Or that our own issues are all our own fault and therefore our responsibility. The people that blame men for literally every problem in the world will call you sexist for blaming women for anything at all.

The last point is a great theory. I think a lot of peoplle think of men’s issues as stupid or not a real thing. The annoying thing is feminists do the opposite when it’s girls’ issues. Something like rape/domestic violence is done by both genders towards both genders, but they’ll argue that describing it with gender neutral language erases women’s suffering. I could understand the argument if they were consistent, but they’re not. Violence is just violence if it affects men, and violence against…

I’d argue it’s why they’re so big on replacing misogyny with sexism than just anti- using misandry. We already had a word for “discrimination on the basis of sex.” It was sexism. It was a broad, gender-neutral term that can accurately capture the multitude of ways and whys of discrimination. It judges a person’s actions rather than what you think their feelings are. Sexism can mean thinking one gender are bad drivers or it could be a call for mass-g*nocide of either. It doesn’t assume negative i…

So much for feminists believing in equality and treating everyone the same. The law was already gender-neutral/egalitarian, so they can’t pull the “who set that system up?” card.

Depends on what you consider redpill. It’s pretty subjective, or at least people make it so by holding completely different definitions. I don’t think anyone owns hypergamy as a theory/concept, maybe incel Hypergamy realism (or any other pessimistic realism) could lead to blackpill/fatalism tho

Yeah, this is very tradcon speak. I’d expect Charlie Kirk or Michael Knowles to say this, and they aren’t redpillers. Some redpillers believe this, or hop on the redpill bandwagon as a vehicle for their own ideology, but it’s not really a core redpill position imo

I don’t know which gender is more physically violent, crime statistics aren’t a very useful metric. Only 4% of people commit violent crimes, but I seriously doubt only 4% of people have ever been violent in their life. Women seem to be a lot more socially aggressive, but who knows about either. Testosterone seems to make you calmer and more reasonable.

Indeed, and social aggression is something people struggle to properly penalize. Physical aggression is well-understood and formally penalized through physical confinement (ie prison). But there’s no real downside to lying, slander, character assassination or “being a bitch.” With HR or social media, those qualities are rewarded.

I completely agree. I should change “feminism” to “feminists” because my intention was to say that gender equality is about equal treatment, and feminists act otherwise. On a side note, I don’t like using history with regard to policy arguments and prefer to only do so when other people bring up the past. I think feminism is bad because of what feminists believe and preach. The response to that is to usually talk about history, at which point I’ll point out the nasty history of feminism. I don’t…

I think the main conclusion is these women view men (or at least testosterone or masculinity) as the violent and unreasonable sex. Apparently, reality disagrees with them. In any event, I didn’t need a study to know this, but it certainly helps to have it. We need more masculinity in the world, not less, for men and women. A big issue with feminists is they act like gender equality means making life better for women, when it’s actually about treating men and women the same. That comes with downs…

Yeah, homophobia knows no gender. Lots of girls view gay men as weak/effeminate and lesbians as gross/perverse. Even if some homophobia is sexist, that doesn’t mean it isn’t sexist in a way that serves women’s interests. Sexism against women isn’t anti-woman unless it acts against women’s interests. Lots of women are willing to put down their own gender conceptually if it means securing practical benefits. One thing a lot of girls do is gatekeep behavior by labeling it as feminine and shaming me…

Yeah, I don’t mind it; not gay so I’d just say no. It’s a case of them asserting what you would do in a hypothetical scenario that they made up to prove that 1. You’re a hypocrite and 2. Anyone in their shoes would behave like them. You wouldn’t, I wouldn’t, and we don’t think it’s a big deal then that sets a baseline for what a rational response to being asked out is. If the Greens and the LibDems win, would that help improve the issues men and boys are facing in the UK? No. Contemporary liberals are not advocates for men. At most they will pander to men to get them to “step up and do better.” True liberalism would promote individual liberty and equality for all.

Circular arguments: Assume society is patriarchal. Observe gender difference. Conclude the difference was caused by patriarchy. Use the difference as proof patriarchy exists. Thank you! I’ve noticed for a while that many feminist arguments (typically about how a problem is caused by the patriarchy) are circular in nature. Start with a conclusion -> Observe reality -> Conclude that reality is caused by the conclusion -> Start back up with the conclusion

Yeah, it makes sense in economics, but it’s not very transferrable to gender. The dynamic between men and women is not an oppressor vs oppressed one. Money is power and it can easily be measured mathematically: the bigger number is bigger than the smaller one. Sexual dynamics are way too subjective and varied. There’s too many men and women from too many different backgrounds, and since feminists like to consider the past 10,000 years of global human existence and boil it down to women were oppr…

You’re right. “Not all [group]” is the best response to bigotry, be it sexism or racism or whatever else. We ought to hold onto those types of classical liberal values and not adopt feminist thinking. It should be easy enough to shut down discriminatory statements with that phrase, but to do so effectively requires consensus. Too many people are ok with the double standard of treating sexism against men like it’s less important or not at all than sexism against women, and I think that’s where th…

Their counter is usually that the bad stuff women do isn’t as bad as the stuff men do. That, like the above quote is factually inaccurate, for the same reason: women do those things too. Secondly, the “not as bad” argument just enables a death by a thousand cuts. Even if being manipulative, emotional abusive, etc. isn’t as bad as physical abuse, shifting focus from social aggression being bad in and of itself to whether it’s as bad just distracts you from condemning it or trying to discourage pe…

Toxic masculinity originally was an anti-feminist concept that basically asserted that modern men (at that time, 1990s men) had become too feminized and needed to reclaim their masculinity. It was co-opted by feminists to mean essentially the opposite: the rules and restrictions supposedly imposed upon men by the patriarchy. Their calls for redefining masculinity are just calls to assign their own rules and restrictions to impose onto men. It’s “under new management” style liberation. Not that m…

I completely agree that these people don’t operate under guiding moral principles. It’s how they can demonize men while condemning sexism, which is hypocritical. The framework they typically use is the oppressor/oppressed hierarchy. If a group has the oppressed label (black people, for instance), then racism against them is bad. Whereas, if a group has the oppressor label (white people), then racism against them is not only acceptable, it’s progressive.

They’ll just say that statistics are unreliable and the men outside that 4% might be getting away with it. But that’s equally true for women, so you’re really just bringing up statistics to disregard them. The only statistic that undeniable to them is that 96% of violent crime is committed by men. They don’t care the percentage of that percentage. Otherwise, they’ll say that they can’t tell the difference between a safe man and a violent man, but that’s just admitting that the statistics/probabi…

Also, adults abusing children and men abusing women is taken more seriously. Most domestic violence is done by women as well, it’s just not punished as harshly. They’re violent towards both men and children, but one of those is taken more seriously than the other. Violence is ultimately a human/individual behavior, not a male or female behavior. Women do it more because they know they can get away with it. Feminists frame it as “toxic masculinity,” aka a male behavior, and thus, it’s in a differ…

It’s just factually untrue: It isn’t always a man. If even one woman commits a crime, it isn’t always a man. (And the number is obviously higher than one) The only places this argument really works is in countries like the UK where rape is legally defined as something only men can do. But even then, I could just as easily define rape as something only a woman can do and then their whole argument gets flipped. Because they don’t mind traditional gender roles if those roles benefit women or hurt men. It’s only if they benefit men or hurt women that it’s a problem. Just like they’re only pro-equality when it’s beneficial for women. Additionally, to acknowledge women’s role in shaping gender roles would undermine their patriarchy narrative: that men invented every problem in the world, aka “the system.”

I don’t want to attach gender to behavior, in either direction. I don’t believe in violence against men or women, unless it’s done specifically because you’re a man/woman. Domestic violence is mostly just people losing their temper, and there’s a lot of reasons why it happens. We should focus less of including men in the gender discussion, snd more on eliminating gender from the discussion.

Completely agree. The issue is ideology, not sex. As long as your head/values are in the right place, it shouldn’t matter if you’re a man or woman and we need to stop making everything that an individual does about their sex (or race). When feminists talk about toxic masculinity, they’re attaching gender to bad behavior. You don’t have to do that, you can just say a behavior is bad and judge any individual who performs said behavior. You can just say that murder is bad, and hold individual murde…

They don’t even need to falsify them. It’s not hard to find some random statistic to paint them in a superior or victimized light. You can do that with any group. Heads up, if you try to argue that “misandry does kill” in any way, they’ll just move the goalpost in any way they can to say it’s men/the patriarchy’s fault that misandry kills. That didn’t happen, and if it did, it wasn’t a big deal, and if it was, it’s your own fault.

You’d have to motivate pro-male people to want to do that kind of research. Most guys just want to live their lives; they dislike feminism and the problems it causes, but they don’t want to center their whole existence around hating feminism. They want to be engineers, doctors, whatever, not pro-male researchers. Plus, I think men generally aren’t that interested in social issues (in this case, men/women issues), and strongly dislike identity politics. Men are pretty individualistic, and usually…

Men are actors, and women are re-actors; men do things, and women respond to their environment. So if you don’t like a woman’s behavior, ask yourself what you, or society, did to provoke it. It doesn’t help that there’s a double standard in that a lot of people are afraid of criticizing women as a group, for fear of being labeled sexist, which would be reasonable/moral, if not for the fact that there’s much more leeway to blame men as a group without incurring a sexist label. The end result is a…

It’s the oppressor vs the oppressed dynamic. The oppressor is to blame for everything and the oppressed is accountable for nothing, even their own actions, as those are just a reaction to oppression. Anything goes in the fight against oppression, including lying, hypocrisy, even oppression! The oppressor can’t be oppressed, even if you oppress them, because they hold the power. If men suffer in any capacity, then that’s just “Patriarchy” backfiring.

The worst kind of feminist are the ones that want the benefits of equality and the benefits of traditionalism with none of the downsides. The downsides all go to the man, and if he doesn’t like them he’s either not a real man (conservative) or he’s got toxic/fragile masculinity (feminist).

I agree. If I’m talking to someone about a problem I’m facing, it’s because I don’t have a solution and I’m asking them for advice. A lot of the time, they (guy or girl) just don’t have a solution, or they’re in the same boat I am. It’s silly to act men just can’t do self-reflection or refuse to be deep with each other, some problems need actual solutions for things to get better.

So in my experience it isn't that men can't be real with each other. Maybe I was lucky or something, but I had lots of guy friends who I could talk to and they would listen Same here. I’m also speaking from personal experience/anecdotally, but I really don’t get where those people get the idea that men’s relationships are superficial. I’ve never had that issue, and I don’t know any men that have that issue. Maybe they think it’s superficial because men don’t talk to each other like this or this,…

Our justice system is built on the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ and rape is difficult to prove. It’s not biased against victims of sexual violence, sexual violence is a difficult crime to prove in any context. With something like murder, whether or not you did it, at least there’s a body, so we know a person actually died. We have something to work with beyond of my word against yours.

/r/MensRights06/03/24 07:22 PM

Yes, although I guess it would depend on what you mean by “not allowed.” Ideally, abortion should be accessible as possible for as long as possible, I’m not sure when the cut-off should be. But yeah, if one party can’t opt out, then neither should the other.
/r/MensRights06/03/24 06:45 PM

Yes. People, male or female, should have a right to political self-representation. I definitely agree with you about the conscription thing. Although, I don’t think anyone should be conscripted. I think the women and children first philosophy is a sexist one, it’s not more of a tragedy if something bad happens to a woman vs. a man. Children first, let the adults handle themselves.
/r/MensRights05/03/24 11:11 PM

The wording is pretty key here, as u/conspirized pointed out. They’re not asking if the subjects identify as feminists contemporaneously, they’re asking if they think it’s done more harm than good (overall). Giving women the right to vote is absolutely a good thing, to a degree that it outweighs a lot of bad that’s come from feminism nowadays (and in the past). Feminism 100 years ago (if you even want to call that feminism) is not feminism today, and the question being asked lacks the appropriat…

Having limited reproductive choice (aside from celibacy) is absolutely an issue. If women can abort their children last-minute, men should be allowed to waive their parental rights/obligations as well. Fetal abortion for women, and financial abortion for men. With freedom comes responsibility, and the degree to which you have choice is the degree to which you are accountable for that choice, and vice versa. If pro-choice women want 100% decision-making power, then they should 100% accountable fo…
