I used to do bjj/mma with a dude I didn’t know was gay. Nobody did cause frankly we had more important stuff to do than talk about who we were attracted to. Found out like four years in to knowing this guy and it didn’t change shit. Still grappled with the dude for several years after.

From army.mail website as pertaining to benefits- BAH With Dependents and BAH Without Dependents A service member with a permanent duty within the 50 United States, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible BAH, based on the service member's dependency status at the permanent duty ZIP Code. A service member stationed overseas, including U.S. protectorates, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible for Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) based on the service member's dependency…

People move off base and collect both if there’s no room in the barracks or if they’re promoted where they can no longer stay in communal housing without risk of fraternization.

….okay unless something has changed in the last few years. As a single soldier your BAH is deducted and applied towards your barracks room. Your BAS is deducted and applied towards your meal card. If you choose to not stay at the barracks/not eat at the DFAC- you’re still out that money. Either way that money is not yours. Edit- Yes you theoretically can get both as a single soldier below the rank of E-6. That falls under the purview of either your unit commander or the first O-6 (as I understan…

No agreed. But to get either of those you have to be married. Or, I think, a single parent. Or the super unlikely approval from your commander/ first O-6.

“”50k a year”” lol. Friend my first paycheck was like $680 every two weeks. I just double check the pay charts. You’re not making over 50k a year until you’ve hit E-6 with something like 8 years in grade.

I did it with my buds once upon a time. “Look. She’s crazy, if you date her it will turn sideways. I’ve told you I don’t condone it, if our friendship has any value don’t do it”

Let me rephrase... I understand what’s going on. I’ve done a fair bit of research on it. It baffles and irritates me. End.

I’m not saying there is an issue. I’m saying I don’t understand why they’re having such an issue with it.

It seems to me that the issue they have with it is that it’s solely about men.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
