Great point man, allows you to pull away from those external pressures and begin to sense your own internal drives, so you can realign your life as you see fit.

Hopefully he gets out of that situation. I'm a bit confused as to the pre-story...hopefully learns to always background check...just a good idea.

I've heard similar sentiment from a friend who's family is still in India (He's here in the U.S.). All of them were "business people", while he dedicated his time to become an engineer. Always guilt tripping about sex-before-marriage, why-aren't-you-communicating, why-are-you-angry...I feel for the guy. So when I read this, I also feel for you man too. One great thing about freedom is that you can choose your associations, as long as you understand that all relationships are voluntary (even if…

I remember that feeling and sentiment...and still have it as well. Difference now is that I use it with those who earn it, and I hope I do the same with those around me too.

The "we were kidding part", that's the move made when they know it's not working and try to flip the script. There's people who joke and make it fun...and then there is what you went through. Keep it up man

On point right there. Some sort of bio-mechanism kicks in and they start to say the routine "hating women," "misogyny"...when we were talking about knights who decided to not follow the normal path in the Medieval ages.

Yeah I would completely cut ties there, so damaging and not necessary for the short life we all have hear. Good luck on that man, good luck.

This is unfortuante, to say the least. Sexting, egging each other on...being misleading in life causes yourself to be misleading to yourself...good luck to him in life, gotta get his game in line.

The point about not being swayed by social ostracism and pressure, and focus on truth and virtue ...that's where I'm at man. Thanks for this

Self-Respect is foundational to what I've found saved my life from losing sight of what mattered. And totally agree about how when you lose self-respect, that's when you're vulnerable to those who wish to use you for their own nefarious (or to them, respectable) purposes.

Now that's a good graph of what it feels like when you're doing r/theredpill, bluepill, or really any of the pills. Pills = treadmill for figuring out how to change your thinking to fit a new model. Thanks for sharing!

Man that's a good question. I've seen the similar transition in the past few years. Initially was a forum where I was like "oh ok so here's the hoops of how to jump through to get it." Now I look back, and realize it's a honeypot type situation to catch them. Hopefully people keep getting more smart about their situation and use the internet to their advantage.

It's a weird feeling, right? Just this flatline of it not bothering you, and then you suddenly notice it. And it becomes disconcerning, but then you remember you had a steak in the fridge that you wanted to sear just right over the flame... ;) But all jokes aside, that's interesting feeling for sure.

Hey great to hear, and thanks for sharing. It's great to discover this type of environment where guys are trying to figure things out, and to have the space to propose ideas and be wrong (or right) about concepts. Really appreciate the jokes, the depth, the darkness that others share, as it shows we're not alone.

On Point. You're basing your judgement by how people act and show themselves to the world. Why? Because it works and is generally true for navigating yourself through this world. Of course, if you espouse this, it comes across as conformist, being judgemental, unaccepting...god damn that's annoying.

Flipping the script...holy...didn't think of it like that before...how the "blue pill" situation is just like staying in an abusive situation. Gotta appreciate this sub for reframing my own mind, I appreciate it.

I've also read that many of the great men of society didn't actually "grow up." They remained child-like and fun, testing and trying new ideas and possibilities, because they could. growing up and becoming a "man" has now become a milestone set for people to jump through. But before, it meant to have your mind and body tooled on to take the world. Both the joker and warrior would want to be that type of man, and it wasn't seen as a unique milestone. The whole marriage and relationship part...tha…

I used to spend a lot of time online trying to take the "secrets" from others in the dating game and see if it would work for me. Turned me into a chameleon, where I began to question who "I" was vs. what I was doing. Once you go MGTOW, it's a suffer able path: figuring out who YOU are, and what you believe, what you truly want in life...it's fascinating to see the difference. One is the short term pleasure road but lost from the beginning. One is the long term challenging road, but you know you…

Part of me thinks this is really unfortunate that someone isn't seeing the reality of their situation clearly. The other part of me sees the immense danger if this type of thinking continues, as it leads to delusional thinking and "it's everyone else's fault" type approach. Gotta keep an eye out...

Yea I've had that feeling of getting lost. Unfortunately it's about being tied up with the parent finances. Luckily now breaking away, but man it's such a pull to release control to others...without knowing the long term impact.

Gotta go find that Patrice O'Neal bit where he talks about how elsewhere in the world, men are seen as supermen But we, in America, are here on Krypton , with women just jabbing us with their kryptonite thinking it's going to make us into men...not realizing how lost they are.

There's also no sense of long time, as in multi-generational perspectives. Understanding the impact of changes we make now for the immediate future is already a problem, but trying to help people understand the impact 50 years down the line...it's embarrassing. In the medieval ages, they used to take 300 years to build a cathedral...300 years. And the arrogance to assume we know more than we do now, yet can't plan for 4 years of our personal lives (for some) makes me really focus on not assuming…

I've also seen a degradation of the clothes that people wear. Going from professional to pajamas pretty quickly. The idea of not understanding the words that are unsaid about the work environment (loyalty, professionalism, political posturing) comes across as "why does this happen I don't understand," instead of listening and watching how a large company operates. Also hearing about the unconscious bias training and diversity hiring is just dumb. I want the best people on my team, no matter what…

From the sound of it, you've learned to develop a sense of self and know when you choose to help others vs. feel obligated to help others. That's big. I'd say a large minority of men...maybe majority, never get there. And the spiral that happens downward...that's such a bad spiral. The PUA stuff definitely is scripting items. But it taught me to look at myself vs. continue to dance through hoops...and then it was like an umbilical cord that made my mind self aware of what was going on around me.…

Can totally relate to the grow-old idea. I saw my grandma and my grandpa together until their 70s when they died, and I wanted what they had. Good relationship, loving, committed, church on Sunday, focused on helping their community...they were just good people that I wished to be like. Same thing with the PUA books. How I started to see a new perspective, and found it interesting. And found it more interesting with the reaction girls and some guys would give in a really negative way for me bein…

Seems like the comments below are a pretty good summary, but I can totally empathize with this too. People ask me about relationships, why still single, or why choose to be single, or when plan to get married. Sometimes I say thanks for the recommendation, other times I try to make a point for asking why I should listen to them vs. others? It's an interesting situation, but when you have your own perspective and listen, maybe you can inspire others to think critically.

She doesn't sound like a nice person to be around, so you're really lucky to have gotten this chance to break away and see things as they are. Usual rules is to do no contact, no follow, block everywhere, and get away from it as fast as you can. It's not mentally good to allow bad people use their self destructive actions to influence the direction you wish to take in life...it's a very brief life too. You'll do great, just struggle to the light, and get away from this darkness.

Man that's unfortunate to hear, how these actions by others are now reinforcing reciprocity on the person they damage or choose to treat as a non-human. I mean...you spent 9 years together. And to monkey branch at this stage of the game is like seeing a monkey swing from one tree out into the open savanna, where they grab at a branch that is no longer there, or can't support their weight, leaving them out in the open for consumption by life lions...that analogy got a bit too deep. Anyways hope a…

Yea the mental gymnastics needed for continuing a relationship that isn't going well is so common that it's become the norm. It's where the classic sayings are just repeated instead of real thought. I think sometimes people don't face it because they understand that the short term loss will be perceived as massive (financially, emotionally, relationships with others), without understanding the longer term benefits after you make it through the transition.

Sure, you have fixed costs and daily costs. Fixed costs: Flight to and from, as well as internal flight. International flight from USA to BKK in early december is about $800 round trip right now. It'll be 1.5-2k for that same flight as we get closer. Use Google Flight to see the price analysis. The internal flight from BKK to South Thailand is about 100 round trip, so not too bad. Daily Costs: Hotel, Food, Entertainment, Transport, Drinks. The nice thing about Thailand is that after you do a cur…

Sure I can see this perspective, makes sense to me. And with a few more years than myself, I'd have to defer to your experience for the longer viewpoint. I think the last point about how it seems like they're confused to what they really want, and chase after what society has deemed appropriate (next gadget, belief system, or short term fulfillment), is a good point. Growing up while watching the shift occur (in myself, as well as with society) is such a fascinating experience, especially when I…

Oh...now that's an interesting concept, the disappearance of relationships. If you just look at the costs/benefits of relationships now, especially with the flooding/unbalanced sexual market...I didn't think of that concept. Will think about this for a while, really frames the recent changes in society well.

Definitely a valid pathway that could happen. MGTOW is basically guys who have freed themselves of the...250k+ burden of a relationship or children that would be invested over 18 years. So they would see it as available disposable income to grab after. For some, that's ok. But always good to move from a state of decision, not excitement. Thanks for this clarity, it's appreciated.
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:53 AM

Interesting shift there in my thoughts based on this post. Appreciate it. Swapping 1 vice for another one, without stepping back further and asking "why not just drop the vices and get a vice-grip?" is such a big thing to realize.

I read through this, and thought of Patrice O'Neal talking about how guys want quantity, not quality. And women should want 1 quality, that they love. Unfortunately, they try to mimic guys on the front end by getting that quantity (which is a hot-dog eating contest, not a challenge), without realizing on the back-end how much they're screwing themselves of a future. Something like that

Yea I can see this for sure. We're also seeing the data now on the 30+ situation for relationships, but we haven't even collected the data (or are analyzing it now) on the impact that social media and the swiping-generation is having on the relationship satisfaction among men, with the resulting marriage/divorce statistics. Pendulum is swinging back for sure, unfortunately we can't go back and instill what people learn from the hard knocks of life...or the result of some hard knocking by a bit t…

Planned a trip in December for 2 weeks in South East Asia, saving money now to go towards the cheap beach resorts, nearly unlimited massages, relaxation, and temple/meditation visiting. How cool is it to plan and execute life strategies that you only thought "rich" people did in their old lives?
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:38 AM

Cognitively being able to ignore them is a good strategy. But when chemically, with testosterone and all that rearing it's head...it's damn hard to avoid it. But over time, you begin to see the results and the body reconfigured...or you just gain a few years with changes in chemicals lol.

Happy birthday man, and great to hear that you're on a good path. Get those other pillars in life aligned for your passions (and away from what you don't want), and see where it goes. Pretty amazing to see what even 1 year of honest reflection and work can do for yourself.
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:35 AM

Can totally see this man. Would rephrase it with a focus on friends, but this is great. I'd think that this chart is valid when you have a fully functioning society with people who are not ideologically possessed. But recently, starting to see that chipped away over the years. Free thinking is so key, and hard to know when you've got it.

I've begun to wonder when management at my company will begin mandatory "unconscious bias training." I can see it coming, and it's something completely off base. Already looking at other options so I'm ready to pull the chute, but it's unfortunate to know that this is in the back of my mind as I work towards my own future.
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:29 AM
2

When I read these things, because it's the internet, my mind just says "no way." But there's too much evidence in real life, once you get behind the first scene and see the second scene of some people's lives. The lives they hide with small conversations about the things that don't matter. Really hope that guy starts to see things more clearly.
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:28 AM
2

Take this to heart. When you really start focusing on yourself, many may call you selfish or self centered. Most likely though, you're not a psychopath who's psychotically focused on your own goals. More likely is that you were a tool for others to use, and they don't like it when their tools want to do their own things. Go for it, you may just begin to like life a lot more.
/r/MGTOW26/07/18 12:25 AM

very clean, and great to see that's fully paid off and on, that's a big accomplishment because now you can move on to bigger things, as well as the things that matter to you most

Probably has the dual messaging going on. One to push n shame, other to procure that short term return...such a negative thought in my mind, still need to get out of the anger phase and into the acceptance phase.

Reminds me of a system of thought that focuses on wholeness, not perfection. Perfection is an abstract, never ending ideal that will incentivize you to never start, while wholeness is about just doing your best and doing what you want. Now that I think about it, many of my relationship mistakes (that's the mistake right there lol) were due to agreeing to a standard based on perfection...good to be on MGTOW and realize these things now before getting sucked down the train.

I'm with you on that. Part of me wants to share this information, but in general, the audience is already predisposed to a lot of bias/push-back from their own lives and the history of their families (broken families, single mothers, bad relationships, or blue-pilled filter). You run into confirmation bias and other biases that it's not an actual conversation between people. It just turns into an ideological battle that you thought would be a fun conversation...Just keep building your own future…

When I open up about an interest in psychology or the mind/psyche, it turns into a discussion about 1. recent topic from MSM about the top 10 things...without much research backing or interest. or 2. The whole tricking the brain part in order to deal with the immensity of the BS around us is a really interesting thread to pursue. Reminds me of a quote that says "Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, make sure you are not, in fact, just surrounded by idiots." Our minds are so powerful that they can play illusions or filters to make us be able to bear that burden, instead of choosing to walk away and find challenges that truly matter to yourself.

I've definitely had those thoughts about returning back to the good-ol days, by going to a Midwestern state and reside in a smaller town with that feel of disconnectedness and nature. Challenge is...internet doesn't care about small town feel, and it seems like cell phones and electronic devices just suck women into the vortex of validation and attention. Still have that glimmer of hope...but it's turning into an understanding vs. desperation at this point.

Really appreciate this sub, and just the people in general. So far it just seems like honest perspectives, and thought that seems to have some backing vs. an emotional whiplash. The history of their relationship is peculiar, if not downright backwards. My challenge is that the background seems to not be discussed or cleared up. It would be helpful if he could come clean about that background and inception of the relationship... What I find interesting is that maybe even for 5 years ago, I wouldn't have looked at it twice, just because it is what it is, people do what they want. Totally something I've noticed too. There's a good youtube video talking about the breakdown of the cost from Redonkulas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVHIGYgDvsI The cost is definitely major, but it would make sense if the benefits outweighed that cost. But now we're beginning to wake up and see the benefits not outweighing the costs. Instead of natural benefits, there's more emotional and social pressure from those who remember a different time or are concerned with their own well-being (pe…

I think that's what's so cool about this movement because there's such a diverse type of group of men going their own way, the way that they see is best for them. Definitely an interesting perspective, about how we talked about the transition that's occurring in society, but we see it as some sort of 10 or 20 year Horizon, potentially more. I do think it's a vast generalization to say that all those men have a challenge, and I'm sure the actual writer would agree that maybe it's a portion of individuals who have mental issue s. I do think that when people bring up the idea of mental challenges, it seems that people look at it as a one-sided issue, where d…

I really appreciate post like this, because it helps us remember the bigger picture, as well as not to sacrifice who you are, just to appease people you actually don't know very well. it sounds like a simple truth, what you wrote, but at the end of the day a lot of us still need to have the basics that reveal to us, because we didn't have good father figures, or didn't have father figures, or we grew up it up family situation where the man was demonized. Thanks for the reminder, greatly apprecia…

I can totally understand that perspective, and it reminds me of when I used to see my grandma and my grandpa. They raised three boys who are now pretty good men, engineers and the mix. I find it interesting how I like this idea and concept, but if I were to voice this perspective with anybody else around me, it'll come across as misogynistic or hateful. still got the idealism inside of me, and hopefully we can figure out how to move forward even with that inside me

I also think it's a return to the Past, in a positive way, where men focused on the self, chivalry, honor, and self-sufficiency, instead of focusing on the material and the more shallow parts of relationships

Yea...that's something I haven't thought of. Hopefully there's a way to mimic this subreddit and then deploy it on a separate site that's a bit more...capitalistic in nature.

I definitely agree with you about that, and I found that many spas that are split between genders has a type of feeling, where the guys can be guys and just hang out and I have to worry about... Really anything. recently received the trend of the Boy Scouts becoming Boy and Girl Scouts, so with time is going to be more and more demand for private spaces. the hope is that it doesn't come across as a threat to the current status quo, and instead of seen as a capitalistic opportunity for some sort …

That's actually really good point, I didn't think about it before you said that. Those Concepts that require esoteric thinking definitely aren't common among most people, especially those who haven't read or thought about these Concepts.

Totally agree there as well, the more abstract Concepts like honor, dignity, respect, and hard work, seems to be thrown to the Wayside for some reason... It reminds me of a quote that talks about how great men make good times, good times make weak men, then weak men bring hard times and hard times breed great Men

Wow that's a deep realization, thanks for sharing this perspective. There seems to be an approach to MGTOW where you transfer your motivations/meaning from exterior/societal based norms to an internal source. I believe it's called the "locus of control." It sounds like you're in the transitioning phase, but I can't say for sure. I would definitely keep exploring the concepts, as there's a lot of guys here who have been through what you're experiencing. Hope we get some good responses. Take care …

That's definitely going to be something interesting to study. I would pair that with the introduction of Birth Control as well. Birth Control gave them the biological control, and when you pair it with dating applications, that accelerates their hypergamy to a new level without the consequences of babies...not realizing there's a lot of psychological damage when you ignore your biological drive.

Capitalism at it's finest...meaning that the price point will drop to nothing soon enough...oh wait...it's already hit rock bottom...and this is just the last gasps of a few delusional ones ;)

Yea there's the naive ones who think it looks sexual without understanding why (prerequisite for life, we act ==> then understand actions), and then there are those who knowingly do it, but deny. And then those who knowingly do it, and don't deny. My challenge is that the line between them...hard to tell, which is why I tend to not worry about it anymore lol. Gotta hit the gym and enjoy this weekend!

Interesting to see this concept taking off. Looking forward to seeing 500k people on this sub, and see the trend across the online and offline world. Should build it more, and enjoy the great minds that have given us the light through the darkness.

I appreciated how he brought up this topic in a way that makes it discuss-able. It's also interesting to see the knee jerk reaction from most people based upon their past experiences. You could definitely look at his unicorn perspective, but you can also see how he understands the impact of this type of reality, and why "forced monogomy" (meaning societal pressure, not legislation) makes sense to keep things running. Another point he brought up previously was how we, as a society, don't understa…

can definitely understand that perspective, I think it's a part of the coping mechanisms of have to deal with as we begin to learn more about life, as well as about the challenges that we face. Denial, anger, depression... Gotta get through it to the other side 😊

Definitely can understand this point, half the time people think that you're compensating for something, or angry, which could potentially be true. But more likely it's just a rational response to a situation that doesn't make sense... And by doesn't make sense, I mean that it makes sense, but everyone else makes it seem like it's rational... When it's really a negative thing that's occurring in society

I'd have to say that's quite an experience you've been through. Homeless alone is something that I can't imagine. That's so interesting to see her reaction too. For me, I would say it depends on the therapist. They need to be understanding and see it from your eyes, and it really sounded like, from your perspective, that her own past played a role in her response. I'm looking to shifting to be a therapist myself in the next few years, so hopefully can be one of those guys who understands the mov…

On point. I like how you make the point about how feminism is the response to the asshole/chad phenomenon, and other men are seen as collateral damage (can't assume intention for some, both others...it's on purpose). It's swung a bit too far. For me I still have that hope it'll swing back with time. But for now, get to spend time building what I like in life. It's lovely.

It's all good, it's one of those things he is got to get out, it's appreciated. it's just nice to see people putting effort into understanding their own ideas and Concepts, as well as being willing to portray in a way that's actually understandable to others. Many times when you're talking with people, especially...anyways, your focus on just trying to understand the point of the conversation, instead of actually learning something new and figuring out how it applies to you. I think it's kind of…

I totally know what you mean. After a recent breakup, first went into an ice cream daze of movies and doing nothing. Then suddenly started to realize I was happier. Went off of anti depressant, started eating eggs/kale-shakes, slept at the right time...and suddenly found life worth so much more to me. Still doing the video games, but man...feels good to be good.

Yea I only have one friend who seems to have gone MGTOW. He phrases it as "if it happens, it happens, but she's gotta be great to make it something to consider." Being in his thirties with a 150k+ job and a life story that inspires me (leaving japan and the working culture to find something new, ends up in a great position that he worked hard for), his lax attitude outside of work and his kind demeanor with myself (late twenties guy who sees him as a friend/mentor) really inspires me to become s…

Thanks for writing this. Reminds me of how key words have begun to be missing from society, in particular the idea of Nobility. Being noble to oneself, to your family/community (before it turned into a non-community), as well as your ideal version of a higher being (whether it's your vision of a greater version of yourself, or someone you admired from the past). It just seems like children now, arguing over rights vs. taking on responsibility, and then demonizing what men are, without considerin…

It's hilarious when you're with guys you can trust, and just go all out on those jokes. Because they're just that...jokes... That's such a problem when you can't trust those types of guys. Gotta just focus on finding better guys to spend time with and learn from vs. the guys that seem to act like boys around you. There's so much to life that's more than snapchat or filters, just takes some time to find it and culture it to something worth living for.

I'm trying to remember the last time I've had a conversation with a girl where I learned Something insightful or that really benefitted my personal life, and it's hard to come up with a few examples. Of course confirmation bias could be playing a part, or maybe I'm not looking for it from women...but I just find the conversations taxing, if not a waste of time. Of course there's intelligent people out there, it's just hard to find these days...welcome to the NAWALT that's still in my mind after …

I've found that the saying "you can bring a horse to water, but it has to drink" (something like that) is pretty applicable. Goal should be to live by example, if you'd like to influence him. Otherwise, it'll be confirmation bias, or too much of previous notions to overcome except from experience. But good to see you chatting with him about it!

This really reminds me of Patrice O'neal's joke about how women, when asked how they would keep their man, would reduce themselves to a series of holes. Love this guy, wish he was still around to really show us what men are about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jnUU2c_i0w
