Sounds good except where someone already does that but has trouble getting past a casual relationship with most people by doing what they normally do even if they are only trying to interact with people on a personal level. I'm not saying doing that makes me feel entitled for people to want to get to know me or anything. It's more like I'm riding a bike and want advice on going faster since I'm always going slowly. But instead of telling me about multi-speed bicycles and how to shift gears, you …

I think there's somewhat of an issue with telling people not to listen to internet strangers and not to think about when do to this and that. I treat women like normal people not thinking about getting in their pants and most of the time that's where it ends. If you have trouble connecting to other people (including women) in a way that goes past casual friendship, then it's helpful to know what to try to potentially get over the hurdle so that you can be attractive to everyone. Telling someone …

Because you're qualifying a double standard. It's sexual assault if a guy makes a girl touch his penis without her permission regardless of whether or not she showed prior aversion. But it's not sexual assault if a girl makes a guy touch her breast UNLESS he's shown prior aversion to it. This is pretty much exactly what you said based on how you answered the questions. How is this hard to grasp?

Your type of language and understanding of the subject is the exact problem with the discussion. Not only do you take what he said out of context you also took what I said out of context. You're fucking ignorant and instead of trying to understand what someone is saying you make assumptions and call them rapists. That's so fucking laughable. You're skimming contents and cherry picking a quote to shit all over without considering any context. The point is to not be shy and calibrate the context. …

You're saying that if a guy takes a girls hand and puts it on his penis without asking her permission, that's sexual assault. But now if a girl does the same thing to a guy to her breast, he has to express prior aversion to that for it to be sexual assault? How does this make sense?
/r/seduction21/06/13 11:16 PM
3

Except the context of the penis part is when you are already on your way to have sex, as in the consent part is already done. You've already asked her if she wants to head to your place AND asked if she wants to take it to the bedroom. He's talking about taking initiative when engaging in sex. He's not talking about forcing a woman to touch your penis randomly. If a woman took a guy's hand and put it on her breast, is that sexual assault on the woman's part?
/r/seduction21/06/13 11:05 PM

So then you're advocating that it's okay for women to sexually assault men without permission then?

They were absurdly taken out of context. They took a quote about being dominant and picking her up physically without asking for permission (which sounds wrong in itself) that was meant in the context of a club situation where you already know she's interested and have been flirting back and forth for a while and then put that quote next to another quote about taking your dick out and putting her hand on it, which itself was in the context of already in the middle of foreplay where both sides al…

What was disgusting about it? Can you find me a quote that is explicitly disgusting without taking the quote out of context? There are many things that seem offensive if you aren't aware of the context the content is meant to be seen in.

This needs to be in every beginners guide. Confidence is really one of the fundamentals you need to start attracting people (not just women for sex but also people in general for friends and jobs). Fake it til you make it isn't really good advice to someone that has no idea how to "act with confidence".

You're missing the point and arguing against the wrong part. Obviously you don't need to have your shit together to attract women. You also don't need to be super fit to do it. The point is it helps by adding to your value as a human and having your shit together and being fit adds to your confidence, which makes you more attractive.

What I've learned over the years following the community is you can't really get rid of oneitis and still act like something can happen later on. You either let it go entirely or you're stuck in it for a long while til it fades away naturally from lack of contact. But don't keep it in the back of your mind that something might happen.

One of the related articles on the wiki article is Tavern. Seems like the closest equivalent. Both are relaxing places to go after work. Neither are great for first date kinda meet ups. I'd say the wiki article describes them pretty well. I know you aren't saying they are chain restaurants/bars but those in my mind have a specific connotation that is hard to remove. It could just be a neighborhood bar that people just go to with their coworkers. The reason I have an aversion to comparing it to a…

I don't know if it has that same connotation as chain bars. Izakayas are generally seen as a place people go after work to relax with coworkers. It's very laid back. Traditionally, you sit on the tatami mat floor with low and long tables and just get drunk with friends or coworkers. I guess it's possible that people may equate it to going to TGIFridays with coworkers but it's hard for me to say it's the same connotation in their society. Drinking itself has a different connotation in Japan. Ever…

It's not really a chain. Izakaya is a type of bar/lounge with a laid back atmosphere that serves cheap food and drinks. It's the Japanese equivalent of a dive bar. Though there is a chain of sushi restaurants called Izakaya, which really confuses things. It's definitely a weird choice to take a girl out for the first time, unless you're coworkers or in a group date. It's more of a place you go with a group, not on your own or with one other person.

A friend of mine brought up a concept to me that explains the situation well. Friend zoned guys in these situations are the cock in a jar. Break in case of emergency. Girls like keeping them around because it validates them as worthwhile dating partners. They get all the benefits of having a boyfriend minus the sex. And in case they need extra emotional support in case of a bad break up, they can break the jar and have sex if they want to feel good about themselves.

Nice. Not trying to detract from your success but when you say looks don't matter but get the compliment that you work out, it kinda detracts from your point about looks not mattering. The fact that you're not overweight makes a pretty big difference when attracting girls. Not saying being fit is 100% required, but it helps.

I understand what you meant by WWJBD. That's pretty straight forward. What I didn't get is how what you did is supposed to be anything like James Bond. I also don't see that working unless there's at least some mild physical attraction coming from her. No girl would act like that if the guy was some unkempt neck beard.

I understand and agree with your position. My posting was originally more for me to discourage low content posts. I never said you should remove all posts like this or even this one specifically. But I do take a tiny issue with encouraging low content posts. You have to admit he could have included things like, "I tried to keep eye contact, but I forgot to use kino" or go into more detail about his conversation and ask for advice about possible improvement. I wasn't trying to act like every post needs to be a treasure trove of advice and information. Far from it. I'm no expert myself. All I'm saying is that there are ways (and I've seen them) of making first time FR posts that expound on information that the OP learned (like all the "just don't give a fuck" posts) or mistakes he could have learned from, without it simply being a circle jerk over someone stepping out of their comfort zone. The fact that this post is at the top of seddit despite givi…

We need a subreddit for socially awkward people to report successfully getting out of their shell. I'm all for supporting people trying to make themselves better but FR posts like yours don't contribute to seddit. You're basically looking for a circlejerk. Saturation of zero content posts devalues the visibility of actual content. As for your points, it's possible to do a first time FR that shows "it's actually possible" and still shows some teachable moments. I've seen many of them on here. So …

Just wanted to say, congrats on your small success, but still downvoting because I don't think we need to have FRs that give little to no material for learning. You didn't even seem to use any techniques. It was a simple approach with very standard lines. I just don't think seddit should be a circlejerk for every time someone breaks out of their shell and decides to share it. Posts should teach something, whether it's mistakes to avoid or successful experimentation.

He's talking about small successes with things you have control over, like cleaning your house, doing your dishes, doing your laundry. You don't have to set big goals and achieve them. Set goals like going out and running. I think you're reading it differently than the rest of us, because I didn't take away from it at all like how you're describing it. Not saying this isn't the right course of action, but don't a lot of guys find success despite not treating women like people but rather treating them like goals? I've read plenty of FRs and they usually focused on the OP's actions and their mentality rather than the girls. Your post kept going on about how your feelings and how you may be developing some feelings for her and then they go on to talk about her reaction to the situation. Point out where I insulted you. You're clearly being defensive. Chill the fuck out. All I said is your mentality is pretty classic AFC. It's an evaluation on how you've been acting and how you describe your thought patterns. It's not an insult. If you take it as an insult that's on you, not me. You get way too defensive for a guy just asking for advice. The only reason I brought up alpha and AFC is because you and other people brought it up. No you're talking to a girl. Big difference. If you really want to follow PUA material you don't just focus on one girl. The point of the seddit community is self improvement on how to talk to women, not "how do I make this one girl like me?" Either way, this post breaks r/seduction rules. This should be in r/askseddit.

What assumptions have I made about you? I'm just describing the mentality of your posts you made here when I said it's AFC mentality. Classic AFC mentality to second guess every form of success. 99.9% of women don't hang out with guys (that aren't close friends) from 12 to 6AM without some sort of attraction interest. What's the point of dwelling on the possibility that she's just bored and using you for entertainment? How does that change anything? If you're interested in her, keep on the approach. I'm pretty confused about how you can think you're alpha when you just posted a long wall of text about your own insecurities. She had a bite mark and it made you feel bad? How is that alpha? Why do you care when you keep saying you aren't attracted to her? It's not alpha to be "awesome" and then wonder why a girl isn't showing attraction. It is alpha to not give a fuck and create attraction if you want it, and if you don't want it, it's more alpha to just not give a fuck if they are or aren't a…

Sorry to be the grammar police but it's hung not hanged. Hanged is for executions. Never thought I'd have to tell anyone this, since it's always people using hung when they mean hanged, not the other way around. Anyways, if a girl agrees to hang out with you then it means there's some sort of interest even if she says sure whatever. Trying to question it is silly. If she was uninterested she'd say no, or more likely she'd make an excuse not to and not bother suggesting an alternative.
/r/seduction29/11/11 07:29 PM

Not sure whether to upvote for a decent post that links to supporting material that could help people or downvote for the silly idea that you can simply ignore all PUA material and use only conversation to build attraction. It completely ignores presentation and physical communication.
/r/seduction29/11/11 06:43 PM
4

This. The OP shits on the whole arsenal of tools in PUA material to promote one tool that he thinks is most important. Yes it's important, but it's not the one thing that will get women. Being a good conversationalist and a good listener can make you friends, but it doesn't automatically build attraction.
/r/seduction29/11/11 06:41 PM
1

I don't think empathy is the problem, though. I'm very in tuned with empathizing in conversation but I'm terrible with reading signals and what people are thinking in terms of attraction and flirting. I think the problem a lot of somewhat social AFCs have is not being able to escalate past friendly conversation. Making emotional conversation isn't a problem for me, but actively knowing that I need to do kino or escalate is tough.
/r/seduction18/11/11 09:43 PM

Ah. Sorry I misunderstood, then. Yeah I wasn't trying to say that all there is to seduction is running game. The advantage naturals have is they don't have to invest brain RAM to attract women so they can be less self conscious about how they are presenting themselves, and thus often times making themselves come off better. It's hard to really learn from their example starting as an AFC since we do have to deal with consciously making decisions that don't come naturally.
/r/seduction18/11/11 08:53 PM

I wasn't at all addressing that. I was just pointing out what I perceived as a miscommunication between the OP and the terminology that is being used.
/r/seduction18/11/11 07:19 PM

All I'm saying is that he thinks he's not running game because he treats girls like people not like games, implying that people running game all treat girls like they aren't people but rather games. I'm saying that yes there are people that run game that do that but it's not intrinsic to the idea of running game and that the OP also runs game, he just doesn't realize that running game doesn't mean "treating girls like they are games rather than as people".
/r/seduction18/11/11 06:46 PM

All I'm saying is he's acting like "running game" means treating the girls like they are pieces of a game and not real people when that's not necessarily how people see it. "running game" really just means using techniques to make women interested and attracted, which he does consciously or not. It doesn't mean the guys who run game don't care about the women they are running game on (though some who run game don't care about the targets, if you're running game in your social circle, you probabl…

I think there's a miscommunication on what game means in this context. I don't think people are necessarily treating interacting with women like it's a game and not meaningful. The "game" is about how we should present ourselves and how we act in social situations. Him saying it's not a game kinda misses the point. It makes it sound like he think PUA material is all about treating women like objects and pieces in a game and all we are doing is playing. That's not how I see it. He's running game …

My point is that the advice works in the frame of reference that you're thinking a guy should push it, but it shouldn't be blanket advice because some types of advancement could be creepy from the get go. I get the point, and I agree, I just think there should be more to it than that. Don't overthink and stop yourself from making a move but at the same time, there is such thing as trying too hard or moving too fast and making an ass out of yourself even if things would have otherwise gone well.

Some women do. I opened a door for some HBs at comic con once and one of them smiled at me and said "chivalry isn't dead!"

I never understood why feminists would hate that. I know it's about the social expectation but guys that open doors for girls generally open doors for men, children, and handicapped too. It's not about being chivalrous towards women only, but it's often about general courtesy towards all people.

I've met plenty of people with great personal value that smile all the time. I don't think this is always true.

He challenges her(not me) to not knowing me and asks me to get her what she wants. I don't really get what he challenged her to do, when it was mainly you having to get her a drink without being told.

I don't think the underlying theory of "the game" has anything that is wholly opposed to smiling at women first.

This can be dangerous advice, though. It could be that what you do is so underhanded that she can't call you out on it to stop or is too nice to say no even though it makes her uncomfortable. It's the two faced nature of the "nice guy".

Well the one I'm thinking of in particular works at a market I used to work at and is learning Japanese which I took 4 years of, so there's that. I just suck at closing that. It's often small talk. I'll definitely buy more stuff once I start working, but I've been buying a little bit at a time since I don't have a lot of money and living alone so a lot of food rots if I buy too much.

I chat up cashiers for practice but I find it hard to get past small talk unless you're buying a lot of stuff. You just don't have time to really talk and there's usually someone behind you. This isn't the case with basically any other grocery position. There's less of a time limit. Anyone got tips on flirting with a cashier chick with the intent to ask them out or get a number at the very least?

Yeah. I wish I tried harder and had access to seddit when I was in college.

God I just noticed your screen name. Something about "friend bone" rubs me the wrong way. And I'm probably the most pun friendly person you could ever meet.

99% of college students are the same age. Being in the same school gives you social context to talk to someone. It's a relatively safe place for people so they have their shields lower than when out in public like at a club or on the street. Being the same age definitely helps, as is being in the same point of your life as these people. The fact that you're basically living within a few minutes walk from hundreds of not thousands of single people your age makes it a million times easier than hav…

He's also saying that you're in college. That's a bubble. Build confidence and experience but don't think you're all hot shit because you got some success in college, where it's pretty much easy street for picking up girls since you don't need to build context to work on a girl. Not trying to diminish your success because that's pretty awesome for you, but it's just one isolated case.

While I can see where you're coming from, I don't think your advice necessarily applies to everyone. Yeah it can be a crutch but it can also be that little nudge that pushes people from being stuck in their shell and towards being social and daring. There's nothing wrong with that, especially when starting out without any real experience. If alcohol starts crippling your abilities, then that starts being a problem, but I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad thing in all situations.

I wouldn't go that far. Alpha is more of a personality type. But because personality is dependent on social situations, it requires other people to really be relevant. If two alpha males are in the same conversation group they are both still alpha males even if one is more dominant than the other. It could lead to a clash or simply them getting along (depends on the person). In other words, an alpha male in an empty room isn't really an alpha since it really depends on the fact that other people…

He was saying that even though his own post has nothing to do with The Game, Neil Strauss' book Emergency is excellent.
