A lot of meme statistics that are simply not true are being thrown around in this thread, especially the classic '20 percent of men get 80 percent of women', poorly derived from Tinder swiping statistics and not representative of actual dating. The idea that the world is filled with harems, 'Chads' claiming women for themselves, is pure paranoia. Most people are serial monogamists and have 3-7 sexual partners in their life. Nor are staggering amounts of men virgins. After the age of 25 very few …

The idea that women today have high standards, and that Tinder, romcoms, or Disney are to blame, seems very prevalent. I don't think many women literally want a prince, or think they can get a pediatric doctor who looks like a model as in romcoms, but they would like to meet someone who sweeps them off their feet, blows them away. Wouldn't you? They're looking for someone to spend the rest of their life with, sorry if you're not good enough, but what's the plan here, to get settled on, guess I'm…

There has always been a tendency on the manophere to state broad generalizations with cocksure confidence. It used to be the red pill 'truth' that it's all 'game', that any guy could get any woman with sufficient 'game' (this was very literally said in Neil Strauss' book). Then the incels surfaced with their 'look are all that matters' mantra, even serial killers get laid! Don't know what the resistance to subtlety and nuance is. What about, several different things matter, dependent on person t…

On a positive note, if you can call it that, I actually have borderline personality disorder and was in a few group therapies, also a group theray for panic disorders. All the men in those groups had very supportive wives and girlfriends. We're talking about men with borderline who admitted to crying nearly daily, men with panic disorders who would hyperventilate when going to supermarkets. None of them were single.

If anything, I think the problem is that most men never open up, with the result that bottled up feelings come out, often explosively in anger, sometimes distressingly in depression and sadness in degrees that require a therapist. It's just another case in which women don't want want to play therapist or mommy to the guy they're dating. The stories about women leaving men after they cried over dead friends, pets or parents are just psychopathic, I can't believe that happens regularly. At the sam…

Men on the Internet are so obsessed with attractive women. Relax, the life of an attractive girl isn't a fairytale. Most still work hard, study, get a job, hold a career, raise children. It's easier for them to get dates, yes. People are friendlier to them, sure, although often with ulterior motives. Some harassment will likely be experienced too, on the flipside. That's about it, then they turn middle-aged and nobody cares about them anymore. They can be vastly different in personality, upbring…

I'm happy for you, and Larry David is obviously funny, having a detached ironical approach to people can, I'm sure, be charming and funny in its own way. I don't think most people are useless myself, but if you find someone who views life a little like you or is sympathetic to your viewpoint it can all work out, hope your relationship stays strong, best of luck!

I know an autistic man who has no problem getting initial dates because he can be very charming and charismatic, but he never makes it to longer term relationships; he'll say odd things, misunderstand emotions, be weirdly harsh, overshare on this or that hobby, plus his life is not really in order. I don't think he's lazy, I think it's very difficult for him to understand those kinds of social nuances and really take care of himself. He'd need somebody understanding who can see his shortcoming a…

There was a survey here that showed the majority of users were young male virgins. It's very sad because nearly every single standard talking point is wrong, demonstrably, statistically, it's just Internet cynicism based on hearsay, and these men are being corrupted by it for no gain, it doesn't help them, it actually makes them feel worse, it wastes their time and turns them bitter and warps their point of view. Such a pity. You're right, most people are serially monogamist, especially outside …

Men usually mistake sympathy, or really any kind of attention or kindness, for sexual or romantic attraction.

Sometimes I feel I'm crazy here, it's all: "Why do people think this or do that" and it's like, they don't, what are you talking about, this is just something weird Internet people think for some reason...

When you find the one, you don't want anyone else, they're everything to you, and who even cares what others think anymore? I hope everyone reaches that place. For some, especially younger people, and especially those suffering from poor self-esteem, being desired is an ego boost, although not a particularly effective or consistent one. There are a number of personality disorders, all deriving from feeling unloved at core, which foster promiscuity, because those who have it crave validation, lov…

If you're rich it's obviously a bonus, of course being a college educated man is better than working dead end retail jobs, and those things come up in conversation naturally. Doesn't mean you have to show up in sports cars and 3000$ watches (which is sometimes more trashy than attractive). It doesn't neccesarily matter on the first date yet either, it's about long term prospects. Homeless people get laid. Usually it's fine if you can support yourself, having your own place is a big bonus.

I'm glad you outlined that, surprise surprise, visiting a forum like this isn't good for self-esteem. You have to stop doubting yourself this much, get to a place where you can be comfortable dating and have fun. Relax, get off the Internet, trust people to be normal and well-adjusted, you might get burned here and there but it's not the end of the world. Dating someone is fun, it should be fun, I'm honestly shocked by how damaged and resentful and guarded all the comments here are. If you're ju…

Very true and well said, but pretty privilege, for normally aging people, is over by the time they're 40 anyway, usually, if not earlier with kids and stress. It's not like they get money just for existing either. Marrying for wealth is a possiblity, but that puts you in a vulnerable position. When I worked in a wholesale grocery store for businesses only, an attractive woman was the talk of the town, or store rather, we'd be alerted even in the break room and everyone snuck a peak. It was so pa…

I've had to argue with friends on this. 'Life is easy mode for attractive women, they just have to exist' &c. is such silly rhetoric. The people they're talking about worked hard, studied, hold down jobs, their life isn't perfect and easy because it's moderately easy to get dates, often with incompatible people, who then pay for a drink and a meal, relax.

A lawyer is obviously more desirable than a Wallmart shelf-stocker, and it's not just the job itself but also the associated salary and consequent clothes, house, vacations, lifestyle, some of which are immidieately evident, and there's implied ambition and intelligence. 'Women think men lie' is a very odd argument, proof isn't hard to offer and why would you lie? The thought has never crossed my mind. In any case the lie would be exposed very soon. Just because you can't tell if someone is a la…

Almost everyone I know in real life has met their partner through dating apps, including my soon to be married friend and sister who has recently bought a house with her boyfriend. After college it's harder to meet people organically in real life, and keeping the option open seems wise to me. For what it's worth, I know 1 friend who refuses dating apps, he tried and got almost no matches because of bad photos. Ever since he's been trying in real life, but with very limited success. He stalks all…

Is every threat here just vague, nearly meaningles conjecture by virgins in an attempt to understand women's sexuality (or something)? When you've reached the point of recollecting deleted Youtube videos and old forum posts, you might just want to find a hobby, man. I barely even understand what you're talking about.

I think is is perfectly true and the seething reactions here are just staggering. This generation has gone through great social seclusion because of covid and in general has far fewer friends, a greater degree of loneliness. Lesser social skills are a natural result. Why not take the criticism to heart and attempt to work on it instead of growing angry and saying it's really the women who are poor socially, which is rarely true? I do think that women, in general, are far better socially, in part…

Isn't the answer to why people are more reluctant to date virgins in your own post? If the cause is being unattractive, having no social skills and being socially anxious, it's fairly understandable to want to pass, because it's nicer to date someone attractive with social skills, I mean, obviously? Doen't mean the virginity itself is the direct problem. If you haven't lost your virginity by a certain point, and aren't religious or constrained by family or such things, which are rare exceptions,…

This post is such a good example of Red pill rhetoric warping the mind. You did a nice thing and a girl appreciated it, that's it. It's not simping, it certainly wasn't 'chivalric' (lol), and it also isn't worth ruminating over months later and overanalyzing it like it reveals deep truths about human relationships. 'Women love assholes' is a cartoon image caused by high school nerds watching jocks get girls. In general, being nice, caring, thinking of others, being emotionally intelligent are go…

I think you are paranoid and am genuinely worried about your mental health. Here are the actual facts: Most men find a partner and have settled down by forty. Men who easily date or seduce women are not mostly psychopaths, greedy pigs, or ruiners of women. Most women do feel bad for socially awkard men who struggle to form social connections. Women aren't ruined by sleeping around a little. Promiscuity is seen as a bad trait in both men and women while dating. A lot of women don't sleep around, …

I think women want men in touch with their emotions because men who have little emotional intelligence and are like brick walls are not great partners. Being a stoic, emotionless wall is a caricuture of masculinity that isn't actually appealing to be with on a day-to-day basis. Besides, those men are cropping up emotions and they will come out explosively, especially in anger, which most men certainly do show, despite their bravado about controlling their emotions and never crying. Who wants to …

You seem very lost in odd thoughts and assumptions and should probably get off the Internet for a bit. I'm not sure where you're still seeing the 'shower more' and 'be confident' advice either. If you want to date it's on you, society won't change, in that sense you have 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps', complaining about it online won't help. But your analogy is very lost. What else do you suggest? Money and a girlfriend to be donated to poor losers?

Coffee shops and museums are noisy? A lot of women don't like going to a man's house too fast, because you don't know if he can be trusted. Secluded spaces are the last places they want to go. If they feel comfortable enough to go to your house immediately they're likely looking for a hook-up with you, and then it's a good stepping stone for a relationship for sure, but I would be very hesitant to recommend it generally.

Any time women are asked what they wish their boyfriend or husband would do more, or do without having to be asked, they say it's giving flowers. Holding doors and so on does seem a little dated, like pulling a girl's chair back for her at a restaurant, you know, it's not 1950. Dating is not the same now as when you grandparents dated, no. What a surprise. Hope people don't draw the wrong conclusions there. I definitely don't think most men's problem is that they're too nice, or too thoughtful, …
