I'm pursuing a career in psychiatry, and want to understand more of the changing sexual marketplace with online apps, and I would like to link this to changing rates of depression/anxiety.

I think the bolded words should not be placed at girlfriend, but rather sense of belonging. It doesn't matter if you have a girlfriend, as long as you have a strong social group and positive company, students won't be in depression.

Nah the mods are right, his comment did not add anything productive at all to the conversation,, all he did was criticize him without explaining why....we don't want this sub to devolve into some 10th grade banter.

Beautiful post. Too many people who say this post is irrelevant don't understand the art of introspection and improvement, and yes are probably bad at applying TRP principles in their personal lives.

For some reason, the link doesn't work. Curious to know how they measured preference for facial masculinity. If they did it by survey, how did they eliminate any bias or hamstering?

I'm against the judge here. I know the girl smirked, but stupid judge is acting like she helped the person out by sending her to jail. What country do we live in where just by smirking, you get sent to jail, and waste 1 day of your life (including other people who have to come pick you up, children who may need to be dropped off at school, etc).

Have to join some hobbies or clubs man. Like the guy said above, mountain biking is good, but I'm not sure if many girls do that. You can try dancing classes, martial-art classes, cooking classes, photography classes, etc. Just pick a hobby with a near-even 50/50 boy to girl ratio so you don't look like a creep if you attend a ballet class.

The number of men in this sub who feel the kid was "wronged" by his Dad for "taking" his girl is worrisome. I don't think it's that what people here are complaining about. The dad had sex with the girl, that's fine. This story doesn't sit easy because the dad didn't tell the son he had sex with the girl. A good father would tell his son after 1 or 2 encounters he had sex because he should value his sons mental state over the option of scoring a young girl. Going over a month is a bit excessive.

Did him a favor by letting him ditch the girl. But, who cares about the girl. The real story is why would you fuck your own sons girl and not tell him. I don't care if the dad fucked his sons girl, but not telling him that...that's where there was no favor being done at all.

Also, there have been several posts of controlling Alpha/Beta behaviors like a dimmer-switch. It's important to know when to display alpha qualities, and sometimes tone the alpha qualities down. I don't like using the terminology of turning from an alpha to beta switch, because by definition beta qualities are undesirable.

I think you misinterpreted the intent of OP's post. TLDR: basically don't sweat the small stuff. OP isn't saying accept yourself as the way you are. He's just saying, building confidence requires you to overcome the notion of there being a spotlight on you 24/7, when in fact people and the world could care less.

Bathing? Optional Please don't listen to this. Everyone here, whatever you do, take a shower every day or night. I understand the context is coming from the basic necessities to survive model. I think bathing is necessary to survive as well.

everyday annoyances really drive me up the wall Sounds like you don't know how to control your emotions that well. This is not anger, it's rage. This is not pure and righteous anger the post talked about, it's misplaced anger stemming from your own self.

only comprehend that power if that power is exerted on them. I was at the gym the other day and some skinny Asian guy was benching 45's on each side. Women comes up to the bench and thinks she can outbench him b/c of his perceived external strength. Every gym bro laughed when she dropped the bar on her chest.

I despise the fact that I am not perceived as a sexual being; that I have to game them and shit. Wrong. You are always being perceived as a sexual being, but when you turn on your game, your SMV goes higher. Also, if you hate manipulating others you have to weigh-in on which is more important. The value of the goal achieved through manipulation vs. the act of manipulating others for personal gain. If you feel manipulation is unethical (according to your own personal ethics) then don't.

/r/TheRedPill16/03/15 06:55 PM

Definitely, and if I were a women, you bet I would use my sexuality to gain an advantage. It's up to men to overcome sexual forces and make decisions rationally.

I can give a case where justification can be helpful. In negotiations, when a party wants to make a concession, it has been shown in negotiation journals that justifying the concession makes it more valuable in the eyes of the opposing party. Therefore, by justifying a concession, the other party will realize you sacrificed your own position of power.
/r/TheRedPill09/02/15 11:13 PM
4

This justification technique is used by journalists, lawyers, and interviewers all the time. They want to keep the individual who is being interviewed in a state where he constantly justifies himself, until he makes a mistake.

Same here, been called the 'nice guy' several times throughout my life by both guys and girls. I like being an empathetic individual who cares about others' feelings, but no way is that acceptable for a man in society. Fuck me.

Economics 100. People won't do anything unless there is an incentive. And Bill Gates is too busy fighting malaria in Africa. And there are charities already, but they won't have a national impact unless taxpayers pay. Planned parenthood for example.

Don't know where you grew up, but it's definitely not a status symbol. Reasons why MTV shows like Teen Mom exist is because people feel better about themselves after watching a teen highschooler screw up her life bc she got pregnant.

I disagree with your thought on the pre-existing conditions. By your argument, the individuals in society who have these conditions would not be able to obtain health insurance, and thus no hospital or physicians office would accept them as patients (most clinics want to see their patients have insurance or they will not accept them). With your rational, we would have a bunch of individuals with chronic illness unable to get healthcare simply because insurance industries are too big.

IQ points are not dropping, atleast not in the U.S. I've taken a general psych course, and in the textbook (I'll let you know this is like the 12th edition..where the author updates 1 sentence every year and makes a new book so he can sell it for lucrative amounts of money) it stated that iq points have been increasing for a while. In fact, the iq point has been increasing at a steady rate, so the individuals who design these iq tests have to make new ones very year so that the bell curve will r…

Best thing to do is join an interest group (an organization based on your field of choice) or a fraternity. You'll find both guys and girls. With this route, it will seem like your not joining the organization solely to find a chick to bang. But if your an engineer, the interest group is a bad idea because the guy:girl ratio is too high and all girls in engineering believe there 10's, because there will be a bunch of beta guys that go around helping her w/ her homework and shit.

Meditation usually helps. Meditate at night and in the morning for 20 minutes. In the morning, meditate and say that you will not have any desire for women throughout the day. At night, meditate how many times you felt desire for women throughout the day and think of ways what you would have done differently in that situation to quell your desire if it occurs next time.

Yep, came here to see what a joke this subreddit was. Read some highly upvoted posts, was skeptical at first, but realized that this community places a high emphasis on logical debate. However, I still would like to see more scientific articles being submitted and discussed instead of looking at BP examples.

But it's interesing that she had no concept of what the fox reporter meant when he said he feels like a man when he has responsibility. She could not rationalize pride, she purely saw things from an economic perspective. In other words, she is still a women and cannot think from a mans perspective.

A lot of people here are saying not to use Facebook, but you can use FB as a tool to your advantage just like any other web application. One tip I have is including a professional picture as a profile pic. This will increase your SMV. Internship, research experience, etc. Also, if you know job employers are searching Facebook for potential candidates for hire, you can beef up your professional and unique image via Facebook to truly stand out from other applicants.

I'm not sure if you're exaggerating in your post, but it seems that there are too many variables that correspond to whether or not a person will hold the door open. Similar to the story of the potential executive of a company who was fired simply because he put salt on his food during his recruitment dinner.
