Im a stay at home spouse, but i do work from home part time. Even though i earn an income i still get a lot of negative comments from other women, claiming that I'm "too submissive" and should be "out there in the real world" just like him. The truth is I love the ability (and privilege) to be able to stay at home. My husband works hard labor, and is often gone for long hours. Staying home allows me to adjust to his schedule so we can have more time together. We do not have to neglect our relati…

You are SPOT ON girl! Sex is so important to a relationship, it's healthy, it's therapeutic, and in my opinion one of the best forms of communication ;) And I love the way my husband looks at me after I have satisfied him - he'll stroke my face as his fingers tremble with a dazed look of admiration. It makes me feel like the most beautiful, desired woman in the world. And I agree with not withholding/rejecting sex - I have never withheld sex from my husband, even after a heated argument, and I h…

If you're aiming for a monogamous, long term, high quality relationship then having a "leave them before you are left" mentality won't serve you. And if you want a relationship to work then you need to be willing to MAKE it work, and having the attitude that "men are just as disposable to women as women are to men" will only make you cynical. A relationship means hitting rough patches sometimes, REALLY rough, and those are the moments that test your bond. Thinking you should walk out before they…

-daily alcohol use -too indecisive - playing games/ghosting -mistreating others -no positive past dating experiences These came to mind immediately! I agree with the majority of what ladies have posted here as well. Goodness, this makes me so happy to be done with the dating phase!

Have you thought about working from home? That way you could take care of your home and still have financial independence, even if your partner is the main bread winner (this is the case for myself and my hubby). But you should definitely talk to your fiancé about this. Also keep in mind that you need to really trust someone when you have this dynamic. It's very easy for a man to take advantage of you being at home, you say you have been with this person for 3 months and that's not a lot of time…

I think this all heavily depends on the circumstances - was this a one night stand? or an ongoing affair? did he just meet some random person, or is this an ex he isn't over? did this happen 3 months into a relationship, or 3 years? While cheating is a big no-no and it is not ok no matter what, often times they can reveal a lot of issues in a relationship as well. I have known a few couples who have grown stronger after an infidelity - it was a wake up call for both partners. Whether or not a re…

My husband is very alpha; like your man, he works a very physically and mentally demanding job, he drag races and builds cars, he body builds and does mixed martial arts - very competitive. He teaches and guides me (he's a bit older as well) and makes major decisions. He leads like an alpha and expects me to follow, and you know what? I accept all of this. He provides an excellent life for me and keeps me safe. He consistently strives to increase the quality of life we have because he has such a…

I have a high sex drive, but my husband has an extremely high sex drive. For me sex 1-2 times a day is a good rate but for him it's like 3-5 ( I work from home so it's very easy for us to have an active sex life). I never reject my husband but he understands that it's hard for my body to handle sex at his ideal rate so he is mindful of that, and after an especially hard pounding he will give me time to recover lol. And if I'm just too tired and don't have the energy, he is ok with going at it as…

An interesting read; I can kind of see how the birth order of my husband and I has influenced our dynamic. He is 32 and the oldest of 3, I am 25 and the youngest of 4. He is very nurturing to me but also stands as a strong leader in my life, sort of the way my older siblings were. Actually, I'm the same age as his littlest brother, who he is also quite protective of - it comes very naturally to him and he enjoys being in that roll. But I'm sure many other factors influence these tendencies as we…

My partner is quite forgetful as well (he works a lot and he also has epilepsy which affects short term memory for him), but we work very well together when it comes to managing it. In any relationship you will need to be selfless, and I think a lot of this can be resolved by just helping him more. For example, trash is the one chore my husband always forgets and so I help him with it by putting the trash outside the front door when it's ready to go out. That way, when he is leaving for work (or…

I have a big comfy couch with tons of pillows as well! A definite must for any home. We love curling up on it on Friday nights with a fleece blanket. My living room wouldn't feel complete without our little cuddle spot. <3

My home is a bit rustic with an earthy touch. I've accented our home with pine-scented candles and diffusers, and most of the decor is a brown/sand tone with olive/deep green accents. We have "stone-tile" side tables (not quite sure how to describe them) and wooden wall panels with nature-esque paintings to solidify the theme. We live in a semi-forested area, and we both love nature so it works out well for us! I've also decorated with cute succulent arrangements ranging from dusty-rose color to…

I'm a bit in the middle. I work from home 30 hours a week. This works out very well because I can take care of our home while still making some income. My fiancé is the main bread winner and he pays of the majority of our expenses, but I contribute a certain percentage as well. So it balances well.

You've described how I feel to the T! And I know what you mean about not being able to express these thoughts to people IRL - unfortunately a lot of women don't understand the value of their femininity. I've made comments before to my peers about how I enjoy catering to my fiancé, being feminine and submissive and I was scoffed at. How funny that all these peers are in unhappy, sexless, problematic relationships.

I know exactly what you mean! I'm a very driven and focused person and I can take care of myself, but nothing makes me melt more than laying my head on his chest, wrapped in his arms as he caresses my face.

I love my sensitivity - my natural ability to nurture and mother the ones I love, and at the same time inspire others to do the same for me. I love being delicate, being adored and protected by my beloved, his little rose bud as he calls me. I love my femininity.

I've never had to lie or manipulate to land a relationship. I highly doubt this method get you a long lasting, healthy relationship let alone a quality guy. The kind of men I want to go for are not the ones that are drunk and in a club on a Friday, they are the ones that are working late nights, focused on their careers and family. This method is lazy, honestly. I'm assuming you are quite young - this strategy is more suitable for those 21 and younger who just want someone to fuck regularly. If …

As already mentioned, it's very helpful to create a list - writing things down gives some mental structure for your goals. You should also focus only on what you can at a time; overwhelming yourself will only make you unproductive. You can even prioritize which goals you feel are most important and set a timeline for those that can be achieved later. After you've made a list, it is time to form a game plan or daily routine to help you work towards your current goals. You should aim to have a sim…

Have you experienced painful relationships in your past? Or has he ever violated a boundary in your relationship, or hurt your trust in a severe way? If so it could be possible that you're still reeling in some way. I used to feel the same fears you were speaking of and it took a huge toll on my relationship. It wasn't until then that I realized how traumatic events from my past had affected my views on relationships. I was ruled by negative thoughts and paranoia. Not sure if this is the case fo…

I feel like the attitude and amount of ambition a man has matters a lot as well. When I first met my fiancé he was between jobs and crashing with a friend. I didn't mind his financial state because he seemed to be very hard working and ambitious, and he had clear intentions of turning this issue around. My fiancé does not have a college degree, but does have a strong background in carpentering and manual labor. He took on 3 jobs at once and was able to achieve some big successes at 1 of his comp…

I was recently sick at home for a week; on days 1&2 the fiance did everything around the house (cooking, cleaning) and at first i felt so guilty that after working an 11 hour day he had to take care of me! But thank God he did, it helped me get better faster. For the rest of the week I just slept and maintained the house, cooked breakfast and dinner, the normal. Didn't do any make up but at least did my hair and dressed myself in comfy clothes.... Victoria's secret sweats are a godsend, lol.

"Let love be my sword, kindness my shield." This may seem cheezy but. I have found that when acting out of fear or anger the results are never good. When I have kindness and love in my heart, even for those who make it difficult, I am most at peace. I always try to approach any human being and situation with the utmost integrity and compassion. Even to those who have hurt me the most, who I want to hate, I cannot.

This was a great article. Very inspiring. I'm currently working on strengthening my body; I'm 5'3" 110lbs, and would like to gain a bit more muscle. The SO loves my body as it is, as do I, but thinking about child rearing makes me want to become stronger. I already work out a lot (run 5x a week, yoga 3x a week) but as you can see my workouts don't have much emphasis on strength training. Gonna switch it up a bit starting this week, hopefully I can reach my goal of 115lbs (healthy gains) within a…

Thank you for such a great post! The future hubby has been talking very seriously with me about marriage, and yesterday at a family party I met his grandmother for the first time. When introducing me, he explained to her that I would soon become her granddaughter , and that I would be bearing great grand children to her. He then went on to say to me that a big surprise is coming, and to remain patient because it will be a "dream come true" (this is what we have referred to marriage as on multipl…

This has been a great post, and reading through the commentary has proven to be very insightful even for myself! I've been a stay at home spouse for about a year now, and me and the fiance are marrying in 5 months :) we have had many talks about how we will continue things as we build a life together. I do want to say I can understand why the wife status thing would be concerning - being married would provide a level of security and financial/legal security which is important As a SAH spouse. It…
