I'll be able to move in a few years. I don't hate the city, but it has its challenges. It is definitely unnerving to have homeless crackheads confront you every other day.

That's not what was said in the video. You're attacking a strawman in nearly every single one of your comments in this post. And at the risk of being pedantic, yes, that does have a positive connotation. "Some already are" compares the regular man to those who have the traits of Gillette's "ideal man". "Not all men are like that" compares the regular man to the dregs of society.

Well, ultimately, unless I intervene physically, I can't control anyone. Bad behavior is subjective, and you and I could debate all night about that if we so choose. I hate to do say this, but it really depends on the context of the situation before I make a judgement. There are just too many variables. Even laws that we find universal (do not murder, do not steal) are challenged everyday. I simply made a blanket statement in my comment, which is something I usually try to not do. I cannot answe…

Fair enough. I meant for my arguments to clarify my point about facts not being racist. To say that you shouldn't spout out facts which may be perceived as racist in front of black people. That really doesn't matter though, it still applies here. In this current political and societal climate, I do think it is right to call out any bad behaviors, regardless of gender. I think the message was mostly positive, but my opinion doesn't trump all, and it can't change what others think.

In the video it has a more positive connotation ("some already are"). I interpreted it differently than others. I thought it was said in a more positive way, and while I still do think that, I can definitely see why people dislike the ad.

To me, the main difference is that it doesn't acknowledge the other side (the "not all men are like that") and that it only focuses on one aspect of the story. The Gillette ad takes extreme examples, yes, but it also gives simple things that make the world better, like the father telling her daughter that she is strong, or the guy who helps a kid who is getting bullied.

Not really. I don't think facts are racist, as they are true and have no bias. But there is a time and place for things. There also is a difference in how you say it. I do understand your point, though.

Ok. That is a very thought-provoking question. I see where this is all coming from now. I guess my answer would be call out bad behavior when ever I see or hear of it, regardless of gender. As I fellow human I believe I have that right, but I can't control the other person. Thanks.

Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. I see it as not an excuse to rag on men, but to say that we can be better as humans no matter what gender (although focusing on men because they are the consumers). Which is something that everyone can work on. Maybe the ad would have landed better if they focused on humans, regardless of gender.
