It's a shame we lost philosophy to Christianity. You are right it is much easier to give it up to God than to use the reason and logic that God bestowed upon us for self mastery and virtue. Philosophy is the harder path because it makes you face uncomfortable truths and uncertain futures. Most people are lazy and therefore stupid.

That might give you peace, but will not give you privacy. Everyone else will still be walking around with a personal recording device. Everything done in public is an open arena for anyone to record.

Great Post! Commitment is the enemy of freedom and a lack of freedom destroys life satisfaction. That is the truth!!!

I use a rewards credit card for all my spending. I pay the balance every month. The bank ends up paying me! Plus have a decent credit line is a nice safety net in case of a major emergency.

I've been in it for 10 years. I really want to try something else while I'm still marketable in my 30's. Something maybe with less hours. I know I can always go back to selling even as an old man. I sell Mercedes now. It's definitely one of the best brands IMO. Mercedes buyers are pretty loyal. Are you still in a sales position?

You are definitely right that appearance can make a difference. Many stores have more strict dress code. I was just stating that you don't need a suit to get into car sales. I'm just the kinda guy that likes to be casual. I worked for Penske for 5 years. They provided laundered shirts with brand logo for free which was nice. They cut compensation plans and started to micro manage pretty hard so I left a couple years ago. Congrats on your hard work, I know it's not easy to put up those kinda numb…

I sell luxury cars and have never worn a suit in my life. Clean shirt and a nice top is all you need for most places.

I'm in my mid 30s and most of my friends are married and having kids. I maintain good relationships with them so we can hang out once and awhile. We respect each other's life style choices so it works out. Sounds like your working well on self improvement. I hope to get there soon. Dealing with aging parents has taken most of my free time.

That's a sad story man. They gotta have their way until the very end. My mother preaches to me about God all the time and how I'm living in sin for not having a family and at the same time is trying to stuff my father in a nursing home. What a joke it all is. I'm not scared to be alone. I think it will be peaceful.

My parents were probably much like yours. I did have a really great childhood. It wasn't until my father got sick I saw how selfish she really was. I could tell she was concerned about what would happen to her without him than his health. She has definitely taught me AWALT.

Ultimately everyone is responsible for their own choices. However, I have seen my own mother drive my father into alcoholism. I think the point here is that your daughters may end up better by you raising them alone then with the lunacy of a woman.

Thanks for your response and insight. Was actually my father's recent hospitalization for alcoholism that got me started thinking. The hospital he was at was really well staffed and the level of care was excellent. A BSN would only take me 18 months. I sell cars so I'm used to working lots of 10-12 hour shifts many days in a row. My other idea was to become a bartender and work weekends.

I have been interested in nursing due to the fact that you can work 3 12's and have several days off. Does everything else kinda offset that benefit?

Being able to sleep well, wake up without a hangover, go exercise, eat healthy, and enjoy a beautiful day is far better than any feeling alcohol can give you. Don't let anyone kid you, alcohol is a depressant and can ruin you life and those around you. Stay strong brother, sobriety is worth it!

You don't need to use weights to do squats. I rarely do, and if I do its a kettlebell. The movement is very important for hip, knee, and ankle mobility. If you don't have any health issues preventing you from doing it, I highly recommend introducing it into your workout.

Very good post man. I relate to much of your narrative. It wasn't until my early 30's that I could start to see clearly what was going on. Every girl I dated around my same age had a very heavy agenda. After a few months of fun, it was a push for cohabitation and/or engagement. I always said no. I saw that I was completing them, they weren't completing me. I don't hate women either, I just know what I am dealing with now. I wish someone would have helped open my eyes sooner!

I won't go on about typical female behavior. However, from my experience in relationships women want control and men want freedom. Once you live together you lose allot of leverage and they think they can boss you around. Ive seen ex's frustration when they can't get me to do what they want. They push for cohabitation because they know they can grind us down. I refuse. Have lost "decent" girls. I just won't do it. It's a good thing you aren't married.

Man I guess I am just not that skeptical yet. You could be right though. I still think its a good article showing how people come together in times of need.

I feel your pain brother. Its probably tearing you up inside. Your situation feels not great but not bad enough to leave. You will learn from this experience and grow stronger. It may cost you some money, but well worth the opportunity for freedom. Never ever cohabitate with women.

Sounds like getting out of your comfort zone would be good. That is what I am trying to do and I am in my mid 30's. The good thing is that this happening to you when you are still very young. You have the opportunity to build your life any way you want it. Think back to before you were an adult. What made you really happy? What activities did you enjoy? Try to do something you are passionate about even if there is not much money in it. Go somewhere you have always dreamed about and try living th…

I told my father that he needs to stop pestering me about getting married and having children because I have no interest. He called me a selfish and said I was a bad person. He could not see the glaring hypocrisy of what he said. I felt bad for him.

I am an introvert. I have a forward facing sales position. I agree, most people are idiots. However, I like my job because interacting with people keeps me from getting lonely. At the end of the day I need to recharge by myself. That is my favorite part of the day. I don't have a strong desire to be around someone when I get home. So, I think introversion makes it more easy to go your own way and live a free lifestyle.
