That's silly, they're different crimes. They are different crimes. But IMO the crime of trying to ruin someone else's life by getting them punished for a crime they didn't do, is actually a more evil intent than if the person had done the crime. It is perhaps the most heinous perversion of justice and should be let off so easily.

If you read the article, the judge said it was unfair, but he still applied the law as it was written. In other words, he gave verbal recognition to the hardship she faced, but still didn't give her any extra legal standing for being a woman. Good on the judge, I say.
