Yes they should, but these types of crime don't only happen in dangerous areas. Unfortunately we also don't have the numbers of police available. Formal education systems don't seem to help much. Remember the old anti-rape campaigns on the radio/tv? I should imagine primary sources of socialisation likely have a lot to answer for as well. I never said that it wasn't sexist, or that I agreed with it, just that that was the general direction of their argument.

To be fair a lot of the 'this is a brotherhood issue' has been about prevention (which in this context doesn't seem to work). For the kinds of crimes the feminists are talking about the police and legal system are only punitive, not preventative. Which can sometimes be too late.

Their argument seems to be about raising boys to respect women as equals (as my parents did). However education doesn't stop a predator from killing its prey.
