Pedophilia isn't a legal term, it's a psychological diagnosis. Being a pedophile isn't against the law, but rape of a child is. What's bizarre to me is that Oklahoma has a marital exemption for this. If the teacher was married to the student, EVEN if the student was under 15, there'd be no law being broken. So if you're married, it's a-okay. Weird.
Umm no. We're going to disagree here. That's OK. But using the proper terminology actually helps to protect children as one word is a psychological diagnosis and the other is a moral issue. If we call everyone who is sexually attracted to someone younger than 18 a pedophile, we are diminishing the impact of the word. It should be reserved for extremely immoral cases.
