You shouldn't let fear stop you from getting laid. Are allegations something to keep in mind? Absolutely. Should the prospect of them stop you from enjoying life? I guess that answer is up to each person, but I won't let it stop me. I'm 31, so I'm not exactly new at this.

I think you know the answer to that question.

Great post, but I'd include on more thing. In my opinion, massive lifestyle changes are the key to failure. I got serious about getting back to my fighting shape in January, and what I did was make one change every two weeks. First thing I did was to wake up and start running, then lift afterwards. I did this 5 days a week. 2 weeks later I adjusted my diet. I cut out all fried foods and sugary drinks, and started cooking more of my own meals. After that, I started doing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu 5 day…

It depends what you want to do for those companies. Generally the bare minimum is to have a current active security clearance. Myself and most of my friends were infantrymen. When I got out I was offered a contract for 12 months at $115k with a 10% contract completion bonus. But infantrymen usually end up as guards or guard supervisors. To get the fun contracts you usually need to have been combat arms for SOCOM (Ranger Battalion/SF/SEAL) or make connections while working your way up from guard.…

A few of my buddies are actually going through this right now. After the Army they got into security contracting with companies like Blackwater/Academi or Triple Canopy if they were lucky. For a few years they were putting between $175-275k per year with nothing more than a high school diploma. A few of them left contracting and reality hit them. The biggest difference between them and this chick is they went to trade schools or college and developed a new marketable skill. But I guess that's mo…

Half of your post history is you being offended, so for some reason you assume everyone is that easily offended. Most people don't have the thin skin of a teenage girl, though. Now run along, there's other posts that could be offending you out there.

I'm not the OP you were talking to, but I'm another Brazilian Jiu-jitsu advocate. It can benefit anybody, regardless of size. The only people in life that box, are boxers. There's a reason the Army and the Marines have adopted BJJ as their combative model. It's all about taking the fight to the ground and winning it their. Most bjj gyms offer several free lessons as a trial, you should seriously check it out

Cats and dogs serve different purposes. A dog is a loyal companion and best friend, but they are much higher maintenance. Cats are like a friend that can be an asshole sometimes, but most of the time they just want to chill and are pretty low maintenance. I like them both, but dogs are obviously the more masculine choice.

Letting someone rape your date is the least alpha thing you could possibly do. I understand self preservation, but I like to be able to hold my head high and look myself in the mirror at the end of the day.

Honestly, if I were in her shoes I'd have been pretty fucking pissed. I don't mind if my buddies want to fuck around and be dicks. But I have two rules, don't fuck with my food, and don't fuck with me while I'm asleep. Sure, her reaction was a bit childish. But her being pissed, to me, was totally justifiable.

It's that damn internalized racism! Don't worry, Becky from Eugene, OR just got her BA in Womyn's Studies. She'll be by in a few minutes to explain to you why you're a victim. It's nice to get these little breaks of sanity every now and then.

I agree with you. I understand the argument behind white privilege, I get it. But I think privilege has more to do with socioeconomic status than race or religion. My friends wife started lecturing me on white privilege a few months ago. I let her finish before pointing out that she was a doctoral candidate who lived in a beautiful 2 story, 3 bedroom house, while I had to go to war to be able to afford higher education. Some people just want to blame somebody else, or to feel like they triumphed…

The best time to start is yesterday. I started doing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu 2 months ago and every day I wish I'd started years ago. You don't need to be in shape to start, starting will get you into the shape you need to be in. My only real advice is try a few different gyms. The first place I went to felt like Cobra Kai. It was really rigid and strict, I definitely felt like an outsider. The second place I tried was where I stayed. It has an awesome feeling of community, people show up and roll w…

This is why I stick to industries that are male dominated. I cannot stand working with women, and the thought of working for one... you don't need a job change. You need a career change, go to a male dominated industry. I can go to work Monday and tell one of my coworkers to suck a bag of dicks and nobody gives a shit. If somebody is fucking up or not pulling their weight it gets addressed immediately and harshly. There is no hand holding or sugar coating and I love it.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't totally agree. Sometimes people get sick, and it doesn't always require a doctors note. Just the other day I had a 24 hour stomach flu. The only reason I was out of bed was to be in the bathroom. But when I woke up the next morning I was fine. Requiring a doctors note would have wasted a doctors time that could have been better spent on a patient that needed help more. Shit like that doesn't necessarily reflect on a person's work ethic. My whole adult …

I know what you mean, it's not made up Internet points that I'm worried about at all. I enjoy having discussions and debates with people, and I've seen people forming a calm and reasonable argument be outright dismissed because of a post history on TRP. It's not the down votes that would sour the experience, it's that I would have less interesting and engaging discussions.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that I keep an alt account for TRP. One of the quickest ways to have your opinion dismissed in most subs is to have a positive post history here

I don't care for it at all. But it's kind of a check the block, mark your territory thing for me. To each their own and all, I'm just not a huge fan.

You have to be willing to push yourself out of your comfort zone. If you're willing to just say "I'm an introvert, if somebody won't invite me out then it will never happen." Then guess what? It'll never happen. Go join a martial arts gym/academy. Go often. After a few weeks, ask about good local bars. After you get some recommendations as a few guys if they want to go hit a bar with you. The buck stops with you. You are responsible for all of your success, as well as failures in life.

Go to a tech school. I went to one for 6 months, now I'm a skilled tradesman making over $50/hr with a great benefits package. Of the 300 or so students, there were only 3 women. It was awesome.
