2	I am a slave. Everyone has their own path. Personally, I’ve not really got a huge amount of interest in owning things or being independent. I like other people, and they are what are important to me. I’m not going to miss out on love and companionship because I might lose everything. Life is a series of risks. Just because men have issues that should be addressed, that doesn’t mean we should pretend that women don’t suffer from any number of other issues. I don’t understand why it has to be a competition to see who has it worse. I can only speak for myself, but I was lucky enough to have a child after the UK govt introduced shared parental leave, and as such I have been able to take on the role of primary care giver, and my Wife has been able to continue her career without losing years of progression. I know that I am not that unusual in being more nurturing of infants, as you put it. I know of several men who have taken the same step as me and those numbers will grow. If that was the case, they would have chosen a lesser male candidate. I suspect that the best candidate was obvious prior to drawing up the shortlist, so the shortlist was filled with the best female candidates in an attempt to avoid the inevitable furore when an old white man got the job.
