I think she acknowledged the "having kids" bit is no longer an option. OTOH I'm sure she'd happily accept a full blown circus of a wedding if the Right Man™ came along and swept her off her feet 🙄.

I wonder if her reluctance to travel OS is because of the custody arrangements for her child(ren), because she's scared of foreign cultures, or if she has a criminal past that would prevent her being allowed to enter most countries.

This case is in Australia. We do things differently here. For starters, family law is a federal matter, doesn't vary from state to state.

It would depend on the incomes of the parents (both outright, as well as relative to each other), considered together with the amount of time the child lives with each parent. I wonder if Mummy is going to try to abscond with the kid during a visit.

Because she was only convicted of 1 charge, she could only be sentenced on that charge. Sadly the modern legal system seems to place more weight on speed and ease of convictions, rather than nailing criminals for the crimes they actually commit.

I can lift more than my own bodyweight. No way known I can bench press 200lb, even though I weigh close to that (and am in the "Healthy" weight range for my height, for the very little value BMI has).

In Australia all that is required is "12 months or more in a marriage-like relationship," for the legal situation to be effectively the same as if you had married. Depending on the view the court takes, that may not even include living together. And if the court so decides, it can be a shorter period than 12 months.

Try a nice sour Lambic beer on a hot day (Gueuze, Berliner Weisse, Gose, etc.). Or a fruit Lambic if you want something a bit sweeter. Seriously, don't condemn beer because you don't like mainstream lagers, or whatever weird flavour of IPA the cool kids are into this week.. There's a huge range of "other" older styles that taste so much better than the usual crap commonly served up these days.

Considering the nonchalant way she dropped it, I am inclined to believe that the reason she was with the guy for so long was precisely what she said: She was stringing him along looking to monkey-branch and instead he moved on with the incredibly fortunate timing just before her health and beauty began to collapse. I suspect he saw it starting and moved on. Just because she states her looks collapsed suddenly doesn't make it so. She probably only noticed after he'd flown the coop for good, then …

Not sure where you'd find them (though I could hazard some pretty good guesses -- it's not terribly covert), but there's a big fight going on between various criminal groups ATM for control of the tobacco black market. Said black market is flourishing because of the aforementioned high tax rates on legal tobacco. Some clever do-gooder had a bright idea and thought they could basically tax tobacco usage out of existence and all those naughty little smokers would fall in line. Turns out the real w…

Never had anybody try that one. I did have a woman try to slide into a queue in front of me while staring intently at her phone. The age of consent in most Australian states/territories is already 16 (in SA and Tas it's 17). However, there are additional restrictions concerning those in a "supervisory role" such as teachers, church leaders, employers, etc. having sexual relations with 16 and 17 year olds.

They lived with treason, and executed those who committed treason. Unfortunately that option has been removed. If you read what I had said, you would notice that I was talking about countries like Britain (this case being a prime example of getting around laws that don't adequately cover the situation), or the USA (Gitmo).

Problem is the rules are written with a specific problem in mind to fix, often decades earlier. Do you think whoever wrote the law pertaining to citizenship in the wake of the Nazi's treatment of various of their citizens ever considered a case like this may arise? I highly doubt it. Many (if not all) countries that have a decent legal system (by which I mean it's not completely and fairly openly controlled by the dictator of the day) have at some point gone to extreme lengths to get around laws…

The men they do speak to are not average/normal. Several of my friends are single men in their 30s (so am I); none of us are in any way likely to speak to a magazine, go on a TV reality show, etc. Those are simply not things that any of us are interested in doing. 15 minutes of fame, old schoolmates contacting you, a few random loonies proclaiming they love you, and then nothing except a lingering reputation in the annals of Google. It helps if you stop thinking of it as a "justice system". A justice system would provide....ummm.... Justice, maybe? You know: fair, impartial -- all that good stuff. What most of the world (USA included) has are Legal Systems. They apply the law, without any mention of "justice".

That, and the sisterhood tell them so. Lady I work with has got SFA going for her: divorced, 3 kids under 18 living with her; she wasn't good looking years ago (seen pictures), turning 45 hasn't helped her; smoker; if there's any change from 120kg, I'll be amazed; and she's a complete and utter bunny-boiler. Sometimes it works out that way, sometimes it doesn't. As heartbreaking as it is, do you really want people in your life who hate you, just because they are related to you? One of my former colleagues got divorced many years ago (he's now retired). His ex bad mouthed him to the kids, messed up visits and blamed him, etc. Now he spends every Christmas with his kids, but none of them had even spoken to their mother for nearly two decades when I last saw him (pre covid). Working from your numbers, that would mean that the US had killed 480-600 million people. Bear in mind that the 8-10 million you gave doesn't include those killed in WW2, nor under any other Soviet leader (pretty sure Kruschev had more than a few killed); nor anybody that China killed. IIRC there's millions in the Cultural Revolution alone.

Probably depends what criteria are used. Whatever criteria are used, a significant amount of guesswork is involved, due to poor/non-existent records. Out of interest, what number would you put on it?

Absolutely this. Let them think they're getting close, but never let them win. I never let my younger cousins (nor the older ones if I could help it), nieces, nephews, etc beat me at anything. The look of triumph on my cousin's face the first time he beat me at chess proved why.

Every body is different, so it doesn't apply to everybody. But yes, sometimes the body can react to (who knows what), including the deodorant. I used to work with a guy who stank far worse when he was using increasing amounts of deodorant to try to mask the whiff. Turned out something was triggering his skin to produce more oils. Eliminated the deodorant -- problem not solved, but substantially reduced.
/r/PussyPassDenied02/10/21 02:25 AM

To compensate for the natural oils you wash off every time you shower. Our bodies don't just secrete them to annoy us -- they have a purpose. The body will attempt to maintain what it thinks it needs for good health, because evolution hasn't yet caught up with it. Similar to how our metabolism hasn't yet worked out that it doesn't really need to store fat, because we aren't hunter-gatherers any more.

There's plenty of times I wouldn't advocate for the death penalty, because of that smidgen of doubt. Here (as with her husband) you're simply spending a fortune on jail, especially with the extra security required to prevent further escapes. Plenty of innocent people have been executed, without "absolute chaos" ensuing. Probably the same people you punish when the legal system locks up an innocent person for years/decades: nobody. It's a long way from perfect, but no system is.

Irreversible is only a problem if it turns out the person wasn't guilty. Confident that's not the case here. I thought the goal was to prevent further offending. I've never heard of a dead person re-offending. And this one isn't worth trying to rehabilitate.

Sorry, the last paragraph went missing from the previous post. And re-reading it, I'll go back and fix the typos. Ahem.... All the punishments governments use would be illegal except as judicially imposed punishment. Why single out killing as being hypocritical for the government to use as punishment?
/r/PussyPassDenied11/06/21 01:18 PM
2

"Give me money or else!" I'd be charged with 'demanding money with menaces'. The government calls it a 'fine'. I can't think of a single judicial punishment which would be legal under other circumstances. If I grabbed someone off the street and held them captive, the would be 'kidnapping and false imprisonment'. Yet that's exactly what would happen to me.

I am happy to help people learn new skills. I will stand there and drink the beer they bought for me, while telling them how to do/fix something they don't know how.
