the OP is the 'security staff member of the campus security' who was approached. Just an FYI the security staff at MTA are predominantly composed of the football team. The accused guy is a football teammate and good personal friend of the OP as well.

The original poster not only worked security at the establishment where this altercation took place, he is also a close friend of the accused individual. His involvement in the investigation was to protect his friend 'the guy' from being charged. They are good friends and teammates on the university football team. The football team also runs the security for the university pub. To me this screams conflict of interest and a biased perspective of the events

The school initially offered to press charges against 'the guy' in question, it was after they reneged on their offer and ceased the investigation that the letter was written to the paper

This is not true at all rape was never claimed at any point during the investigation, only sexual assault.
