I'm also 5'5" and I've never experienced anything like that. I even occasionally get compliments on my appearance from women. The only "you're short" comments I've gotten were from other guys. I'm a 130lb white guy with wavy brown hair, blue eyes, reddish stubble beard, decently muscular frame, and facial features similar to Elijah Wood.

BMI is flawed because of variability in muscle mass at the same BMI. A BMI of 24 with 10-12% body fat (jacked) looks way different than a BMI of 24 with 25-28% body fat (skinny fat blob)

5'5" guy here. It's definitely still a negative factor and it reduces your potential pool but it's nowhere near the death sentence it's made out to be online. For most girls it's a negative but not a deal breaker if the rest of your shit is together.

This makes me feel a bit better. Whenever I post a picture 2-3 gay guys send me DM's. Strangely it's a few more when I included my height (5'5"). One time in college I was playing some 12 bar blues in G on my stratocaster with a mini amp in the commons area and these two cute girls approached me and started talking to me. Get a gym membership and start lifting weights. Do 3 days a week alternating between a benchpress/squat/barbell row day and an overhead press/deadlift day. Go for 5 sets of 5 reps and start with whatever weight you're comfortable with and aim to add 5lbs to the bar each day. Make sure to eat a calorie surplus of about 500cal over maintenance. You should start adding muscle mass pretty quickly.

I have high functioning autism and I'm 5'5". The only girl I got close to in a romantic way was also autistic and we seemed to just 'get' each other but we met at a summer camp and lived 300 miles away from each other so it didn't work out.

My main problem is getting over how I'm 5'5". I also have a prosthetic left eye due to losing it in an accident when I was three that looks like a lazy eye but other than that I have a good enough face that I occasionally get compliments on it and am in pretty good shape with decent muscle definition. I also have been trying to find another band to join since my last one that I played bass in broke up when Covid happened.

Lifting weights has improved my posture a lot. My drivers license says I’m 5’2” because at 16 I had such a bad Gamer(tm) slouch that I stood at 2in shorter than now. Also the muscle gains have helped me have a presence in a room about equal with guys that are 4-8inches taller than me. Also wearing either AirMaxes or work boots help.

Assuming attraction is one of my biggest struggles because I’m 5’4” and end up thinking that they aren’t attracted to me because I’m so much shorter their other options. I know consciously that I should stop caring about it and just assume attraction because almost everything else is in my favor or neutral but doing so is extremely difficult.
