Let's not forget Sean Connery, who everyone is busy fawning over since he died. Was known to abuse his first wife and openly said - in a tv interview, no less - that it was ok to slap the wife around occasionally. It nearly makes me wretch every time someone says what a "great guy/actor" he was. How do these guys get let off the hook, every effing time?

As GTB says, don't take on any of that shame. It says everything about him and nothing about you. I'm very sorry you had to endure that, especially on your birthday, his actions reflect nothing on you. (Virtual hug).

Came here to say this :)

Preach sister. The brand of 'empowerment' the younger ladies were sold is a crock of shite, imo.

Me too! Yep and we're still upholding our standards, hahaha

LOL, that is gold. When I was much younger (I'm a Gen-X elder) us girls did have each others back. I often wonder where that got derailed. Let's make it happen again!

Just popped over there to see if I was subscribed and the top post is asking for new mods. Wonder if they've decided to clean up their act. A girl can only hope. Sigh.

A long time ago someone said to me that when a couple gets married, the woman expects the man to change (he doesn't) and the man expects the woman to stay the same (she doesn't). That really stuck with me, for good or bad.

Not my problem I apply that a lot in my life, work and personal. I'm a fixer so people expect it of me but, nope, NPM... To extend this, I've had a few losers have a go at me recently for being a FDS member. In my mind, it just boils down to, if you have a problem with women setting boundaries, then that is YOUR problem, so suck it. Helps to brush off the (conditioned into women) urge to acquiesce. SO freeing & highly recommended :)

I see where you're coming from and I certainly do not in any way want to increase the levels of violent assault but I think it's going to happen anyway and, if we stay quiet, then we're letting them win. Mostly it's about control of women, from religion to authoritarianism/fascism, so if we're going to lose either way we may as well go down fighting.

Thanks for the heads up on said.it. I've just joined in the hope it's less toxic than reddit. PS. Love FDS even though I've been attacked a couple of times on here for being a member. As if I care what the misogynists think.

Brilliant! I've often wondered why women don't do this worldwide (and/or a general strike) to break the patriarchy altogether. I understand this happened in India once and it made a huge difference. I reckon it'd take us about 24 hours to bring that shit down, imo. We have so few powers but this would really show who does the heavy lifting in our society. I'd be happy to lead the movement and pick a date. My only worry is the pikmeishas would undermine it.

it started with the love bombing... it always does, doesn't it? You just confirmed what I'd suspected, too, that your initial story was just the tip of the iceberg. Agree, totally, that the more we talk about this BS the more the younger gals will take heed. The worst part is the perpetuation (not to mention taking advantage of) your childhood trauma. Hugs from an internet stranger because we've all been there, sadly. If it helps at all, I now see all people in one of two camps. There are those …

I'm in Australia and I'm crying, too. I'm so sorry for what has become of the U.S. (and sadly here, too) but eff me if this didn't get me right in the feels. R.I.P. Roe v. Wade. Vale RBG.

Lordy, lordy, that was quite a ride. The best I can say is maybe this is a lesson we can all learn from. But, seriously, hope you're thriving now and can laugh about this... one day.

My mum bailed with two kids under two (from her first husband, not my father) in the 60's and I give her full respect for that.

Control is what they want. Control. Not self-control, mind you, just control of us.

Yeah and even then it was mostly aimed at the gay community.

Yep, most of them are disgusting. Maybe I've become too cynical but it seems to me all the good ones are married or gay. The former may well have some redeeming features but I'll never know because I'd never choose them from their profile pic. It's also a matter of self-respect for me. I work on myself, as any person with a decent sense of self-worth does, so the appearance of these guys scream 'no self-respect' to me.

Just imagine that leaning in for a kiss. Ooof, no thanks hahaha. But you're so right and the old double standard still persists. Sigh.

men making candy by hand with their pecs clearly showing through their arpons Ooooh I'd like to see that lol Yeah, it's almost like it's all about controlling us and our sexuality while pretending that they can't control their carnal urges because, ya know... men are thereby entitled to objectify us, isn't it?

This is why I can't bear to do the online dating thing. I'm in an, ahem, older age bracket and the men my age are there looking like shit , wearing their wife-beater, with a stubby (beer) in their hand in front of a sad-arse tinny (ie., small boat). Like, seriously guys, who is that going to attract? I almost feel sorry for them. Eeeeuw. Plus, who gets to that age in life without learning to dress themselves properly. (Pardon my translations, I'm not American).

I often wonder, also, if given the amount of female secondary sexual features (boobs) on display all around us - billboards, ads, social media - if they're just not being fed a continual visual diet of sex and being led by their penis. Whereas, when was the last time you saw a hot male bod in an ad? Sorry for the weird description my words aren't working too good today ;P

Ahhh, that makes sense now. I'd be happy to supply them with a book, "Why Women Are Blamed for Everything" by one of my favourite tweeters, Dr. Jessica Taylor. She's English but this book is spot on. PS There's already been enormous pushback on her... Oh, the Irony.

I have a theory that people who are angry are primarily angry at themselves. So this just makes me wonder why they hate themselves so much... although reading those comments made me hate them so maybe that's the clue.

Yeah, I didn't go full Karen with my comment, just pointed out that every human has the right to draw the line where they want. Then I noped out of there. My comment is probably downvoted to hell by now but I unsubbed so I'll not be returning anytime soon.

I didn't know that but I guess I do now. That was the first time I'd seen that happen there. I mean, it is meant to be an unpopular opinion and, therefore, edgy but that was outright BS. Oh well, one less sub to read. I'd really like to speak some of these guys once they're older to see if their opinion changes because I suspect most are quite young. But then again, maybe not.

Was that in r/unpopularopinion today? I saw they were shitting on this sub earlier. If so, yes, it's easier to drag women than suffer a bit of self-examination, isn't it. Poor little babies. /s

No, sorry, I was referring to someone who had either never stopped living at home or had kids who have no intention of moving out of home (seems to be a thing these days). I find my self facing the same dilemna as you as my Mum ages and realise I will probably be in that position one day, too. My two conditions, above, really speak to a person's ability to be a responsible adult or parent. If you're willing to take in an elderly parent, or house a special needs child, that speaks volumes about y…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/08/20 02:46 AM

Totally. I have 3 rules: Must be employed. It's ok to earn less than me but it shows responsibility. Can't live with his parents/children. I'm old enough that an appropriately aged man's children would be full grown. Has to have a car. A grown ass adult should have a means of transport. If he meets these criteria, then we can get down to specifics but that's my absolute minimum.

When I travel I always end up homesick, no matter how good the destination/holiday is. When I analysed the reason it was because I was craving home-cooked food. Just plain old boring food.

What I hate about the 'men are visual' bs is does that mean they're the only ones with eyes? More fool me, those must be secondary nostrils or something on my face. Sigh.
