Everything you wrote about your husband, I can relate to, were I in his situation. I'd much rather have no sex than passion-less sex. Firstly, believe him. If he's agreeing to the infertility treatment, it means he's very committed to you, and he likely accepted the current situation as a possibility. Both of you are going to have a rough time with the pregnancy. This is temporary, he'll survive this, the relationship should survive this, and it isn't your fault.

I have a theory about that. Since sex is much riskier for women than it is for men, most women are a little more guarded than most men. Humor, however, alleviates some of that tension. Since women need that tension-release more than men, women have a strong tendency to find humor more attractive than men do. Just a theory.

Vulnerable is a better term, along with open and honest.

I believe I'm in step with the others here. I've suffered from depression for the last decade, and it's rough. First, I suggest you confirm that he recognizes that he is depressed - I didn't know I was until I had enough distance to look back on it, despite how obvious it was. From there, it'll be his own struggle. If you can arrange it, I would suggest professional help, and bear in mind, therapists are all different - if one doesn't seem to be working, try another.

True. Liberal ideology essentially promotes freedom of choice for the individual - if one uses that freedom to become a RPW, that is their choice.

The inequality thing is a point I think of regularly. I don't think any two people on Earth are "equals," so it's hard to say that the sexes would be. I think men and women are equal in the same regard that forks and spoons are equal.

So much of modern American culture today can be traced back to the baby boom, where advertisers realized that they could make a killing by glorifying youth and impulsiveness. Those crazy people who said rock and roll would destroy the country? They weren't exactly wrong. We have definitely entered an era of prolonged adolescence. Couple the relative ease of coasting through life with the anger that many parents of millennials have at the strictness of their own parents, and we have a generation …

Young male; just found this sub. Didn't know there was a community like this on Reddit - saw the title and got confused, read the sidebar, skimmed around and felt immediately attracted to the content. I study evolutionary psychology, and I love the idea of being able to discuss some of the applications in an arena where people won't immediately reject biological truths.

I think women tend to be more interested in relationships because, in evolutionary terms, women have been more reliant on groups for survival than men have. In primitive times, a solitary woman would not generally last as long as a solitary man - many women seem to have a drive to ensure that their social bonds are intact, because their lives could depend on it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
