I had a similar experience and was a mess. Focus on holding yourself together. You need to be physically and mentally active. I was in therapy 2 years and it helped me understand myself and the need to always move forward. I graduated from therapy when I started have fun again. If you make the effort you can recover.

Your wife does not sound like a loving mother. Get divorced and get 50:50 custody. Create a loving organized home for them and they will do well.

Initially, I joined Meet Up groups to socialize. I work on my house and older cars. Group bike rides and skiing also help. I have also spent time shooting targets at the range. Working on my job a lot is good for the finances. After a while, I recovered, and women became a hobby. Pursue what occupies your mind and provides smiles. Another thing, is you have think ahead and plan things or else you end up at home.

You need a lawyer to deal with the described issues. Divorce lawyers offer free consultations. Talk to a few and get an idea of costs. You have been abandoned, so going to court seems appropriate, but costs more than other options.

Dude-I feel your anguish. No one cares why you got divorced as it is common. I had a similar situation. Wondered what was going on. It turned out that XW had an affair with a co-worker. Knowing that hurt, but I moved on and am enjoying life! You can make this change and come out of it feeling great. Good luck!

Sorry that you are dealing with these issues. Lawyer up and move on! Divorce is a legal separation of assets and belongings. Advocate for yourself and kids. Take control of the situation as she cannot be trusted. Maximize your share of marital assets. Things do work out over time.

Folks are often fakes and evil to the core! It is a difficult lesson to learn. You have learned the lesson , so lawyer up and self advocate!

It all depends on your mind set. I have dated red flag ridden ladies. I have had fun with them, but always knew that things were short-term. If there is mutual attraction enjoy it, but don't commit to anything. Just define internally what you are willing to tolerate and move on when they cross the line.

Everything is about the present and future. Do not harp on the past while being sensual. She has a past, and ya don't want to churn up buried negative emotions.

Once you decide to get divorced and tell your spouse you become legal opponents. Things could get nasty. You endure the legal separation, deal with some major changes, and in a few years you feel better. Not easy but worth the work. You need to be ready for different types of spousal behavior. The dating while divorced is a roller coaster. Be sure to have your network of support people and be emotionally ready. Good luck

Therapy helped me leave a bad marriage and enabled me to kick ass in aspects of life. In therapy people learn that Narcs don't change, and all you can do is leave a Narc.

People go to therapy because they are unhappy and need to learn about themselves. Once they learn why they behave or tolerate certain things in relationships they make mindset changes. If they are unhappy, and conclude that their partner will not evolve with them, they end relationships.

Dude-Sorry about your situation. It will take a while to adjust. Take the alone time to work on yourself. Smile inducing fun will balance your being alone. I exercised a ton and took care of my needs. I also talked about my situation with some close friends. Working with a therapist on a weekly basis helped me understand things and will enable you to manage your new reality. You need to develop tools to control your brain and set boundaries to manage the X.

Feeling great two years out. The stress has receded, but there are still lingering impacts of the toxicity. Yet, all gets better with time. Ya gotta make the effort to create and enjoy to good vibes.

I was in a similar situation when my kids were young. I stayed and ran aground. I departed when my health was seriously impacted and could no longer do my job. Toxicity will drain your body and mind. Two years later all is great...... You have to leave because your health is already suffering and chronic toxic stress is debilitating. You need to be healthy to care for your daughter. Your daughter will suffer if she lives will all the toxicity. You have to be healthy to be a healthy role model fo…

Good luck! My first months alone involved some PTSD and massive stress. If your stressed, exercise helps a ton. Talking to friends or a therapist also helps let out the angst. It will take time, but it will get better.

Please go see a lawyer-many offer free consults. The court will divide marital property, and the car is marital property. The kids are yours and hers, so again go-see a lawyer. Thanks for your service!

If you were married for a long-time and end up living a lone, it can be lonely. Yet over time, if you make an effort to move forward, you adjust. I do miss the concept of having a partner. Yet, the reality is I am better off doing my own thing, and not getting manipulated or verbally abused.

Mangrove43-Sorry about your situation. My X is a Narc, so I understand. There is only so much toxicity that a person can handle.

I have no experience with co-parenting. Yet, I had an abusive Xwife, who I blocked. Your X is fucking with you. She knocks you back and gets control. Then you respond and she feels good. I suggest you set up an email or phone account for just your wife. Only read her messages and respond to them when absolutely necessary. You have to ignore the insults and accusations. Just deal with the details of co-parenting. You have to be a good co-parent. Tell her you are saving the insulting emails and wi…

I was married 29 years. The last 15 were horrible. Needed to be in the house with my kids. Being 2-years out of the divorce, I feel great. I agree will all the other posters about being single and happy. My only act of revenge is to be leading a happy and fulfilling life.

Dude-File now. Relationships change after marriage and/or having kids. Try to figure out if your wife has a personality disorder. Is there something from your childhood that would make you tolerate her behavior? Try to figure out if your are attracted to mentally ill people. My eX was a covert Narc and got bored easily. She loved to travel to fill her mental void. She always felt entitled to whatever she wanted, and was never happy. I was controlled by her unhappiness and attempted to accommodat…

Commander-Sounds like a shitty situation. My sympathies. I am in a similar place on a smaller scale. Divorce is a legal proceeding to divide assets and custody. Use your lawyer and a mediator and try to emotionally detach yourself from the crazy women. Try ignore the threats. In time this will work out.
