How often do they come back?In what sense does she sound incompatible? Mainly because she hasn’t looked back? I guess I always thought incompatibilities reveal themselves early on, not years later. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 10:32 PM
How often do they come back? You perfectly described how it was like for me. Often when we were fighting I would try to search for a resolution, anything to fix things and focus on being happy, and all I got was more “reasons” she was upset and it turned into a never-ending game of gaslighting and whack-a-mole. And at times I felt crazy, like I’d be looking at grass and she would see it purple even though it was clearly green. I don’t think I’ll ever make sense of it but I know I’m not (that) crazy. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 09:39 PM
How often do they come back?Im glad to hear, I’m hoping time will do the same for me. How long do you think it took you to fully detach? | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 04:02 PM
How often do they come back?I’ll read up on this, thank you for pointing this out and for the rock solid advice. I’ve been faking it day by day but little by little I’m seeing the successes build up in life. This experience has definitely taught me to never abandon myself again. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 04:01 PM
How often do they come back?I’m so sorry to hear that man, it’s absurd how some people start acting when they start searching for validation elsewhere. My ex-wife also referenced giving me a hall pass and wanting us to have sex in front of other people several times. I never thought much of it, other than I wasn’t interested because of how in love I was with her. Now I wonder if it points to things she was doing behind my back. She became really paranoid towards the end and falsely accused me of hiring a private investigat… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 03:20 PM
How often do they come back?Yeah, that describes how things went about with her. It was frustrating at times seeing her gaslight and twist my genuine words and explanations to fit whatever false narrative she was making of me. And my family member is well aware. He didn’t immediately recognize her sister’s name and had accepted the wedding offer beforehand. I don’t blame him as he didn’t know and is getting paid, though it frankly feels insulting that my ex-wife would recommend him to her sister (which is what happened). | 2 | How often do they come back?Love this analogy! I will say emotionally I’m doing much better than a year ago, I just fall back into rumination and missing her every now and then. But to go along with your metaphor, I just need to make sure the car stays well maintained and the GPS is set on the right path. Thank you | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:55 PM
How often do they come back?I’m sorry that you went through something similar. It really is bewildering, especially since I had the emotional capacity to sit with the pain and look back on the things I did wrong and could have improved on. I just wish she would have done the same. How are you doing now? Do you have any advice on moving on or things you did that helped? | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:52 PM
How often do they come back? Thanks, your comment really resonated with me. You’re absolutely right about trust, I know deep down I’d just be waiting for her to leave again. I just wrestle a lot these days with confusion over why she left. I felt like I never got a fair reason or chance to rectify things. She just took a unilateral decision and ran with it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:35 PM
How often do they come back?Thank you, as another commenter said I’m just trying my best to figure it out on this silly rock. But I definitely resonate with you about having a hard time trusting. I just assume people have ulterior motives when interacting with me now unfortunately. We have no children and the divorce was finalized about 9 months ago. It was about as clean of a divorce as can be, no alimony or division of assets since we had a prenup. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:34 PM
How often do they come back? Thanks for your helpful comment. I am proud to be directing more energy and love back to myself these days than I ever did when I was with her. I was (and still am) heartbroken over her leaving and it led me to depression and risky behavior. I’m not proud to admit that I’ve been on countless dates and slept with over 10 women since she left. I never once desired to look elsewhere or sleep around when I was with her. I’ve realized that sleeping around isn’t the solution for me. Sure it provided a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:27 PM
How often do they come back? You’re absolutely right in how you phrase it. Truthfully, I’m chasing the ghost of what I had with her before everything went downhill. I’m just shocked at the speed in which she detached and never looked back. But I know deep down that your advice is the right path forward. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/04/26 02:09 PM
