That has nothing to do with being a respectful person. I make 200k+ and manage a team of 23 corporate workers. Not once have I been deliberately disrespectful to someone unless the situation got out of hand. Trying to be "alpha" by disrespecting others is desperate.

I am of the opinion that it does matter. But expectations should probably be set practically, if you want an LTR. Depending on location, age and social fabric.
