What does my paying someone to take 5 months off have to do with people being born? You don't NEED to take X amount of time off to have children. My parents didn't take any type of leave with any of their children. And I was raised pretty darn well. Why should I pay YOU to take time off to take care of YOUR kids? You should pay for that. We've had generations before us that didn't need "maternity leave," and the population didn't plummet into oblivion. Maternity leave is not a right, it's a priv…

I was referring to this: In this society, one should avoid any sex with a female... Which was further clarified with: "especially if she has been drinking."

I'm not saying not to be careful or that you can trust everyone. But there's a difference between being careful and being irrationally paranoid. If I was raped, I know that my face, my family's name would be disgraced. I would be labelled a whore, or saying that I asked for it, whatever. Along with all of the psychological trauma, potential for disease, dealing with possible abortions, etc. Nothing good happens when you get raped or when you're falsely accused of rape. We're not trying to discus…

A men's center for people who are dealing with being falsely accused of rape? I don't foresee that happening in my lifetime, to be honest, and that is just so sad. Thankfully, I think more stories about false accusations are coming to light (even though they're getting torn to shreds for "victim blaming") I can't really think of many resources at all for someone who's been accused falsely. That's pathetic. Being aware of your surroundings and what you're doing is definitely a key component to no…

Thank you for your reply. I don't think rape or false rape accusations are good, and I personally don't think I could try to weigh "who has it worse" in either case. But I appreciate you trying to explain it to me.

Assuming every female you come across will try to falsely charge you of rape is just as irrational as assuming every man I meet is going to rape me. There's not a law that says every man that is charged with rape should be found guilty of rape. The law doesn't state to favor a woman's claims over the man's claims. Society favors women in these cases. So I don't see how this fear is "the law."

Instead of asking for longer maternity leaves, maybe Western populations should adopt children from India, Africa, or China? I would pay for that more readily than I would to maternity leave, to be honest.

Ha. Thanks kuonji. (one of the very many things I appreciate about this subreddit is that actual thoughtful discussion is appreciated)

I'm on Earth. Are there a shortage of people on Earth? Yes they are, because those children are who are going to keep society running as you get old. How does that correlate with maternity leave? Getting a 5 month break from work doesn't insure stability of a child/person in the long run.

Why should me not wanting to pay for someone else's leave be a reason for me to excommunicate myself? I'm a working citizen. I give to society by existing, getting paid, buying goods, volunteer service, etc. But I don't want to pay for someone else to get bonus leave for making a choice to have children. We're in no shortage of people. I don't need to have children. If I chose not to bring someone into this world, then why should I pay for letting someone else do it? They're not doing me a servi…

Well personally, I don't think I should have to pay Social Security either (nor gain the benefits from it). You should support leave for others so that they have children that they raise healthy and intelligent and well-mannered, so that their children will support you when you're old. You can't assure me this at all. Mothers that stay at home for 5 months for maternity leave cannot possibly assure this to be true either. I personally think that things like leave (whether maternity, paternity, h…

Wouldn't it be better if a person paid into their own leave? I don't plan on having children ever so I wouldn't need maternity leave. Shouldn't I be able to opt out of paying for that?

Can you explain something to me, please? I read stuff like what you said, and it reminds of how people around me tell me as a girl I shouldn't walk around at night by myself, talk to strange men, etc because men will hurt me. From this subreddit, so many people talk about how feminism places an irrational fear of men towards women and society. How is saying something like this different? Are you not creating an irrational fear of being faslely accused by every woman? (I hope you know I'm sincere…

I feel like this is targeted towards conservative politicians that are trying to stifle a woman's right to choose....... But........it doesn't say that outright, so this is message is bad.......(and they should all feel bad)

Whenever things like "and Gender" are added to stuff like this, I can't help but think their main objective was towards LGBT communities, with men being added but not their initial intent. Women Center...."But we have to help the transgenders!" Women and Gender Center......"I guess men are included also....." Not saying that there is anything wrong with trying to assist the LGBT community, but men are just considered an afterthought (mostly inclusion by definition).

I can relate to that pretty well. When I started reading some things on MensRights, they seemed so ludicrous and hateful, and I couldn't understand why every comment was seen as an attack. But then I realized when you get fucked for so long, you become a little "hard" to opposition. I won't through 2XC under the bridge, I still consider it a great subreddit, but you really have to be picky with the posts you take seriously. I sometimes parody what 2XC is usually, lots of bf-hating post, lots of …

Well, he does say it's in MRA. I've seen this stuff in 2XC before. They just don't want stuff posted in another subreddit that would cause "drama," which is this case. It may not have the link, but he posted it again without the X-post, it wouldn't be deleted.

Oh I see what you're referring to now. Yeah it is 90%, I was only looking at those with custody (which is 82%), not those just receiving child support as well (which is 89.5%).

In the internet world, they're practicaly indistinguishable. I hope you understand I only corrected you in hopes that one day you will not be seen in a bad light for writing the wrong one, and you're a given a million dollar raise, living happily ever after!

Yeap, I read your post on that. And I still can't be provided with proof that Guardasil isn't given to boys. So I'm going to stick with the idea that that is an equal right to men and women. The vasectomy/hysterectomy issue is still up in the air I think. I can't find definitive answers to those.

Yeah, clearly women do get more custodial rights over the children, but it's not near 90%. I just think that the title of this post is a little bit sensationalized. It completely forgets the fathers that have custody, and the mothers that pay child support. The numbers are not so different that we can forget about the 1,555 women who didn't receive any payments, or the $300 less that fathers get.

As another female who also browses both mensrights and 2XC, I know how you feel. But the thing you have to remember is that every post in any subreddit shouldn't define what that subreddit stands for. There's crap posted on every subreddit. I end up having to pick and choose what I decide is worth the time to read/comment/take seriously. Both MensRights and 2XC (and any other subreddit) will have fanaticals, trolls, and intelligent posters that want to stir up a discussion. But anyway, high five

Hm, I did a quick (and crude) google search and found this for 2010: •54.9% of custodial single mothers were awarded child support in 2010. •30.4% of custodial single fathers were awarded child support during the same year. I mean there's a clear difference, but it's not 90%. I found this also, which was interesting. It says 82% of custodial parents were mothers, but the average paid in for child support was almost the same for mothers and fathers

*I just realized I mispoke. What I meant was I didn't see anywehre that said HPV vaccinations were for women only. Can you link me to somewhere that says it's not covered for men? Most men don't get HPV vaccinations because it's an asymptomatic disease for men. They can only be carriers. And most strains of HPV can be dealt with and "disappear" after a year or two. But many men don't know that they are and should get HPV vaccinations especially if they're afraid of being a carrier to their gf or…

Thank you. I am ignorant of what's really in the bill; that's why I asked. I didn't see anywhere that said HPV vaccinations were for men only. It's under the section for "adults." And the post you linked to shows that to be true under the top comment there. "Free cancer prevention for girls, but no cancer prevention for boys (Guardasil, etc) Blatant lie. The vaccine is now (though only recently) being recommended for boys as well, so it will also have to be covered." But I couldn't find anything…

Where does it say that child support enforcement is just for mothers? The only thing I saw that mentioned mothers/fathers was this: Child Support and Fatherhood Initiative The CSE program plays an important role in facilitating family self-sufficiency and promoting responsible fatherhood. Building on this role, the FY 2012 budget includes a new Child Support and Fatherhood Initiative to encourage non-custodial parents to work, support their children, and play an active role in their children’s l…

2.Equanimity: No drama-inducing crossposting of content found in other subreddits. Likewise, posts found to direct odious influxes here may be removed. As someone who lurks on both 2XC and MRA, I think the reason it was deleted was not because they don't want to have the discussion, but because the rules clearly say no crossposting. I've seen posts deleted from things like r/knitting, etc. It's not an agenda. Please don't lump everyone that is a woman with being a crazy feminist that is unwillin…

Instead of a dumb meme, can someone link to actual facts about this? From what I know, men do get most of the same care that women do, aside from some obvious things due to biology.
