So, MRAs are "antibodies" decorating invading feminist "pathogens," so as to allow "phagocytic" Marxist feminists to remove the infection? Ah... I think your comment was nonsense, and you don't know anything about immunology. Go use some other terrible analogy for your feminism bashing.

I don't understand why helping the feminist movement is propaganda? You don't explain why that is. It's like saying that evolutionary science isn't real science because it helps support evolution.

I don't think that distinction is clear. The idea that feminist methodologies can't be scientific is silly; there is no reason a priori to assume that.

I kinda find this funny, that the idea of feminist science is seemingly a contradictory to MR folks. I mean, the main problem with this article isn't the supposition that feminist science is a thing, it just happens to be an underdeveloped wikipedia page. I think the use of the phrase ``normal scientific reasoning''---which people here seem to be jumping all over---is just bad editing/writing. But all that aside, pursuing feminist questions though scientific methodologies is a real thing, and it…

So you're telling me that bell hooks was a "goofy 60s radical" when she was in her teens? You don't know what you are talking about, she is still an important and contemporary black feminist scholar, writer and activist. Like, who the fuck are you to dismiss her? What part about there being feminists of color do you not understand? In fact, I would argue some of the most powerful work being done in feminism today comes from Middle Eastern feminists and feminists of color in the west. That is fin…

Judith Butler (well-known philosopher and feminist) has written about ethics. I think moral philosophy counts as "an understanding of ethics or morals".

Because they see all black men especially as rape machines. I think it's important to understand that feminists (of color) were some of the first people to point out how the hypermasculine construction of black men is used to control both black folks and white women. I don't think that you can call feminists "the most racist, anti-black male group there is" when the group contains people like bell hooks and organizations like the Combahee River Collective.

This article is over twenty years old, so it may not really be applicable anymore in terms of understanding how and why women communicate consent. Also, I think the use of the term `manipulative' was a poor decision on the part of the authors. The category includes a number of different reasons (like anger at partner), which complicates the issue. It seems to me reasonable that you can want to have sex, but also be angry enough to not consent to sex. I think this just shows that consent is a com…

That was not tear gas. That was "Jesus semen." The police, however, used tear gas when a Catholic group started attacking the Femen protestors. http://rt.com/news/femen-clash-france-gay-marriage-068/ I don't know where you got monoammonium phosphate as the stuff they were spraying; googling "monoammonium phosphate Femen" turned up nothing. Couldn't these women be protesting for gay rights because they themselves are not straight? Aren't gay rights more than just rights for gay men? How is it "appropriation" for lesbians and bisexual women to protest their own oppression?
