That's what I said it my later comment, but nonetheless you'd also be a fool to completely disregard what other people think. No don't build your whole life around women, but consider what they're attracted to. There's an obvious middle ground there.

Oh I agree, and I don't think being comically masculine is a good thing either, it's important for a man to have some traits that would be considered feminine, basically it's all about being well rounded.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/25 07:37 PM

What do you mean? Straight women are still attracted to the traditionally masculine traits for the most part. Even if we reject traditional gender roles wholesale that doesn't change what women are attracted to. If a guy is looking to attract women it probably wouldn't be in his best interest to reject convention. I don't have any negative feelings towards people that do want to defy traditional roles, if they want to live their life like that, but for a man interested in women it's not the best…

Here's the thing. It doesn't matter how culturally constructed masculinity is because people still believe in the construction. Even if a man wanted to be feminine that wouldn't matter because women don't usually find extremely feminine men attractive. It would severely impact his chance of success dating straight women.

He fumbled so bad. Odds are him and Lauren will be divorced in a few years too, celebrities and billionaires just don't live by the same morals as us.

That and there's different ways to express emotions, yelling and screaming is received differently than calmly telling your partner how you feel. That said I do think there's something to the idea that men who cry are perceived as less attractive to women, because the idea that men should be masculine is subconsciously ingrained in women as much as it is in men. It kind of depends on what you mean by "showing emotions".
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/25 12:30 AM

Yup, I could still see it happening. In that scenario it gets trickier but I do think that it's extremely rare and in most cases just the result of one not knowing who they're sleeping with.

Right, it's hard to imagine that kind of situation happening to a man in a healthy monogamous relationship. It's far more likely to happen to a guy who's having one night stands with women he doesn't even like or know. Which would probably be the manosphere or pickup artist type, and the type of women who are likely to participate in one night stands are liberal women who are pro choice.

The idea that Women have a hardwired attraction to dominant men isn't even conservatism, it's more like evolutionary psychology or something like that. Just because conservatives happen to hold that belief because it's old, doesn't make that belief is essentially conservative.

Girlfriend material only lol. How can people have a girlfriend who they don't intend to marry? That mentality is odd to me, even casual sex seems more acceptable to me, than a casual girlfriend.

I think that's a relative thing. Women are visual but not to the same extent as men, and chadfishing doesn't really prove anything substantial. I think there's a massive gap between dating apps and real life for various reasons. They attract a certain type of women. (Women who want to stroke their own ego) They attract a certain type of man. (Men who are starved of female attention) They're based on judging people by only a few pictures. Which isn't the same as a dynamic interaction where attrac…

Honestly, yeah one think I can definitely agree on. The devaluation of marriage and having kids is disastrous. I don't necessarily think women have to, but I don't see why they don't want to. For me that's still the ideal, but it's seeming unlikely now.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/25 03:00 AM

Yeah people not understanding that others didn't grow up in the same environment as them.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/25 05:18 PM

I feel like that heavily depends on what environment you were brought up in. Not everyone is told the importance of looks from a young age, so when they actually do realize it, they feel like they've been lied to. It may seem like common sense in hindsight, but I don't think that does justice to how much environment shapes perception.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/25 04:55 PM
1

Eh depends on the environment you were brought up in my parents separated at a young age so I spent a lot of time with my mom, who likes to preach that 'everyone is beautiful' it took a minute for me to realize being nice, or a good person isn't all that matters.

There's a difference between hedonism and excessive indulgence. It's about hitting that midpoint between excess and deficiency.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/25 03:51 PM
1

With a partner that you actually care about, sure. Otherwise seems just like mindless hedonism. I still wouldn't say it's a requirement though for a happy life though.

Seems like we fundamentally disagree. If ethical egoism works for you that's fine. I can't force you to live in a specific way, but it just seems like our core values are in conflict and so neither one of us will budge. I see the validity of your position though. I have at times in my past gravitated towards egoism myself.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 06:38 PM

If you're only pursuing what feels good for you right now, you're going to feel like shit long term. I'm more so criticizing the caving to temptation constantly, not pursuing ones own interests, which isn't a bad thing as long as you don't go overboard.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 04:32 PM

Pantheism counts. In fact those 'spiritual but not religious' types are often pantheistic. Anyways my main complaint was that people are getting stuck in their own egos and focus solely on pursuing pleasure and satisfying their own needs, this is ok when kept to a minimum, but they have no aspirations or desires to help the greater whole which they are a part. They don't believe in anything other than themselves. You could be a secular humanist, at least they care about the greater good of human…

Why what? You've gotta be more specific than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 09:39 PM
2

If you're asking whether spiritually ought to be based exclusively on Christian God, then no I don't think so. Its just belief in and commitment to something greater than oneself. It could be a personal god or impersonal ultimate reality such as Brahman. It doesn't even necessarily have to be part of an organized religion.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 09:38 PM

Also what? My parents never even married, and have been separated since me and my brother were very little. What do you know about me?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 08:33 PM

I never did and I am not. By caving I meant jerking off all of the time and watching porn. Not sleeping with random people I don't even know.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 08:19 PM
1

Not sure why you would think that. It's part of human nature and so applies universally. I'm not saying you should be a prude, but indulging constantly is another thing. It's about finding the 'golden mean' between excess and deficiency.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 05:04 AM
3

I admitted that in my initial comment. Most people are like that and go after what feels good, not what is good, our 'animal instincts' are still something that I believe ought to be kept in check. Definitely not caved to all of the time, but yes it's not like I'm perfect and don't cave sometimes.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 04:43 AM

Spot on, is having moral and spiritual values that go beyond just hedonism and pleasure seeking really that hard to understand? I don't want to live that life anymore. Although to be honest I did want to at one point.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 04:22 AM

The same thing that you just advocated that women should do, but no I genuinely believe that it's just playing into our lower nature. Men sleeping with multiple women is not something I want either since that just perpetuates the cycle.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 04:08 AM
-3

I agree that it's human nature and that most men would be doing the same thing in womens position, with that said, that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing. It's a spiritually dead lifestyle, and both men and women are guilty of living it, or at least men would if we could but it's not even something that should be wanted.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/25 03:48 AM
1

Well you're not exactly wrong about that lol. The problem with newer waves of feminism is that what they're fighting for is more abstract, and so how do you tell when your goal has been reached? Practically anything can be perceived as oppression if you look hard enough. To a hammer everything looks like a nail and all that.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/25 11:56 PM
1

You got this from one comment? Lol bro, plus I was in a better mood when I made that comment. Quite frankly, I don't see much problem with traditional gender roles, but I can at least see why not all women would want to play that part. Never said men didn't also deal with problems in fact being a man I know our situation is arguably worse but you don't get anywhere by pointing the finger and blaming women for everything.

/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/25 06:17 PM

"For all the other woman that claim to want gender roles gone but still expect men to pay for a date, it's just the natural desire of wanting the good without the bad." I agree it's more of a human thing than a women thing. That said I think this mentality ought to be transcended. The fact that it's normal for people to behave like this doesn't necessarily make it good, and this mentality seems to be getting worse especially with the advent of dating sites.

Set little goals for yourself like saying hi, this will help you get those small wins then gradually build up from there. Do this and meditate. Meditation is a skill that helps you calm down, and just focus on what's happening, this is crucial for talking to women as your mind isn't racing, thinking about what to say. You just speak automatically.

The majority of the government is comprised of men. Idk how you could blame women for society's collapse, if anything I'd say that's more of a symptom than the cause.

You can't always get what you want 🎶
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/25 07:22 PM

There's definitely downsides to it, but it needs to be. What I meant by free from the patriarchy is that women shouldn't have to be housewives if they don't want to, just because it's "in their nature" or whatever. Not saying that you can't have a housewife, it just shouldn't be expected of all women.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/25 04:40 PM
16

As long as they recognize that they probably won't get someone who meets all of their expectations then it's fine to have an ideal but I don't know if that's very common for people to recognize that.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/25 04:19 PM

People should just be. The problem is they think they need to get things like a relationship, then they'll be happy. There's nothing wrong with wanting those things the problem is they think they NEED it, and their whole self worth is tied into it so if they don't have it they're miserable.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/25 04:44 AM

Well y'know being less dependent on men, and it's true that women were kind of seen as sidekicks to men for most of history until very recently. We built society yes, but we also told women that they couldn't.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/25 04:24 AM
2

Do women on here actually dispute that though, or are they just disputing that it's a general rule?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/25 04:30 PM

I agree that it's not the women's fault, but at the same time this would seem to show that 'the wall' is real. Although it has to do with the man being shallow.

Eh I'd say most purple pill debate comments are somewhere in the middle of those extremes, hence why they're controversial. I wouldn't say they're blatantly misogynistic like the second example, although PPD women tend to reply as if they are from what I've seen.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/25 02:38 AM

So we're just going to disregard future generations? I get what your saying it can be tough to care about a society that doesn't seem to care about us, but that line of thinking got us into this mess. We've gotta break the cycle.

Nah you're right that they intersect, for me the biology is separate although can and often does influence, gender roles. I disagree with your last paragraph particularly that we're more different than similar.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/04/25 02:48 AM
1

I never said anything about erasing, just that we ought to have some consistency, but anyways. "These ontological differences are a big part of what guides attraction and social dynamics." They aren't ontological, they're biological differences. I'm interested to hear how you think they're ontological.

Also I believe it's autism that people had in mind not ADHD. I have ADHD too and it doesn't really hurt your ability to read social queues, unless you're just not paying attention.

It's not that being on the spectrum alone would make people believe this stuff, it's just that being on the spectrum, one would struggle in human interactions and therefore dating, causing them to seek out advice until they eventually find themselves in black or red pill spaces, but neurodivergence is not directly causing black pill beliefs. It's more indirect.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/25 05:19 AM

Worth it. There's nothing good about being well adjusted in a sick society.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 05:05 PM

Rich and powerful vs not rich and powerful. The same rules don't apply to the average man unfortunately. In fact the average man faces harsher sentences for the same crimes as women. I think this would serve to back up his argument that men are generally seen as hyper responsible for their actions.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/25 04:45 PM

This is the biggest, maybe the only criticism I have. Wanting to be free of the patriarchy is understandable, but you can't also expect your man to be 'better' than you in so many ways if that's the case. It's incoherent.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/25 04:32 PM

There is nothing you can actually do to make a woman happy. A woman's garden of eden is always something other than she currently has and when she gets what she wants, she will look to escape that in due course. To be fair, I think this is a fact of human nature. Most people in general will never be content because they think they need something else to be happy. It's not exclusively a women thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/25 04:25 PM
1

True, people just need to read carefully and a lot of these misunderstandings could be avoided. Most of the time people are just talking past each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/25 03:55 AM

In reality, most people are on a similar level of physical attractiveness very rarely is the average guy competing against a Chad. They're competing against other average looking men.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/25 03:29 PM

This is a huge problem, people not realizing that humans are complicated and have many different preferences, some that are in conflict with one another. Things are much different in practice, than they are on paper.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/25 03:11 PM

The Red Pill is mainstream now, even incel terms like "looksmaxing"have started to drop into the mainstream. A decade ago this would've been true, but not anymore.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/04/25 04:36 PM

Disagree, I've helped people who aren't my immediate family although I kinda wish I didn't because I got screwed, but at the time it felt like it was the right thing to do. I don't really regret helping strangers, I just regret helping those two people specifically.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/25 05:37 AM

Yeah that's bullshit, if a man wants a traditional wife then he needs to make all the money. That would only be fair. That's kind of why I don't think traditional roles are doable in modern times unless the man is making 100k or more.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/25 05:14 PM

There's whole books written by women, about how they don't like that role, which are insanely popular, 'The feminine mystique' iirc. So it's not true that only men complain, men complain when they're expected to provide everything and the other role isn't fulfilled.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/25 05:00 PM

This, looks aren't everything, maybe not even the most important thing, but they are the first thing. Looks determine whether she would date you or not, yes or no. Beyond that, degree of attractiveness matters less.

There's always exceptions, but do the exceptions really disprove the rule? Still it's hard to formulate general principles like that because of how complex the world is. A lot of people on this sub make the mistake of thinking the world can be broken down into a few simple rules. It's vastly more complicated.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 04:21 AM

You're right that it's a cope. Physically a man isn't going to age any better than a women unless he takes care of himself, but that has more to do with the taking care of himself part, not the being a man part.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 04:07 AM
1

It depends on what kind of guy you were in a relationship with, if he's conservative and he believes in traditional gender roles then he should pay for it all, since he probably believes in the traditional setup . A liberal man should expect an even split though, it depends on if splitting the bill fits with his overall dating worldview. The above principle stated in my other comment applies to men as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 05:26 AM
1

most women don’t describe themselves as feminists That seems accurate, most women aren't but I'm saying the one's who are, and the one's who don't believe in traditional gender roles should pursue more. It would be in line with their core beliefs, since the whole man asking a women out idea is patriarchal. the issue with this “gotcha” men always pull is that, gender roles are still reinforced in heterosexual relationships regardless because men think “equality” in relationships solely extends to…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 05:18 AM
2

Agree with that, I'm referring to the women that are against traditional gender roles, whichever groups, or subgroups they may be, they should pursue more. The women who are for the more traditional setup can play the passive role if they want. The only thing I ask for is consistency of belief. As long as people aren't saying one thing, and then contradicting when it no longer benefits them I'm cool. Not that I think a women should or shouldn't pursue, I'd be fine with either just that it should…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 04:47 AM
7

But doesn't a man doing the chasing just reinforce traditional gender roles which women don't like, or at least feminist women don't? This is my biggest issue. A lot of the time traditional roles are reinforced, only when it's convenient, but if we take equality as sameness seriously women should be pursuing as much as men.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 05:13 PM

They definitely do, look no further than the fact that the incel subreddits are banned and their female counterparts are still running. Thats basically an empirical fact that, at least on reddit misandry is tolerated.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/25 01:09 AM

I can get behind that idea, although I don't think being committed to something beyond ourselves necessarily means we should join the Feminist movement. In fact you could argue that it harms men at this point. Still OP is being a bit egoistical. You don't necessarily have to get something out of it, to do it. Things are bigger than ourselves. Also that part about Feminists being against porn wasn't really a good point in my eyes. That stuff wrecks your brain, and perception of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 07:14 AM

It's a fact that close relationships with others improve mental and physical wellbeing. This applies to all relationships but I imagine romantic relationships especially create a new kind of confidence. What you call codependency just seems like normal bonding.
