Just here to say KEEP THE HOBBY. Walk in there and enjoy it because you don’t deserve to lose that because of his dumb behavior. He will be floored by how confident and comfortable you are and will probably be intimidated.

I dated someone for about a year, went great and we grew apart.

Yeah, holding doors to what? Most single men are too afraid to take a woman on an actual date because they don’t actually know how to handle themselves in any sort of upscale setting. I constantly see guys in restaurants wearing baseball caps and acting like grumpy toddlers while the women they’re with are dressed beautifully and excited to be going somewhere.

My ex husband went to a bar two hours after our daughter was born, while I recovered and cared for her in the hospital alone.

I can’t think of even a handful of single men in their thirties in my town who own a home. Yet when I was dating there was a constant, “ Women date me for my money!” narrative. Laughable!

“Politics” is just another word for values. If I believe food and shelter are human rights, that workers deserve living wages, and that holiday autonomy is important you can bet I will not accept a partner who doesn’t share those values.

100% valid reason the bail. It sounds like he wouldn’t be able to hold his own any any type of sophisticated situation, and he certainly would never prepare a meal at home. Ugh.

Sounds like she contributed way more than 10k to him and his life but he doesn’t think she is worth the same.

Would bet my savings that most of those dudes have cheated before.

I have honestly believed this for a long time. It is rare to find a man who is genuinely romantically interested in a woman he truly respects, finds intelligent, etc. Rare, but they do exist, so don't settle.

But they’ll also be annoyed with you for not doing 100% of the childcare while working full time.

I didn’t when I got married. My ex husband was annoyed. If I marry again in the future I’ll keep my name. I like my name and want to keep it, so if someone wants the same name as me they can take mine.

This guy got married so she could be his cook and maid. Literally no benefits here for this poor woman. What the hell do they think marriage is?

Wow. My marriage explained. This is why my former MIL wanted special hangout time every single Sunday all day with my husband but not his wife and child.

Oh yes. Divorced dads will have the first woman ten years younger move in and immediately take care of the kids.

A coworker of mine had a guy move in to HER house three months after meeting him on Tinder. He has yet to buy her a meal.

The “talking” thing blows my mind. Texting is a literal replacement for dating, and it only benefits the dude.

Oh my god, which is she even considering this? He will own half of it right off the bat without contributing a penny! And when she becomes sick of his bs he will walk away with a profit, which is probably his plan.

Half the time women are literally apologizing for even taking a photo, too. Heaven forbid the family have a visual memory of holidays and trips that a woman planned and executed perfectly.

It's just something men say because they get an adrenaline rush from making a woman change her name.

My daughter has my ex husband's last name and I have never once encountered any of the "issues" people warn of.

I didn't change my name when I got married because I like my name. I'm now divorced and very glad I didn't change it. I'm an advocate for keeping one's own name, but I understand some folks may want to take a partner's name if they have negative associations with their own families. I also think it's really telling that men are unwilling to change their own last names but feel strongly about women changing theirs.

I work in a salon, and a coworker had some of those fake $100 bills and she left one folded up on the lobby floor. We decided to just observe what happened. Over the next week, every single woman who noticed it immediately brought it to my desk, concerned that someone had lost their cash. Every single man who noticed the bill quietly pocketed it and tipped poorly. I watched several guys take the bill and literally tip one dollar for their haircut. Men in general tip far less than our woman clien…

Follow @gocleanco on Instagram. They do demos, have a pdf handbook, and show how to clean every single thing. Basically just clean your surfaces. Every surface.

By staying with this person she and the guy are teaching that little girl how she deserves to be spoken to. She pulled the child aside and made an excuse for him? Unbelievable. “Daddy is allowed to abuse you because he is uncomfortable. You aren’t worth speaking to kindly.” She won’t forget this lesson.

My ex husband was on his phone most of the time during our counseling sessions, and our therapist demanded he stop. After a few weeks she suggested I consider divorce.

She obviously hasn't researched alcoholism at all. Different levels? Alcoholism doesn't get better or even stay the same. I'd put money on him secretly drinking from now on.

This guy is obviously a severe alcoholic. They had to make an agreement that he wouldn't touch the couch when drinking? Even a puppy learns not to pee inside.

“Last minute dates” UGH. He literally means he’s not going to hang out unless he can’t find a “better” option. Along with all the other BS, of course. What a selfish idiot.

After you answer the initial question, tell them to call the store with any other questions. Make sure to include a goodbye in the message.

Uh, he should also be asking how to tell a potential partner that he's opposed to traveling. What a boring idiot.

Aside from all the usual life lessons about self worth and independence, my daughter is taken on outings to nice restaurants, etc, to normalize being treated that way. Firstly, she should expect a date to make an effort. Secondly, she should not fall all over herself for the first person to pay for a meal at a place that uses tablecloths.

So he wants to live like this but he also feels entitled to sex from women? Same old story.

I have not read a book written by a man since college. I didn’t do it on purpose but I’ll keep the streak going. Men are alarmed by this but they can’t even name a woman author when pressed.

Blue collar lady here. I’m a homeowner with an IRA and financial stability. Why on earth it is women’s fault of this dude can’t get his shot together?

She had to text him to remind him to pick up his own child.

I noticed that too. He didn’t call her immediately to discuss the schedule change because he WANTED a conflict.

My ex husband used to pull this shit ALL the time, showing up late specifically when he knew I had an event or trip that I planned because I was not scheduled to have parenting time then. I missed my god daughter’s graduation because of this - it’s not accident. This guy is whining because his plan to ruin her event backfired.

Literally same. And I do very little housework now in my own home (even with a preteen running around) compared to when I was married because I’m not cleaning up the beer bottles and dirty underwear of a grown man.

I was so horrified by this post. One commenter suggested buying him a flip phone because the smart phone is obviously the problem.

I recently had my first experience with a trauma-informed, women-first OB/Nurse Midwife for my yearly exam. She didn't use stirrups, asked if I was comfortable having the exam, explained that I could stop or pause at any time, and did a ton of other stuff to make me comfortable. It was both so great and so simple - why doesn't every doctor keep these things in mind? My heart aches for women who aren't given agency at doctor visits (if they can access proper care at all. )

Why did it take me so long to realize that women in their thirties don’t share crappy apartments with two or more friends and doing nothing of worth? Yet in my area this is extremely common for men.

Pop Culture Happy Hour (podcast) has such a great episode about all the themes in this movie. Watch it before listening, though!

This breaks my heart. This is the woman he vowed to cherish in front of friends and family? He deserves to feel bad. Worst of all, she's worried about invalidating HIS feelings?

I am in my 30s. My investments are in an IRA managed by a qualified financial advisor because I have long term financial goals. My peers invest in similar ways. Hopping on a bandwagon with a bunch of college aged men who are playing games on their phones isn't my stride. Women are investing, but in smart ways that will stabilize their futures.

I agree. A long time ago a friend told me, "Men just don't love the way women love. They can't understand love the way a woman does."
