In all of these pill ideologies, I never understood the dichotomy treatment of all these traits. I always considered the consistent theme in all the ideologies to be black and white thinking. Dichotomies are useful to identify and differentiate, but they are not perfect explanatory tools. Also, in general, I'm really hesitant to use or believe a lot of these data sets that are thrown around. These generalizations about men and women are really difficult to give a lot of credibility to. Often tim…

I know I'm probably not a welcome voice here, but hi I'm a radical feminist nerd who spent some time studying about this stuff. The wording of your question really struck me, because funnily enough, the origins of all these movements started that way. I'm about to nerd out below, but to tl;dr and give you a quick answer, r/MensLib . Learning that you're not supposed to be this way or another to me is one of the best aspects about being an independent agent. You don't have to actively subscribe t…

Hi! I'm the person who give this kind of advice out. I also reserve this advice for people who struggle to get dates, relationship and sex. (I'll be more specific, people who struggle, but are also insecure) I feel like it becomes this dating anxiety where the pressure of it (or not having experienced it) makes people lose their personalities and great qualities. For me telling people to learn to be happy by themselves is similar to telling a person to take inventory of their current situation. …

Thank you! I'm glad message was received as intended. I did want to expand on my perspective on the different lenses in feminism. Regarding "benign/willful ignorance" regarding "whoever asks, pays" is completely fair. Especially if it starts and end there, I would agree that it's thinly veiled "egalitarianism" and not actually striving for equality. But, I think in my particular scenario I described an algorithm where I try to keep things as fair as possible. Regarding the lens with feminism. I …

As for my inner circle. I don't know a single woman who will not accept a man who makes less than they do. Honestly, if an SO's career is that important to a woman, it speaks more to her individual values. I've been shamed before for having a partner who makes less than me and I'm sure my partner was also shamed. But neither of us subscribed to that value system so we both ignored it. It's a choice to consider things more important than others.

Hi /u/redditthrowaway1478, I just wanted to challenge a few ideas made in the post. Feminism is a large movement with many members. You can imagine the variability of different lenses and perspectives they can have. Some people will take advantage of feminism only for way that benefit them. It's within their freedom to do that and I understand this is not a likable trait. Some people have more robust attitudes towards equality. These people exist too! Speaking about volition and asking out, who'…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
